Wonderful Hotel

Review by BirdyBraintree Braintree Essex

This was our third trip to this superb hotel. The hotel is set in the most beautiful grounds, the pool complex is amazing and the rooms have lovely views over the gardens to the sea beyond. However the greatest feature is the quality of the staff who provide an exemplary service and always seem to be able to help whatever the request...

Staying at Quinta Jardin da lago is always memorable.

Absolutely unique divine experience :)

Review by sniedy Riga, Latvia

This is absolutely unique historical property - the exterior, interior and garden - breath taking. It was very inspiring to see how everything in hotel area has been kept in really good shape considering every single tiny detail. During the stay there, we definitely received much more positive feelings than where imagining from available information about this place...

The environment, overall energetics, service level, friendliness of team, everything was more than perfect. Strongly recommend this place to enjoy positive, peaceful, best quality stay in Madeira.

Wish the best guests and success in future! Please continue what you do - it is amazing!

Simply the best in Madeira

Review by whyshyme London, United Kingdom

We chose Hotel Quinta Jardins do Lago as It is a small luxury botanical garden hotel, steeped in history and sitting atop one of the green hills that surrounds Funchal. We could enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the hotel and journey downtown in pursuit of the bright lights easily.

We stayed in a spacious room with a garden view. On our arrival we found a big bowl of fruit and an envelope containing information about the hotel...

Also, on the arrival we found a bag with sanitiser, gloves, and masks in the room – which is unusual for the hospitality industry nowadays. We fell in love with our room instantly. It had a pallete of cream, peach and the softest sage green. Our room was dominated by a beautiful lace-trimmed four poster bed. On one side there was a comfortable, carpeted sitting area with sofa and on the other, huge sliding doors leading out to our private balcony which overlooked the amazing gardens. The marble bathroom was both elegant and spacious. We had a perfect night’s sleep because of the comfortable bed and the blackout curtains. The main feature of the hotel is not only the property and the garden, but the people. They are so thoughtful, attentive and kind that you really feel home away from home. They solved all our problems, big and small e.g. we needed to urgently locate a clinic for our PCR test and the lady on the Reception solved this issue in just five minutes. For more than 20 years, they have had the safety and well-being of their guests as their top priority.

The best five star hotel the island of Madeira!

Review by MandStours

We have just spent 10 days at this beautiful hotel. This small luxury hotel incorporates the original Quinta which houses several top suites as well as the restaurant, bar and library amongst other things.

The remaining accommodation is located adjacent to the Quinta and is accessed internally. All of the public areas as well as the rooms are beautifully furnished in traditional Madeiran style with classic furnishings, artwork and antiques...

Beautiful dark wood floors as well as stylish tiles and carpets are seen in the public areas as well as in the bedrooms. Spotlessly clean throughout, and the hotel’s attention to safety regarding Covid measures were second to none.
All of the well sized bedrooms have individual terraces/balconies and overlook the gardens.

The hotel is situated in its own enormous botanical gardens which are beautifully kept. A gardener’s paradise! Colombos, the resident giant tortoise can be seen sunning himself near his den and loves being stroked by the guests!

The heated swimming pool which is beautifully landscaped is set in a most attractive setting amongst the gardens Lunch can be enjoyed in the separate dining area adjacent to the pool bar.

Although the hotel’s 40 odd rooms were fully occupied during our stay the pool area was never crowded and there were plenty of sun loungers available and well-spaced out.

Breakfast was served in the garden and whereas prior to the arrival of Covid the hotel had a buffet breakfast, this is no longer the case. Guests are now given an extensive breakfast menu and everything is prepared freshly to order and served directly to guest’s tables. The standard and quality of food, not to mention presentation was excellent.

We dined every night at the hotel, having opted for the half board arrangement. We were not disappointed and there was fixed 5 course table d’hote menu which changed daily. Of course they also have an a la carte menu with a very extensive wine list to suit everyone. Again, like breakfast, the quality and presentation was second to none. Like breakfast, dinner was also served in the gardens.

The entire team of staff were warm, welcoming and did everything possible to ensure that your stay was memorable for all the right reasons. They even assisted us and other guests in booking pre-flight Covid tests, and where guests needed assistance to complete the locator forms they were more than happy to assist! Service above and beyond!.

We understand that at the time we were staying at the hotel, 49% of the guests were returnees and we can understand why. We too have already decided that we will be returning next year!

A huge thank you to the entire team for a most memorable holiday, and we look forward to our next visit to this beautiful hotel.
