Because this was not our first stay, we were given a free upgrade to a better room and a 5% discount at the check in. The room was really magnificent, very big with sea view. Breakfast was really good and very diverse...

All facilities were very good and staff was very friendly and helpful in all occasions. We already booked our next trip for next year.

Exceptional food, some organizational problems

Let me start with the positive things: We stayed for a week in this hotel in August 2020. The hotel was fully booked (even though many other hotels/restaurants in town looked quite empty), so that was a good sign. The food is exceptional...

The buffet is even better than in many a la carte restaurants. High quality products, every day new things. The location of the hotel is great, near the beach, the center of the town, and surrounded by shops. Every day you can get new towels for the beach. The rooms are comfortable (although a bit dark, especially if you stay in a room with windows at the inside of the hotel - but at the same time these rooms are very quiet, so that is good). The staff members were very friendly. There were some waiting lines (for the reception, for the dining room etc.) but we understand this is necessary in the current COVID-19 situation. Then some (minor) things that we did not really like:

  • We tried to choose a time for the breakfast and lunch two days before our arrival, but there were not any options to choose anymore. So, they gave us the late breakfast (10-11) and the early lunch (13.30). In our opinion, this is not really a good combination, and they should be a bit more flexible with this (e.g., leave 10% of places open, so that last minute changes can be granted to guests with similar issues). Now, no changes were possible.
  • The swimming pool and the time slots. Ofcourse, we understand that reservations for the swimming pool are necessary, but all good time slots were already completely full 24h before (although the system was that you could only reserve a place starting 24h before... so we did not understand how this was possible?). And there were many guests that completely ignored the rules, and just took chairs without reservation (and the staff/safety guard didnt do anything). One day we were the first in line for our time slot, but after they guard checked our room number and we walked to the chairs, we saw that already 10-12 chairs were taken by other people, some even without towels from the hotel. These people were coming from the bar. Im pretty sure the staff noticed this. So, why you have COVID-19 rules, if later people do what they want? This should be organized/controlled better, and it is also not fair for the guests who follow the rules. At a certain moment, some people arrived (with reservation), and then they realized that there were more people in the swimming pool than chairs available.. So, these people had no chair to sit, because they were taken by others without reservation! Annoying.
  • Every morning, the cleaning staff came to our room just 30 minutes before our time of breakfast, when we were just preparing in the bathroom. And the cleaning staff acted a bit annoyed when were still in our room. You would expect that this could be organized better? If the cleaning staff knows more or less the time of the breakfast of guests, this would not happen.
  • Although the food in the restaurant was very, very good, the service was a bit chaotic. Almost every day with breakfast or dinner, we did not have glasses or we missed a spoon at our table. We had to ask for it, and wait a long time before we got it. Just a simple question: why do they not check the table, to see if everything is complete, directly when they bringing guests to the table? Also, waiting lines at breakfast were a little long. The first monday after we arrived, it took us 35 minutes to get all the food we wanted, as there long waiting lines (e.g., for the bread). Later in the week, this improved a bit.

We really enjoyed our stay, but we believe that the above mentioned points should be improved, as you pay quite a lot for this hotel. In general, we had a good time, and we will probably come back.

We had several issues unfortunately to our disappointment & although we have stayed here several times previously we have never had a bad experience hence that’s why we always choose to stay here. We will no longer stay here or recommend this hotel to any of our clients in the future which is a sad shame as we have booked friends/family & clients to stay. My main concern is the way we were treated & humiliated. The issues we had consisted of lack of equality & service which was not what we paid for, even our cocktails we brought had no fruit on or trimmings like the other guests, when we asked why we were not getting the same treatment, my daughter felt very discriminated when ordering the drinks plus we were not offered any of the beverages like the other guests, when they came round, when we tried to order hot food we were also told the kitchen was closed, whilst other guests were also eating hot food, we were offered a packet of crisps for the inconvenience, Rachel didn’t seem to care, so rude & condescending, there were 3 of us as a family, what is a packet of crisps going to do really? This was all very obvious to see leaving us feeling very awkward, embarrassed & uncomfortable, which I was shocked as we’ve always been made to feel special on previous visits. We did spend a considerable amount of money on high end brands of alcohol & to not get treated in a correct manner this is not acceptable. Also we had no discount for the lack of amenities available. (pool slot) it was not clear in the restrictions for covid, which is false advertisement, had we have known we couldn’t have full use of the pool we wouldn’t of booked this hotel on this occasion. I appreciate we all have to adhere to health & safety which I welcome, I also believe you need to express the process to your guests before they book, not after. When we addressed the issues, we were not treated fairly. We saw other guests abuse their time slot, by staying all day, when we spoke with the attendant Angelo in relation to this issue he was negligent & replied they were not on duty, however still allowed them to stay further into the next time slot, whilst we were told there were no time slots left or available, We gave the hotel manager an opportunity to address this by offering a discount or giving us some other form of amenities to offer, however to my disbelief he did not oblige, the only thing he did offer was for us to get a time slot at the pool, which I replied at this point we wouldn’t feel welcome or comfortable, due to how rude they were, laughing at guests when challenging a situation is not professional. It was appalling the way we were treated.
