Wonderful holiday highly recommend

Highly recommend. We were greeted by friendly efficient reception team who couldn’t do enough for us throughout our stay. Our room was lovely with twin beds a balcony that looks out to the sea with reclining chairs to sit on...

The food was exceptional and always plenty of choices. All the staff worked incredibly hard wearing masks throughout the service. Everyone is polite friendly and helpful and you just have to ask and they will do there best. There is a lovely pool and it does get busy but the pool attendant will do his very best to help you out. At night there is entertainment on every night so you don’t even have to leave the hotel. Charlene is the compare at night, water aerobics instructor, holiday advisory and a general go to girl with always a smile on her face and always happy to help. In this difficult covid time this hotel has strict policies and cleaning routines to keep the guest as safe as possible.

Impressive First Stay

4 of us friends had a 4 night stay here this week Monday to Friday. I admit, I usually stay at the more expensive hotels as i love a bit of luxury when away and usually stay at sandos, but as that seems to be slipping and I have been nagged by friends to stay here I thought we would give it a try.

Ok ,4 of us, checked in around lunchtime and were met by a very polite and friendly chap on the reception who went in to great detail (with a smile) all the ins and outs of the hotel and the way things worked. We were offered a pool towel each for a 20 Euro deposit, which was refunded on departure. After this we went to our rooms (Standard) on the 8 th floor 802 through to 805 one each. The room was exceptionally clean and very comfortable, with a nice sized balcony with chairs, a table and foot rests. all the rooms are facing the sea which is nice too...

The bed and pillows were very comfortable and a good nights sleep was had on all nights. All rooms have a safe at 1.60 per night. the bathroom is a good size and the shower is a good powerful one. The rooms were cleaned every day with fresh towels provided. There are 4 lifts and it can get quite busy meal times so you may have a short wait. The food? we only had the breakfast on this occasion, but going by that I was very impressed, there was nothing you could ask for that was not there. Excellent. Also, the dining room is large and airy with lots of space and seating. Staff helpful and polite, very clean. The pool area is a little small, but with space at a premium in Benidorm, I think its a good use of it, There is pool service for drinks and a nice bar around the pool. The lounge area is nothing short of gorgeous as is the lounge on the first floor with the stage for nightly entertainment. In summing up, as a regular to las Vegas, it reminds me of some of the hotels there, its really very upmarket, perhaps too much so for Benidorm, but it suited us. the checkout was good too, we were asked repeatedly if everything was alright, had we enjoyed our stay? would we come back and we hope to see you again. very impressive. OK, The cons: There are not many at all. But, alas important touches.

My main gripe (well all 4 of us felt the same and did write it on the questions form) would be there are only kettles provided in the larger rooms or suits.

This is very disappointing for a hotel of this calibre and for the higher price you pay to stay here. Most hotels of half the price and stars in Benidorm have kettles with tea and coffee in them. For what you pay here, you need a kettle and tea and coffee in EVERY room regardless. There is nothing more that us Brits like than to be able to get up , sit on the balcony with a cuppa first thing in the morning. So, whoever reads this from the hotel please correct this and sort it, a "we will note it" is not enough. :) One final thing, for evening diner we were advised that you have to wear long trousers (men), which although unusual for Benidorm I can accept.

However, The Don Pancho must realise that it is fine asking for trousers to be worn, but when they have been in a suitcase for hours with other items of clothing, you need to iron them!! but you don't have ironing boards in the rooms, again this is a must for a hotel of this calibre, even a few behind the reception that most decent hotels have to borrow from, would do. Would I return? yes I would, it is a really nice hotel and I would recommend it to anyone. Just, please sort the ironing and kettles out :)

Disappointed

Check in was quick and we were offered a high room as requested.. Hotel is spotlessly clean and all areas cleaned throughout the day. On 2nd October we attempted to enter the dining hall, we had been out watching football and wanted to eat later.. my partner was refused entry, as had tailored shorts on, we explained that this had not been an issue or a problem 2 years ago when we traveled the same time...

I was wearing shorts, T-shirt and trainers and was allowed in.. we were not the only couple refused entry, many were gathering asking to eat, other gentlemen eating in the dining room were sat in scruffy jeans and trainers and T-shirt, which compared to tailored shorts and a shirt looked worse. We all demanded to speak to the manager who came and would not allow us to eat, we asked if we could eat in the lounge or the pool area, out of site of the dining room and was told no, we could have it brought to our room, as a buffet, how would that work!! The manager handled the situation totally wrong, I explained that he was being sexist against men, that this was not a diverse hotel, making different rules for men and women.. While we were asking to eat for tonight and would comply from the next day, he still refused us entry. He could have defused the situation by allowing that to stop a sene being made.. A gentleman approached me saying he had brought a bottle of wine to have with his meal and had a glass left, but was refused when he wanted to take it from the restaurant to the lounge bar area, all drinks brought in the restaurant were not allowed to be taken and finished in the lounge. He had just paid the hotel for the wine, surly he can continue to drink it on the premises… We were not even allowed to have a drink in the lounge, as the rules say long trousers, but others were sitting there drinking in shorts. When we pointed this out, no explanation was given. The staff are put in confrontational situations everyday and I feel for them as it’s very unfair.. The hotel is very out dated with its rules and I feel when that older generation are no longer holidaying in a few years, they will have an empty hotel, as our generation (50s/60s) prefer smart shorts and shirts to long trousers in 29c heat.. it’s a real shame, as the hotel itself is lovely and all the staff are polite and courteous..

A REGULAR GUEST RESPONSE TO, “DISAPPOINTED” WHO STAYED 2/10

For me it is difficult to understand why people would take exception to being asked to comply with hotel rules. These guests are quoted as saying, “ We all demanded to speak to the manager who came and would not allow us to eat”. All they did was to make fools of themselves and embarrass the management summoned...

Anyone checking into an hotel would surely have consulted the rules of the premises before booking. As to talking about another guest who was refused permission to take a partially used bottle of wine out of the restaurant, maybe they should check the Spanish rules as opposed to the that of the hotel. It is a shame that such rednecks populate most Spanish resorts.

No irons.

Just arrived home from Don Pancho Hotel. Stayed 2 weeks first week in superior room 2nd week upgraded to room 1802. Atico room...

The balcony was amazing. Worth paying more for. Everyone was friendly and helpful apart from an older man on reception who was miserable. Shame as all the others couldn't be any nicer. Only had breakfast which was good. Plenty of choice. Only one issue, no irons. When you travel with 2 suitcases however well you pack things get creased. I had to go out and buy an iron for 30 euros. For such a nice hotel this not good. Who wants to go out in creased clothes?? Other than this we enjoyed our stay and would come back but in the Atico rooms. Remembering to factor in paying out for an iron once there!
