Flamingo oasis

Just come back from 2 weeks at the Flamingo oasis first time back there since January 2019. Some of the staff still remembered us The COVID restrictions were in place and nobody got served at the bar without a masks plenty of hand sanitizers around the people which some people were not even using even going in the restaurant The hotel is not as good as it was pre pandemic. The entertainment team at night didn’t know what they were doing and nothing ran to time They ended up getting the entertainment manager in from one of the other hotels in the group The food was very repetitive and warm most of the time I had to use the microwave on several occasions I told reception and for a couple of days food was hotter The breakfast which used to be good was shrivelled up hard crispy bacon overcooked sausage cold pancakes and churros egg tomatoes beans mushrooms and a continental section Even the show carvery was cold and they cut the meat up and you just helped yourself One if the lifts kept breaking down as too many people were getting in...

Some of the hotel as been modernised but when it rains heavy there is towels on the windowsills or on the floor Would I go back I hope so as I’ve been going for 6 years 3 times a year before lockdown and have made some lovely friends there

Great Hotel

My wife and I took advantage of a ridiculous cheap deal with Tui £249, each and stayed at this hotel. We stayed on the 13th floor. Room was clean with a little wear and tear on the laminated wood but really not a problem. Cleaned every day. Good location...

I personally found the food to be excellent. For me plenty of choice and quality. No issues with the drinks. Not a problem asking for bottle of Cava and taking it up to your room. The staff were very friendly. Being November don't even think about swimming in the pool, it's baltic but the indoor pool is fine. So yes a great hotel and I would highly recommend it.

it all started well got to hotel and looked quite nice just made check in before 3 more coaches came in, checked in went to room and thought nice big room then couldn't get the safe to work, after unpacking my clothes (got to say there are loads of hanger space) i went down to reception to see if they could get safe working WOW people queuing out of the doors to check in even after a hour anyway managed to speak to someone on another desk and was told that i had to pay for safe, got to say i was taken back as i have never had to pay for a safe for a long time especially in a all inclusive 4 star hotel. payed for safe but beware you can only put a iPad on the bottom as safe not deep enough any higher. went down for some lunch and on carvery was salmon which was gorgeous but that's where it ends...

went back up to room and did a bit further inspection to find rotten wood in bathroom and skirting falling off in bedroom as well as mouldy wallpaper this didn't really affect the holiday but should be better for a 4 star hotel then we noticed that there was a fridge but no water normally i would expect a small bottle of water each on arrival then I found that the hotel didn't do bottled water so if you wanted water for room you had to buy it. food on the night wasn't great but edible at a push we are not fussy eaters but found this was a struggle and the entertainment was shocking to say the least. next day got up for breakfast and I have never been to a hotel in the past 20 yrs where the breakfast tasted so bad and ive been to a lot. I know its November but you can forget about going around the pool during the day as the hotels around blocks all sunlight. we tried to get snacks which is advertised but your snacks is leftover breakfast and crisps. evening meal well what can I say we tried but failed so ate out and this was on more than one occasion where we tried the food and had to eat out on one night it was Chinese noodles Chinese sweet and sour and Chinese Chinese Chinese I love Chinese food but this was terrible , out of the 7 nights there we had to eat out 3 nights and went out for breakfast 3 times. some people we talked to in hotel said the food was the best they have eaten well they obviously haven't been very far lol on one night the carvery was so bad some people said the pork was nice others said the beef was nice in fact it was lamb. entertainment was terrible had a female Michael Jackson and Madonna that sounded like shed been drinking all day seen much better bad karaoke singers. so in general if this hotel is cheap I mean under £300 for a week then its ok its definitely not a 4 star I would say a low 3 star drink is not good and don't think if you have a club room all spirits are free they are not only select ones. also there is a vegetarian section of food but most people get there meat then load up with veg on there I'm not vegetarian but I'm sure this cant be right food forget it unless you really skint then you have no choice. entertainment if you like laughing at people who think they are good then watch. in a nutshell you'd be better off in a self catering place than this as food and drink is really cheap all around Benidorm

Entertainment? What entertainment!

I have been returning to the Flamingo Oasis regularly for the last 10 years and was a little apprehensive returning for the first time after the pandemic following some of the reviews posted.

There is definitely one thing that requires urgent attention (the lack of entertainment) but on the whole the hotel didn’t disappoint. Check in was quick and efficient and we were greeted by the same friendly staff. The main bar area ran as efficiently as usual and the place was up to its high standards of cleanliness and good service...

It was also nice to see how much lighter the bar area looked as a result of a fresh coat of paint and the addition of new chairs, with the added bonus that you no longer had to worry about catching your clothes! The addition of the gold wristband meant we could have premium spirits and bottled lager which was definitely welcomed.

However, no amount of friendly staff and efficient service can make up for the negatives that require attention. In Benidorm there are lots of hotels that have had massive makeovers and become modernised and I am afraid this is where the Flamingo Oasis is beginning to look tired. The chairs by the televisions look dated - which is a bit of a prequel for the state of the rooms. There is nothing wrong with the rooms, they are spacious and practical but the bathroom we had was definitely in need of some TLC. Rust on the side of the bath, dirty mastic and a general sense that they have served their purpose. A revamp is a must for this hotel to continue to be competitive and keep its 4 star rating.

The food is the same and of a very good standard and continues to be efficient and well managed but as a result of less footfall in the hotel, the food sits around more under the lights and consequently is dried up and often cold. This was notable on the cavery - the same excellent selection of meat but was often precut and sitting under the lights for too long so that, along with the gravy and the potatoes, was cold and dry. Often the meat was cut far too thick making it very difficult to chew, which was such a shame.

Finally, my greatest bone of contention was entertainment or lack of. There used to be plenty of entertainment , a mini disco ( I understand if there are not the children it is not viable ) but it was October half term and the hotel was filling up, a quiz or play your cards, a Med Playa show and often an entertainment act afterwards. Sadly to call cocktail making (which used to happen on an afternoon) the main feature of the hotel's entertainment is a sad reflection of the direction this hotel is heading . The entertainment manager's head should roll for this.

In addition, in the ‘Derby and Joan suite,’ which used to be packed to the rafters, sat poor Pepe entertaining 4 people of which my party made up 2! Why is such a talent still confined to an empty room? Surely putting the piano in the main bar area and having him entertain, or rigging up a different keyboard in the Fiesta suite, would prove better than sitting with 4 people. It really isn't rocket science! I’m sure people are paid a lot of money to sort out the entertainment and clearly COVID is still being used as an excuse! I do not consider a game of Kahoot entertainment. Please encourage those who are paid the big bucks to visit the town, the bars are awash with entertainers doing what they do, providing hard working holiday makers with some light hearted respite as they while away their time. What is more worrying is that if this is your first time at the hotel , you may think this standard of entertainment is the norm. What are you thinking of Flamingo Oasis???

In short, sack the entertainment team, those that cannot lead should just go, modernise the rooms and heat up the food and the hotel will return to a winning formula for decades ahead.

Not a 4 star

Took me a long time to pick this hotel It was were I wanted to be and had fantastic reviews were do I start 1..on arrival 2 coaches arrived at the same time stood in a que for 1 half hrs before we got checked in only got offered 1 cup of water 2 we were on 7th floor room large, 2 single beds 2 sofa beds plenty of room to hang clothes , bathroom large with very small bath with shower over. Very old and dated wood rotten and ceiling tiles kept flipping up 3 noise you could hear every thing doors slamming people snoring people arguing so never slept very well at all But rooms are cleaned everyday with fresh towels also beds are rock hard 4 food my lord it was awful especially breakfast tastless slop was their 10 days went for breakfast 2 time 1 lunch 2 dinners we ate out food was that bad . Drinks were good thank god lovely staff 5 people always saying what a bargain they got 275 for a week we paid £1600 for 10 days ...

People say you get what you pay for it was worth around 300 and that's being nice. Sorry but will not be returning
