This hotel is located in a central area of Benidorm. It is situated just 400 metres away from the Old Town. Guests will find themselves just a 5 minutes' walking distance away from Poniente Beach. In the surrounding area there are a wide variety of restaurants, bars and shops. Public transport connections can be found just 200 metres away. This hotel enjoys a charming ambiance, welcoming visitors with warm hospitality. The guest rooms are functional and comfortable. Guests can enjoy a refreshing swim in the pool, or simply lie back and relax in the hot tub. The hotel offers a wonderful restaurant, where guests can enjoy buffet-style dining.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
Brilliant hotel but with two minor points. Had a really nice experience at this hotel. Couldn’t fault the room or the dining room. We only had breakfast here as we prefer to eat out during the day and evening. So many choices for breakfast that I would be here forever, needless to say many choices and not limited to portions. Now for the down side, at a small expense the hotel could fit those round felt under chair legs to stop the constant scrapping of said chairs. The other point is the constant slamming of doors. Do the Spanish not care about disturbing other guests? Door closures could be fitted but this I know would be an expensive outlay. A cheaper idea is to put notices on the inside of the doors but don’t think most guests would read and comply. As I said only minor points that didn’t really spoil our hols in Benidorm. We never go back to the same resort twice BUT IF WE EVER DID Would have no doubt we would book into the Hotel Melina.
This is a Warning about the times chosen to eat half board at Hotel Melina.
We've just returned from a weeks stay based on half board.
We chose to have Breakfast and Dinner instead of Breakfast and Lunch.
Breakfast wasn't bad , very average for Spain but it was the food quality and selection on the Evening Dinner that let us down. The first meal on the Sunday seemed to be pretty good but then it went down hill. You could tell that some of the food was recycled dishes from Lunch, the soup was limited and not an attractive option. We were usually one of the first into the Dining room ( due to late and starving) which didn't open UNTIL 8pm. Not Good.
It was only on the Thursday that we decided to have a sneak into the LUNCHTIME session to see what was served up on that sitting as against our Dinner Menu.
We found a BIG difference in the Selection and quality on offer at Lunch.
Things like Paella (my favourite) Corn on the Cob, Better items on offer including a big
better choice of Soups and Quantity all which we never had on our Dinner Menu.
We felt we had been mugged by the food on offer on our Evening Dinner dining menu.
So our Warning is
DON'T CHOOSE THE 8PM DINING you get a much better choice and selection on the LUNCHTIME menu. Plus 8pm is a bit too late to have to wait for your Evening dinner but its a very Spanishy traditional Hotel which probably accounts for the late situ.
As far as the hotel itself is concerned, it was brilliant. Spotlessly clean, great staff, lovely room, quiet position, comfy beds, convenient location.
Great stay. lovely hotel we went all inclusive ,pools are great indoor and out jacuzzi are nice and gym is just right. Rooms were nice and modern and staff friendly and helpful. 15 mins easy walk to the beach and good location to walk everywhere. Definitely worth a stay
The Hotel itself is modern, clean, staff are friendly and beds comfy, the food unfortunately was below par and we had problems at meal times. This Hotel is in a good location in the old town but it seems the old town is really not that friendly to English visitors, it is mostly full of old rude Spanish people. The Hotel entertainment was geared for the old Spanish people, ballroom dancing, Spanish fiesta, nothing of any interest to us, no bingo or any quiz in English or any singers... The food wasn't great, not a very big selection and most frustrating was that it wasn't labelled in different languages only Spanish, very bad for people with allergies!. I tried to use my phone to translate but got constantly tutted at and barged in to by rude old people, sat down to what I thought was sliced turkey when in fact translated it was braised tongue!! Not what we would be accustomed to eating and it was like that with all meal times. Very Spanish options, fish, gazpacho, weird meat. I definitely would not recommend taking children as there is nothing there for children to eat. All signs in Spanish to Exit and instructions times, menu everything. Very unhelpful. I wouldn't stay again.
I recently enjoyed a long weekend with 3 friends. We stayed at Melina Hotel on a room only basis and had a great stay. The hotel was close to the beach, a children's playground, shops, supermarkets, bars and restaurants including Los Molinos Restaurant opposite the hotel (tapas, breakfast, menu del dia and main meals).
The rooms were very clean and well equipped with free WiFi, a safe, aircon and a balcony. In the room there was no fridge or tea / coffee making facilities, but drinks were available from the restaurant / bar. The hotel had great facilities, including a restaurant, bar, solarium and pool with sunbeds and jacuzzi. The staff were very friendly and hardworking and check-in was very smooth. We would definitely stay again based on value for money and the location of the hotel.
