Bang....Bang!!

Review by TWEEDY5 Plymouth, United Kingdom

If you are expecting a shimmering sea view, with a golden sandy beach...forget it!! The hotel is plonk in the middle of a residential area. Your view from your balcony will probably be, looking directly into people's flats opposite or of a courtyard. The room is a good size, comfy beds, good selection of English tv channels...

A safe is €1.50 per day. There is a small fridge. The bathroom needs a makeover and a deep clean. Towels are paper thin. Hair and body wash provided, also a hairdryer. You hear EVERY sound from next door. We were woken at midnight, 1.30am and 2.30am. The sound from the doors is ridiculous! The tv goes up loud, you hear high heels in the room and corridor. H/Board....is it worth it?? Yes. They make a good effort every morning and night. Everybody would find something...but...the food is Luke warm , as is the coffee. There is one microwave and you will need it!! Cereals tasted like cardboard, I bought some in the supermarket and had them instead. Christmas Eve they did really well, tables all layed out nice, a bottle of wine, prawns etc on each table. Social distancing goes out the window at meal times! Tony on reception, particularly helpful. Staff are nice. A few local cafes nearby. Beach about 15 mins walk...downhill. Wouldn't use this hotel again due to noise!

Lovely Hotel

Review by emmadawson79 Staffordshire, United Kingdom

Beautiful hotel staff are friendly hotel rooms spacious with plenty of rooms but walls are thin and can here everything from next-door. Entertainments not bad but only sing one or two songs in English everything else sang in Spanish also table service on entertainment nights seemed to be for Spanish only as witnessed Spanish being told to take there seats and English having to queue to be served at the bar. On one of the nights I was asked to sit down and someone will be with me I waited 20 mins watching the waiter going to tables of people just coming in from dinner and still nothing so back to the bar I went to get served which was another 20 minute wait because the table service was being done first...

More staff would of been good on busy nights not just the 2 servers.

Best 5 days EVER

We are a group of 5 girls having our 1st holiday abroad. This Hotel is beautiful and amazing and we cannot wait to come back next year. Staff are amazing and so friendly...

Nothing is to much trouble. It is in a small quiet area of Benidorm but not too far from the shops and a small taxi ride from the main strip. Food is beautiful and plenty of choice. Rooms are lovely and clean. We had an internal room which was lovely and quiet, but the other girls had a room with a balcony which was lovely too. The cocktails are beautiful, definitely recommend the Pina Coladas. The pool is very cold but really refreshing. The entertainment in the hotel is the only let down, but we made our own so not too bad.

Great hotel

Review by chriskG8755YT Halewood, United Kingdom

Great hotel with lovely rooms and good food. I would give 5* but have only given 4* I am diabetic and due to the hotel not having sugar free drinks such as Fanta zero I only had 1 option of Diet Coke.

Pleasant surprise but not without it's faults

Review by mellissaH Portsmouth, United Kingdom

After quite some trawling around many websites to find a good hotel at a good price, I came upon The Olympus Hotel. So I read many reviews and decided that it met our needs for a few days away. It didn't matter that it was in a more residential area of Benidorm, we enjoy walking so this was not a problem...

We were dropped off opposite Fiesta Park so it only took 5 mins to find the hotel (we actually walked straight past it!) The reception area was bright & open, very modern. Our room wasn't ready so we left our cases in a secure room & wandered off for lunch and it only took 10-15 mins to find our way down to the old town where we looked out over the med from the El Casco Antiguo de Benidorm and when we arrived it was very busy but beautiful. Anyway back to the hotel - once we finally checked in, we found or room on the first floor, disappointed that it was an internal room with a window that looked out onto an internal courtyard, so no real opportunity to have the blind open for fear of onlookers! However the room was VERY spacious with 3 beds, 2 of which were pushed together to make a double & they were very comfortable, also a large sofa which looked as if it could become a sofa bed. The bathroom was spacious with a large walk in shower (products supplied). There were no tea/coffee making facilities in the room which was disappointing, there was a fridge which you have to lay on the floor to plug in. you can ask reception to fill the fridge for a charge. Also a safe, we never used this as it was not secured to the wall or unit that it was placed in (who knows who could walk off with it & your passports!). The room was extremely hot but what we thought was aircon, turned out just be a fan & didn't cool the room whatsoever! But everything was clean & again, modern, the TV had english channels (very unusual) if you wanted to watch them. Now there was lots of entertainment happening in the evenings but not sure if this was only aimed at the spanish, but our last evening was a very disturbed night, being on the first floor the music was pretty loud, I don't mind music & noise but with quite echoy corridors & stairwells this was slightly annoying! Now breakfast!! It's the usual buffet style, continental & hot. The hot drinks are dispensed from a machine & no matter what coffee I tried, it really was not pleasant or hot. They supply a microwave to add more heat, not the point! ended up sticking to water. Even though there was a good choice, the temperature of the cooked food was at best warm. On our final morning I had to throw my food away (a total waste) as it was cold! Everything seems to be covered in garlic, now I love garlic but not on my breakfast! Now I always try to add honest reviews & this was just what we experienced. I would return but would request a room higher up & with a street facing room in order to be able to let in some air if it's warm, oh & stick to a continental breakfast.
