I stayed here with my teenage daughter and my friend. (We’re not young Brits, here for the drink and blokes). The hotel itself is really clean and modern, however it’s mainly Spanish staying here, and the locals don’t seem to like the Brits! The reception staff and cleaners were all very helpful and friendly...
The pool bar is under staffed as there was only one lady covering the bar and the snacks there. I asked for a cheese sandwich, and she disappeared for quite some time, then came back with cheese and ham. She didn’t seem to understand vegetarians. When I tried to explain that I couldn’t eat ham, she simply took the ham off the sandwich! I tried to explain that I couldn’t eat it, as the ham had touched the cheese, and a young Spanish boy by the pool had to explain this by using a translator on his phone. She then made me a fresh cheese sandwich, then proceeded to put it on the grill where she was grilling the burgers and sausages! I appreciate that us veggies are a pain in the backside, but I don’t think that it’s too much to ask for a basic food option when we’ve paid quite a bit to stay here. (Definitely not a budget hotel)
The buffet restaurant didn’t have much for veggies either, so I ended up with chips, bread roll and salad for lunch and dinner every day, (toast for breakfast).
The buffet is lukewarm too, although there is a microwave that I’d definitely recommend using!
The bar was nice, but definitely understaffed. The Spanish were served before us too, even if we’d been stood there waiting for a while!
It’s about a 15 min walk to the beach, and far enough away from the party capital to enjoy your sleep!
The only real downfall was the food and the fact that they don’t understand veggies!
It’s also mainly Spanish guests that don’t seem to like the British, and didn’t want to wait for the lifts or food, and were quite rude around the hotel.
An expensive holiday for an all inclusive hotel that didn’t make you feel welcome if your English! It’s also very hilly on the paths to and from the beach, not good if not very mobile, it’s out of the way.. there wasn’t much to do, definitely wasn’t worth the money we paid, the food was Luke warm, even when we went in as soon as it opened, I would not recommend, it’s definitely more for Spanish holiday makers…
The Medina Hotels (hotel Cuco, Sol Y Sombra and Olympus) in Benidorm are consistently clean, modern and comfortable. This time we opted for Olympus as its a little bit larger and the pool is quite large -which suits us as a family.
We didnt want to be near the razzle dazzle of Benidorm new town -we prefer a quieter more Spanish holiday -so this is why we selected to stay here...
Olympus is located a few blocks away from Poniente beach in Benidorm - its in the charming streets toward the back of the town -so all the rooms look out on quiet residential streets. You can glimpse the sea from the pool on the roof -but all rooms will be looking out onto the street.
We enjoyed watching the world go by and seeing how the real residents of Benidorm went about their day.
The room was spacious and well appointed. Excellent bathroom with both a rainfall shower and a directional shower.
Fantastic hotel staff very friendly and help full there to assist Anytime. Would highly recommend this hotel will defo be back great location the rooftop pool and bar were kept very clean Ana that works on the rooftop bar was very friendly and helped me with my little bit of spanish rooms and dinning were allso very good food was great
Really like this hotel, have stayed there 3 times now. Great choice of food, my only negative is the lack of sugar free cold drinks available. I am diabetic and would like to see Fanta zero or similar. Only had Diet Coke available to me.
