Sandos Benidorm Suites

I just want to start this review by saying I never leave negative reviews but with the money we paid to stay here I feel I must leave an honest review of our stay.

Our bathroom and our friends bathroom next door smelt horrendous from arrival, we told reception staff and unfortunately nothing was done about this. Before we booked I had seen a review regarding the smell however I assumed it would be a one off. It has really put me off ever going back to Sandos the smell was horrendous and staff didn’t take our concerns seriously I’m not sure if it’s a drainage issue but it was awful if we left the bathroom door open it filled the entire room with the smell of fish/ urine. We dreaded using the bathroom our entire stay. The bathroom as a whole didn’t feel clean it felt like it needed a good bleach.

We had a meal at the on site Indian restaurant included in our 6 night stay however when we checked in the lady on reception did not tell us how to book our meal or that the restaurant was fully booked and also closed for 2 days of our stay! Had we known this we would have booked it as soon as we checked in. By day 2 we realised we had to book at reception as someone who had stayed at the hotel previously let us know and they said it’s fully booked for the next 2 nights then closed for 2 nights! I can’t understand why they wouldn’t tell us this on arrival.

The bar staff and snack bar staff were lovely but I found the reception staff to be extremely unhelpful.

The buffet food for breakfast was absolutely fine but the buffet food at dinner time was below average. The hotel itself is lovely we liked the snack bar, the pool, the entertainment and lobby area but the rooms really let the place down the bed was really uncomfortable and the rooms need updating.

Overall we had a nice time but I do wish our feedback regarding the rooms were taken more seriously I think there are much nicer 4 star hotels in Benidorm.

Arrival was nice and easy. Room wasn’t ready so we left our things and had a look around. It’s actually smaller than you think. Reception and lobby area were bright and modern. Little games area. 1st impressions outside not great, Pool area busy pool small for the amount of guests. Hotel looks like a large grey multi story car park.

Snack bar was good, just the long queues to get anything was a joke! Some people were queuing to just get and ice cream but had to wait. 1st drinks were not great, and unfortunately that never changed. No good drink. Food always just warm, The layout of the restaurant is so weird. Some dessert over here and some over there. I just didn’t like it the set up was stupid. And the food not the best. Breakfast was the best choice and quality.

Room- horrible it stank on arrival, maybe the previous people were smelly smokers but I went reception and told them. They said they will sort something. They sent a cleaner that obviously hated us for saying something and she just walked round saying where? She sprayed air freshener and left. I didn’t feel comfortable in there at all. Dark dingy smelly. Bed sheets cheap and nasty and even had hair still on. Room wasn’t clean and dusted. Good Large balcony. Good view we were level 10

Entertainment I thought was actually okay. It’s obviously not professional standards but it’s all fun they really try hard. and they had a good singer sometimes. Kids disco. They also did some pool aqua aerobics. Lots joined in. Can’t comment on anything for small kids as I didn’t have any. But you better believe they will run around inside and out, like crazy shouting and no one tells them to stop.

Booked the Indian well how embarrassing is that to call it an Indian!!! The bread they served was a pizza bread not naan bread lol, the curry was horrible I couldn’t eat it, I chose the veg curry and it was tasteless and like baby food mushy. Had to go to the buffet after which isn’t best.

COCKROACHES! Yes everywhere here. Especially downstairs in the toilets. Freak me out the way they run so fast and the lights are automatic so they turn of on you when your on toilet I decided not to use those toilets ever again. But same in lobby toilets next to bar, cockroach in there. Disgusting, and yes I did tell reception.

Last day the cleaner kept trying our room checkout is 12 so why is she bursting in at 9 and then again 10 and again 11 GO AWAY! Not like they bothered cleaning the whole week but now they are suddenly desperate to get in a clean. When we went to breakfast we put do not disturb on door because of her earlier behaviour, and when we returned she had put her brush and stuff in front of our door, had to move to get back in. Really annoying!

Overall I have no idea why people return here. They must have very low standards if this is their best place on earth to holiday.

We had a better time outside the hotel. Didn’t witness any mugging or anything bad around the hotel. Easy to get beach, and shops and strip. Went out a lot So we still enjoyed our time on holiday.

Just got back. Absolutely amazing hotel/suites. Spacious, clean great decor, friendly accommodating staff. Loads of space around the clean decent sized pool. Plenty of sunbeds always available. Food excellent and restaurant spacious - outside snack bar available. About 15 minute walk to the livelier part so the hotel is quiet at night. Suites more than adequate with balcony, large sofa, fridge and table. TV has British channels. One out of the four lifts wasn’t working but never a queue. Totally recommend this place.
