Lovely modern hotel check in simple all COVID precautions in place . As it was our first time staying in this hotel we were given a free upgrade on our room which was very spacious with a large balcony with a sea view . Beds were comfortable and room and bathroom were spotlessly clean
We stayed with our family in Hotel Ilunion Fuengirola in the beginning of week of May 2021. I will start off with positives:
Great location right at beachfront, but at the same time pretty much in center of city with oads of shops and restaurants and also train station nearby.
Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful, always smiling...
Perhaps understanding of English wasnt best at all times, but we had no issues left unsolved or questions unanswered.
Due to Covid restrictions, food service was not really as we expected. Main issue was with that it became really repetitive very fast. We stayed there for entire week and for kids, every single meal included french fries and some deep fried meat. For adults, one could order either some meat or fish meal and breakfast was the same basically every time (some buns, coffee, roasted bread, fried egg and fruits).
Hotel pool was pretty small and had sun from early morning until around 15-16.00 and water was very cold. Hotel lobby and service areas looked really cool and nice, but rooms we stayed in could definitely need some renovation. Air conditioning button was missing, so you could really only turn it on or off, but not change the temperature. Plugs in walls were not placed properly and could easily come out and quite a few furniture elements were either broken or loose. Rooms were clean though, as was hotel overall.
Overall feel was more 3-star hotel, but prices we got were good and value for money on nice level.
This is a beautiful hotel situated overlooking the sea in Fuengirola. Close to a variety of bars and restaurants with good variety of cuisine. The hotel is very modern , spotlessly clean and has a bar and restaurant of its own if you prefer to stay in...
The staff were very helpful and a special mention to Irene on the front desk. Great rooms with full bathroom and a lovely terrace. Only downside for me was the bed was rather uncomfortable for me being a bit lumpy. Shame considering the rest was so good .
beautiful location and very nice and trendy reception, but once in the elevators the appearance is much less, the elevators wobble upwards, the furniture in the room needs to be renewed, the lampshades are stained. although it was stated and also mentioned in the answers of the restaurant that the rooms have coffee and tea making facilities, this was not the case in our room. we had a "superior room" with sea view "but there was not much" superior "about it...
Because of Corona breakfast was served on a plate at the table but it was the same every day, only after we heard a family about it during breakfast complaining was asked if there should be toast, eggs or youhurt.Dinner should be served warmer
We’ve stayed at the Illunion Hotel a couple of times, returning yesterday from our most recent visit.
The hotel has been overhauled, and the reception and bar area were both fresh and modern. The dining room on the 1st floor also continued with this theme and had wonderful views to the sea from its large windows...
The rooms were comfortable, and the shower (over bath) was powerful with plenty of hot water. We had room 305 which had a king size bed and great views to the beach and sea. There was a fridge in the room but no tea/coffee facilities, this may be a covid measure though!
We opted for ‘room only’ this last visit as the hotel has numerous restaurants on the doorstep, and the slimmed down waiter service covid breakfast was limited. I’m sure in normal times the buffet would be ample and very good. Literally opposite the hotel on the square are some incredible restaurants, Carihuela Chica for fish, Bahia Restaurante for meat, and a wonderful Lebanese restaurant Casa Beirut. Fuengirola has so much to offer it’s incredible, we want to move there!
The train station is around the corner along with numerous shops, chemists, beauty places etc, there is literally everything you could want in a destination. Across the road from the hotel is the beach with sunbeds and beach restaurants.
We had a great time exploring and will definitely be back.
One more thing and ‘last but definitely not least’, the staff were lovely and really accommodating. Thanks to Julia and Babou on reception, Marisa our room lady, and the bar & breakfast staff, all deserve an award especially during these trying times where they are working extra hard doing everything as they are short staffed thanks to Covid! Well done and thank you all.
