Nice hotel, let down badly by restaurant

We had a lovely room on 8th floor great view. Had all we needed, comfy beds, good shower, hairdryer, kettle, (the tea was abysmal though) and safe. Most areas of hotel were clean and sanitizer everywhere! Also staff were very keen on everyone being masked up...

However, the restaurant where to start? More like 2 star. No one on meet & greet to ensure all guests sanitized, or to enforce dress code, Its very annoying when the majority make an effort to dress appropriately for dinner then they allow people in to dinner in scruffy shorts, T shirts , hoodies & baseball caps. This is supposed to be a 4 star restaurant-it was more like a transport cafe/school canteen, there were no table cloths , except on one night when most of the food seemed to be curry, The food at dinner our first two nights was very poor, and was marginally less poor the ret of our stay. Most veg appeared to be the frozen variety, peas, mixed veg & sprouts, all overcooked and not hot. Staff seemed clueless as to the idea of 'show cooking' they cut all the joint up and left it in a tin and then disappeared, which is a shame as there was some lovely pork and lamb. There were several dishes to choose from, different most nights, but the choice of dessert was the same . Breakfast was a bit better with a good selection. The restaurant staff were pleasant very good at clearing away used plates etc. the problem seems to be in the kitchen.

The evening entertainment was patchy, the duo that was on twice may have been quite good if we could have heard them over the far too loud backing tracks. "Elvis" and the "Il Divo" were very good. We went out most days so I don't know about daytime entertainment.

My advice, go B&B, take your own T bags, and eat out at night.

Very good hotel

Been here ten days. First impressions excellent. Emailed before we came and asked for high room...

Got top floor with fantastic sea view. Room serviced to a high standard every day. Free kettle coffee tea and safe. English channels on TV again free. Never had a problem in the restaurant although sometimes the food can be repetitive as in any hotel for two weeks. The previous complaint about hard boiled poached eggs only stands up if you take the eggs already poached. Just ask the helpful lady cooking and bingo she sets a timer and out come perfect poached eggs. Our only complaint would be the Tui advice that only long trousers can be worn by men in the evening in the restaurant, no shorts, and that a strict dress code is in operation. Oh no it isn’t. Scruffs appeared every evening in shorts and T shirts. Even on Gala night. Come on Yaramar. Enforce your stated dress code otherwise down hill you go. Covid precautions ok. Lifts are fast and being top floor we never had a problem but those on lower floors may have to wait as only those in a family unit can occupy the Lift at any one time. Weather was excellent and our trip to Gibraltar booked locally at 28 Euros was fine. Entertainment free with happy hour 8-10 every night. Overall would recommend the Yaramar. Thanks.

First Visit to Fuengirola

Just returned from the Yaramar. The hotel itself was very good and the staff were very polite. The reception staff, cleaning staff, pool bar staff and bar staff were excellent and very friendly...

The hotel is very clean and plenty of covid 19 measures.

Our room was on the 9th floor, very clean if a little dated, but had a lovely sea view. The room had brilliant powerful shower and comfortable beds. It made a refreshing change to be offered free safe with complimentary tea/coffee making tray provided.

I do however have some criticisms. The first being the day time and evening entertainment. The resident band were terrible. In my opinion they could not hold a tune. The entertainment on the whole was not up to the standard of a Gold Hotel. The three young entertainment team provided three really excellent shows during our stay but they were definitely not very experience in “customer experience”. In fact not one of them spoke to us during our stay.

The second criticism is the restaurant. The evening meals are such a disappointment. The food is repetitive and very bland. The staff gave the impression they did not want to be there. Not one member of the restaurant staff spoke to us during our stay except to ask for our room number and drinks order. There was no greeting when you entered the restaurant and no acknowledgment when you departed. Never been to a hotel where the staff have been less interested in providing a good service to the guests.

The food was lukewarm at best. I understand that Covid restrictions might hinder some things but surely hot food should be hot? There was too much deep fried food not a lot of choice and the choice on offer was not good. The meals were very “samey”. I have never stayed in a hotel were the choice of deserts was so repetitive – If you like jelly, custard and ice cream you were all set. Food items were not labelled so it was difficult to make a choice.

Breakfast was okay. However the poached eggs were hard and there were no kitchen staff around to freshly cook omelettes for you. The tea and coffee from the machine were both dreadful.

Not sure if we would return to the hotel. Was so disappointment as the hotel gets such rave reviews. This hotel was let down by the staff and meals in the dining room which is such a shame.
