Nerja

This enchanting hotel is located directly in the centre of Nerja, just a 5-minute walk from the famous Balcony of Europe viewpoint and 300 m from the beach. The airport is about 45 minutes’ ride away. An array of shops, restaurants, bars, pubs, nightclubs and public transport connections are just a stone's throw away. Breakfast and dinner can be enjoyed at the on-site buffet-style restaurant, where guests can sample delicious Mediterranean specialties in a cosy and friendly atmosphere. Travellers are invited to take a refreshing dip into the open air swimming pool and soak up the sun, while lazing on a sun lounger. The well-equipped rooms are decorated with a classic and elegant style to make each guests’ stay the most pleasant and unforgettable one.

Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.

Avoid, overpriced for substandard rooms.

Hi, I stayed here recently April 2022, the rooms were substandard and over priced at €560 for the week. The breakfast food wasn't great at all. Out biggest issue there was no WIFI, as I was working off my emails, also my partner is diabetic and wears a sensor on her arm to alert her, if her sugar levels fluctuate during the night...

We flagged this with a girl called Christina, hoping she could help us.

Christina wasn't a very nice person to deal with and definitely needs to do a training course in customer service. As she wasn't helpful in anyway.

The only way I got a reaction from them when I mentioned refunding my money and go to another hotel. Even then it was an effort to move us to another room.

Christina's asked us to walk around the hotel floors and check on our phones which area had the best WIFI connection. That's the service your paying for.

She wasn't nice or polite and didn't know how to handle customer complaints. We found Christina to be very rude, dismissive and refused to talk to us, just standing in silence, ignored us really. Hoping we would go away.

AVOID THIS HOTEL AT ALL COSTS.

We shopped around that week for hotels to stay next time. Plenty of lovely hotels in Nerja.

Highly recommended hotel

Review by Gwespyr Rhyl, United Kingdom

We stayed for four weeks from early January 2022 and were extremely satisfied with the hotel, the staff and our overall time there. We had room 306 which is on the top floor and looked out over the plaza, called Plaza Cronista Pepe Pascual, at the rear of the hotel. It had a small balcony that gave views of the lovely mountain backdrop to the town but one drawback was that it did not get the sun due to it being generally north facing. It is worth stating that no rooms in the hotel that look south, and towards the town centre, have balconies. The reception, which is spacious, always had staff available and they were very helpful when asked for advice or information...

Booking in was easy and quick on our arrival and the lift and stairway to the upper floors are adjacent to the reception desk. The room was very comfortable although it could have benefited from an additional easy chair as people do not always want to sit on the bed to relax. Whilst talking about additional furniture a small table on the balcony would have been beneficial and would compliment the two chairs there. The bathroom was more than adequate although those who like a soak in the bath will be disappointed as there wasn't one! However, the shower, which had a monsoon head, was excellent with lots of hot water that is delivered in a strong, steady flow. The bed was very comfortable although those hoping for a double bed will be disappointed as the hotel follows what seems to be a Spanish 'tradition' of providing two singles. Those of a 'romantic' notion will have to endure the 'great divide' if the beds are pushed together. The decor of the room as well as the rest of the hotel was very nice, very clean and very tidy. Housekeeping called every day and towels can be changed frequently because if they are dirty then the resident can just leave them on the floor of the bathroom and clean ones are left. One small issue with the wardrobe in room 306 is that the sliding mirrored doors are quite heavy to move and did have a habit of getting slightly stuck. After four weeks that issue does get a little wearing as they have to be move frequently to access the safe. At this point it is worth noting that there is no additional charge for air conditioning and the use of the safe as instructions for the use of the latter are on the safe itself - each room occupant can choose their own combination number. A kettle is also available free of charge for making that all important brew in the morning! As previously stated we stayed for four weeks and it was on a half board basis. The breakfast is served in the dining room which is situated just behind the reception area. the range of food was excellent with the usual continental cold selection and a hot option as well. Various drinks were available, both hot and cold, as well as toast and small cakes. It was all self service but there was never a time when any of the items were lacking in either quantity or quality. The hot breakfast consisted of bacon, eggs (fried, boiled and scrambled), small sausages and baked beans. The cold breakfast had cold meats, various cheese, yogurts and various juices. In all our time at the hotel there was little deviation in the breakfast menu. The arrangements for the evening meal were very different. We appeared to be the only people staying on a half board basis and so we had our evening meal in the bar next door which is called Ole Ole. It has to be stated that the bar next door used to form part of the hotel but was sold on but there is still a connecting door between the two establishments and so we did not have to go outside to go for our meal. Our review for Ole Ole is under their heading but we were very, very happy with the food served, as well as the service, and never left feeling that we needed anything else to eat. There is a small swimming pool on the roof and sun loungers are also available in the same location. We could not use the swimming pool as it was out of season and so the hotel had fenced off the pool area. It has to be stated that there were no bar facilities available during our stay but access to Ole Ole Cafe Bar next door was easy. Also, there were no car parking facilities that we saw so if a hire car is used then it will have to be parked on the street. The location of the hotel is excellent as it is on the edge of the town centre and it takes about 5 - 10 minutes to walk into the centre of town or down to the beach. A local bus service stops outside the hotel and there are several supermarkets in the immediate area. If a launderette is required there is one at the opposite end of Tutti Frutti Square which is cheap, very clean and soap powder comes in the price. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel and if we were to return to stay at Nerja we would certainly stay again.

Cheap & cheerful

Review by ChrisA954 Heath Charnock, United Kingdom

We stayed for 4 weeks during February 2022 & enjoyed our visit. The hotel is cheap to stay, it is clean & the staff are very pleasant & helpful, especially Wolfgang on reception who was always willing to explain anything we wanted to know about Nerja. The hotel isn’t classy but we only used it as a base to shower & sleep so we were fine with it. The only issue was the breakfast food being barely warm, although there is a microwave oven to heat food properly. Right next door is an authentic Spanish tapas bar which we used quite often, along with other nice bars & restaurants very close by. Nerja centre is 5 minutes walk away & is beautiful.

Brilliant Hotel

Review by CindersandButtons Newport, United Kingdom

Having stayed here for two weeks in November due to cancellation of our Tui holiday, I can only say “Thank you Tui”. As a group of 4 visiting friends, we were left with days to rearrange our holiday and booked directly with the hotel (thanks Virginia for your help). This hotel was absolutely brilliant...

It is centrally located and close to everything you could need or want from your visit to Nerja. It is surrounded by bars and restaurants, nearby supermarkets, chemists and there is a bus stop opposite the hotel. The rooms, although not huge, were good value and cleaned daily with fresh towels supplied. Lovely bathroom, excellent shower, plenty of wardrobe space, comfy, comfy beds and pillows ( a must for me), air conditioning - hot or cold and blankets if needed. Breakfast was plentiful and constantly replenished. They even provided a kettle when I asked. Very compliant with COVID protocols. Hand sanitising stations in all public areas, staggered meal times, mask wearing adhered to. The rooftop sun terrace was the icing on the cake. A lovely sun trap. The staff were amazing, especially Virginia, Carmen, Wolfgang and Christina. We have previously stayed at the Toboso Apart-Tunis near the Balcon but this was even better. Keep up the good work everyone. Thank you for an amazing stay. I cannot fault you. We will be back!

Amazing service rooms and value plus superb breakfast

Review by Nickmccartie Cambridge, United Kingdom

We (a group that booked 4 rooms) stayed here in November 2021 for two nights, the location is excellent and in walking distance from all the nice bits of Nerja. The hotel is immaculately clean and they take covid precautions very seriously, they even provide a bottle of hand gel in you room for you to take with you when youre out and about exploring. the staff from the cleaners to the reception to the restaurant are all amazing, really warm, friendly and happy to help...

We booked bed and breakfast and were pleasantly surprised by the quality and choice of breakfast on offer. This is my 5th time staying at Toboso Chaparil and it is my 1st choice when staying in Nerja despite having stayed several times at the balcon de europa hotel. Although there is no dedicated parking at the hotel there is plenty of free parking available in the surrounding streets and unless youre here in july/august you will get parked easily. Finally although all the staff were outstanding I would like to say a special thank you to Andreas ( I may have spelt this wrong ) who does the night shift, despite us checking in at 23.00 hours he took the time to show me the hotels new features that had been put in since my last visit.
