So pleased to get back to the Marinas again ,we had booked for April 2020 but this damn virus put a stop to that for everyone. First time we've been in October and would certainly return again this time of year the weather was perfect. As for the Marinas what can I say ? Just fantastic full credit to all the staff from the reception, bar staff, cooks, cleaners and handymen you're all doing a great job in what is still a difficult time.On arrival we entered our room to find a bottle of bubbly and a large bowl of fruit ,two days later on my birthday we had yet another bottle of bubbly left in the room for our return...
Many thanks to you all 👏👏 Will we return for a 6th visit you may ask ? Well it's a big yes in fact booked a week again for next April for this jewel of a hotel . Looking forward to getting back again Steve & Jane
We are a family party of 11, Age range 4 to 70. We have just returned from Marinas and it was fantastic. The staff were excellent: Food was great: Rooms spacious and well equipped: The 2 pools were lovely: Location next to the beach was excellent and a short walk to Nerja: Evening entertainment and daytime activities were very good. This was a great place to holiday.
It is a nice hotel right at the beach but it needs some improvements. First of all the swimming pool needs heating because end of October it was freezing cold. The sea was very cold for October compared to Crete for example. So the swimming pool could do with a bit of heat up from solar panels for example. The swimming pool was good for heat attack check up. If you dive and don’t get a heart attack from the cold you are ok. Another issue is that they could have a mini bus service to drop off customers at the Nerja center....given the fact that many customers were pensioners.... If you go to that hotel you need to have transportation available because the place is in considerable distance from other places ...like Malaga for example. Another thing I was not impressed with, and that can be fault of TUI there were no DAY EXCURSIONS to places to visit where they would come and pick you up with a bus and take you to places. That is why I mentioned that you need transportation if you are in that hotel...otherwise you are stranded in the middle of nowhere..... Good thing the animation team kept us busy with lovely events...
Energetic friendly guys kept us busy and amused all the times. Apartments had a funny sound insulation between toilets of rooms....you could heat the next room toilet for some reason. The room we were given, the couch in the living room was turning into a massive double bed that consumed all the space in the living room, making it impractical to walk around. SPA was great but a bit pricy for extra 12 euros per person per visit....and not included in the room price... We also asked the highest floor possible but given initially ground floor....thanks TUI....
We have returned today from this hotel. We have enjoyed our stay here. The room we stayed in was spacious, nicely furnished and spotlessly clean...
The staff were very helpful and courteous throughout our stay. The location right on the beach is lovely with a very pleasant walk along the promenade into nerja itself. We did this most days, the walk takes about 40 minutes into the centre of nerja. It is quite a long walk but it is possible to catch the bus into nerja. It stops outside the hotel and is only a euro. We did this towards the end of the holiday and walked back, as it was quite tiring to walk both ways.
The hotel itself is very well geared up to families. As much as we enjoyed our stay there,as a couple we probably would choose another hotel another time as the mealtimes were busy and chaotic, buffet style, and far from relaxing. They often involved long queues outside the dining room waiting for a table as they do not book tables. To our amazement we even witnessed children on scooters in the dining room and saw no sign of challenge. The food however, was good and plentiful and of a good quality overall.
The entertainment we thought was somewhat poor for a hotel of this size, one night there was nothing at all and other than a lovely singer one night the rest in our view was mediocre.
We had issues with noise whereby guests were talking in loud voices into the small hours several nights. I do not understand why checks are not made to ensure this does not happen on a regular basis when guests bedrooms are directly above and to the sides of this area. We were not the only people to experience this problem this week.
Having said this, the marina de nerja hotel is a lovely family hotel, family being the key word. For couples choosing to stay there, I would opt for bed and breakfast and have a more relaxing meal in the town of nerja. I would also ask for a room well away from the patio to avoid noise from inconsiderate guests.
I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. We just spent an idyllic week there in a lovely room, with incredible all inclusive food and drink, fabulous setting and wonderfully attentive staff. Thank you so much for a memorable stay that made our holiday special.
