This is my second visit to hotel tropical in fueteventura. Last year I can by myself and found it very friendly, low key and safe. This year I can back with my daughter and we had a lovely relaxing week. It’s a 3 * and is perfectly adequate for a quiet getaway. The buffet restaurant caters for adults and kids and does its best to cater for all tastes. My daughter and I also visited the beauty salon. She had a gel manicure and I had a massage by the lovely Natalia. Not well published at all, but well worth booking in for all your spa needs. I highly recommend Natalia at perfect beauty. 🌟
Had a week’s family holiday here and would say that this place is your average three (ish) star hotel. Unfortunately, this place just isn’t really geared up for kids. The entertainment package that is advertised, is just one lovely man who does his best. No kids entertainment or kids club. Food pretty average, and not very tailored to children unless they are interested in cold chips. Only some of the food items are labelled, the rest is a guess. Themed food nights had some alright dishes. Rooms were average. Cleaners come in almost everyday (expect Wednesday or Sunday). No clean mugs provided though, you get to reuse the same two mugs the whole time. Sheets and towels only changed once a week. A lot of pigeons around the hotel that like to sit on the balcony, bird poo is not cleaned up so your outside furniture ends up covered. Additionally, the whole of the outside hotel is covered in dog poo, with no attempt pick any of it up. Broken tiles all over the floor which could end up being a hazard. This place could really do with a maintenance team. Unhelpful reception staff when power kept cutting out in a room throughout the week. Best feature of this hotel is the salt water pool, it’s absolutely lovely. Plenty of sun-beds and parasols around. Drinks were okay and pool side bar is nice. They do end up playing music from the same playlist everyday. The next town over is very nice and close to the hotel, it’s an average 4 Euro taxi drive away. It’s your average tourist town with plenty choice for both bars and food. If you want a later check out, you probably won’t get it as all our rooms where booked again and we could only have them till 2pm. They say that you can have “suitcase storage” downstairs, which consists of a tiny cupboard that is overfull and then they offer you to put all your luggage in the bar area. Not secure at all.
It’s a 3 star hotel you get what you expect. Basic food but enough to get you by. Pools lovely & so are the staff.
Budget hotel for a budget holiday.
Okay first up, location. Literally off the end of the runway. No aircraft noise like, but the hotel is just under the final approach so the transfer time is literally minutes. Unfortunately watching planes land was the best part of the entertainment at this hotel…
Entertainment. Poolside by the day there was a polo game once and a darts tournament once. Just one chap is the whole animation team. He seemed friendly enough but he’s not got much to work with realistically. Evening entertainment wise was just someone djing with YouTube on a laptop offering karaoke.
Bars: we booked this hotel over another one (same price). The other had much nicer rooms etc but we loved that this one had a swim up bar. I’ve always wanted to stay somewhere with a swim up bar! Well I’m still wanting.. turns out the swim up is not set up to serve, they don’t staff it and it’s basically a pool ornament. Unbelievably disappointing. Shouldn’t be advertised (Jet2 holidays we booked via) if they’re not actually using it. There was only ever one bar open at the whole hotel and only one staff member ever on the bar. Queues were constant. Really felt lacking. Drink selection was standard local beer and soft drinks. The hotel operates a reusable cup/token scheme so there’s les pot clearing to be done, basically if you don’t keep hold of your cup and bring it back. No drink for you! It works to keep things tidy sure but it can be annoying carting your cup everywhere.
Sunbeds/parasols: plentiful. No silly 6am sunbed wars. We strolled down about 10ish every morning and had no bother obtaining a couple beds and a parasol.
Pool: HUGE, a bit chilly but refreshing. DEEP. No shallow end or children’s pool so families should beware.
Rooms: huge. But we were once again disappointed. We booked a pool view. I’ll attach the photos… the rooms are insanely huge, could easily sleep a family of 6 as they’ve got two bedrooms, living space and a sizeable bathroom. The linen was clean, beds comfortable enough and towels supplied. The floor though was vile. Really needed a proper deep scrub and mop. We were incredibly disappointed with our balcony situation. Tiny, brick built to chest height and two plastic chairs. Not a drop of sun. None of the pool view we had booked. Had to stand up to see anything but even then it’s a service road and some bins… Raised the issue with jet2 who spoke to the hotel and the hotel apparently ‘confirmed’ we were in a pool view room… I’m not blind. The pool was at the other side of the hotel!
Food: repetitive. First of all the fresh pastries for breakfast were some of the best I’ve ever had. Kudos there. Fruit juices and coffee machines all on offer and a basic cooked and continental available. Once the pancakes were empty, they weren’t refilled so never got to taste one. There is food available throughout the day with hot dogs, salad and burgers available as snacks between mealtimes. Lunchtime menu was a bit more varied. Pork stew two days running and a fish dish. A very watery soup and some cold cuts. Always some salad and veg available. One day paella was available. Evening meal was whatever was for lunch, again but with a few other sides available. It was repetitive and by day 3 we walked into the restaurant, looked, walked out and went out to eat.
Staff: they are desperately understaffed and we found everyone we encountered was absolutely lovely and did the best they could. The problems are obviously well above their pay grade. I have no complaints about the staff on site as they definitely do their best.
Bonus: it’s 5 euros tops into the main town where there’s loads on offer to see and do. There’s some lovely excursions on offer that can be booked via the hotel too. Highly recommend the Oby catamaran trips booked via hotel reception. Also you can rent electric scooters from outside the hotel and take the scenic coastal path into town. Works out a little more than a taxi but it’s sure fun!
Overall, I’m glad I paid £300pp for this trip because if I’d paid more I’d have been fuming, if I returned for some reason I wouldn’t bother with all inclusive. I’m also glad I didn’t bring my preteen as she’d have been bored stiff.
I wouldn’t say avoid this place, it was cheap sun, I would say be aware of what you’re booking and don’t expect more than you bargain for.
We must have visited this hotel over 30 in the past. Clean and cheap and cheerful, you get what you pay for. However, we arrived yesterday and a new rule was in place. One small cup was given and that is what you use !! It's smaller than a half pint glass.you are only allowed one drink per person when visiting the bar. It's always been two. The hotel is full and the ques are horrendous. Breakfast was cold and the coffee machines not working. I fear that because this is a reasonably priced hotel that they are now taking advantage of the holiday maker. Very sad but think this will be the last time here. Pay a little more and receive more. Shame on you hotel manager.
