- KN Matas Blancas

Perfect for adults, this quiet hotel is located on the upper part of the resort, with privileged views over Costa Calma. There are countless shops, restaurants, bars and pubs in the hotel vicinity, and the centre of Costa Calma is 2.9 KM away. This is an ideal place for a relaxing holiday under the warm Canary sun.
This hotel is supposed to be a 4* hotel, entertainment only 3 nights a week. Local area when open a couple of good bars and a not bad beach.
A lot of things make this a 2* rather than a 4*.
On the plus side the rooms are nice. The bathrooms are good and the hotel is spotlessly clean.
I would have expected a little more variation on the food.
Me and my partner visited for a week to this hotel (got back today) and we thoroughly enjoyed every minute of our stay. It's located a bit out the way, which means there are some lovely walks and small shops when out and about - but realistically no more than a 20 minute drive away from any major activity.
The staff were warm, welcoming and made our stay effortless. There was always someone available to offer help when needed.
The room was clean, tidy and spacious (cleaned daily if needed), with a rainfall shower head and clean towels for both the sun loungers and bathroom. The only down side was we had two single beds pushed together but for a week's stay it was manageable.
The food was amazing (see the photos), the variety and quality was top notch and there wasn't a meal that was repeated during our stay - you could also request food to be made between meal times and there was an option for a picnic to be prepared if you were going out on a day trip.
The hotel opts for a single use cup scheme during the day and by the pool so there is zero waste in the public areas, and staff aren't walking around collecting empty cups which for us is a bonus, especially when you're half asleep by the pool!
The hotel also offers plenty of amenities such as a laundrette, gym, football/basketball court, pool, ping pong table, small shop, and spa (which you get 2 hours free access if flying with Jet2) there was also a rainy/cloudy day during our stay so the staff opened up the spa to everyone all day because of the weather.
Overall we had a great stay and would recommend this to anyone!
Lots of solo travellers at this hotel a mix of ages, i was a solo traveller and met 7 other solo travellers so would recommend if you're solo travelling. Facilities Have a €1 for ur Cup at the pool no €1 no plastic cup and you cant take glass in to the pool area! Pool opens at 10am and shuts at 6pm prompt. Never had a issue with space for sunbed. Pool area very clean and tidy no pool entertainment so very chilled. Gym is okay has a few weights and treadmill weights are rough on your hands so bring your gym gloves it says 9pm/9pm but I was in there 8am most mornings as there is a small fan no air con! Mini golf sound good but its pretty small and naff Nudity area is on the top floor I decided to have a look its a few sunbed and a shower its not very clean. Food/bar One small bar (loby bar) had roof terrace its nice but goes cooler in the evening. Disco bar was empty had entertainment 3 nights out of 7. Pool bar small one lady short hair glasses was vert good on her day off the person who manned the bar was hardly there waited 15mins to get served has she has wondered off. Food; breakfast by far the best meal the rest were passable (lost of veg each day inc sprouts and broccoli) Local area Market on sun and Thursday is about 15 min walk from the hotel down the hill then from there you an walk to the beach and shopping area (up a large hill) shopping area had few bars and few shops usual holiday tat! 2 spars for crisp/water etc. Electronic Scooters are dotted about easy to use down loaded brid app and use the one week free trail as you can use them for 20mins for £2.16 (€2.50) which is cheaper then pay by mile ( to town cost £9.50 1st time in used them before I use free trial
I stayed at KN Matas Blanca for my very first solo holiday, and I can honestly say it was the perfect place to do it.
From the moment I arrived, the staff made me feel so welcome. They found out it was my birthday and surprised me by arranging a bottle of cava in my room, which was such a thoughtful touch.
I’d also say to ignore some of the negative reviews. I found the hotel clean throughout my stay, I didn’t get bitten once, and the only cockroach I “saw” was part of a prank from some friends I’d made at the hotel… so hardly a hotel issue! 😂
A special mention has to go to Simba, the hotel cat, who is an absolute celebrity. He’s incredibly friendly and is clearly treated like the prince he is.
The staff really made this holiday. Rosi at the pool bar was incredible - always smiling, full of energy, and somehow remembered everyone. Her work ethic deserves a medal. Gabriel was also fantastic (and, not that anyone asked… very easy on the eyes 👀), and every member of staff I spoke to was friendly and helpful.
The spa was lovely too. If you fancy trying the ice bath, I can personally confirm… it is NOT messing around. It is genuinely ice cold.
The food is what you’d expect from a buffet - plenty of choice and something for everyone. Most importantly, I ate everything, enjoyed it, and didn’t end up with a dodgy stomach, so that’s a win in my book!
A few things I’d improve:
Overall, this hotel gave me exactly what I needed for my first solo adventure. I felt safe, welcomed, relaxed, made some brilliant friends, and even felt comfortable enough to sunbathe topless without worrying about tan lines.
Would I come back? Absolutely.
Final verdict: 5⭐️… but only on one condition.
KN Matas Blanca… hire me as your Head of Animation Team, and I’ll see you all again very soon. 😉
Wouldn't go back, when we checked in to our rooms there was pubic hairs on the wall around the toilet, coffee stains up the door and wall, the fridge wasn't working and was warm, the shower heads weren't functioning and the water pressure was significantly low, then after we looked around the room we went for a spot of lunch in the hotel restaurant, when we got the chicken we cut it open and it was completely raw that raw that it was purple and bloody still! Awful variety of food bolognese for 5 days In a row, mouldy fruit at breakfast, pasta was either undercooked or overcooked I’ve had better food in prison than this slop! was unable to get coffee or tea for the evening meal, all the carbonated drinks were losing the syrup and it tasted like soda water and this was an ongoing issue, There was no water sports or activity in the pool during the day and no entertainment in the evening and it was stated when we booked the holiday that it would have both of these things, that's a real let down! But we later found out that the reason there was no entertainment was because the person had be fired the week before, We had all inclusive which was very poor lots of cheap rubbish included no good quality, there was a lot of hidden added extras around the hotel which were never stated or brought to attention upon arrival! You couldn't sit in the lobby covered in cat hairs, ripped to shreds and the seats were disgustingly grubby!
The staff were rude and obnoxious any problem you had you couldn’t go to them they, were rude!
