This hotel is really really good with helpful and friendly staff throughout. We stayed for 6 days on an All Inclusive basis. It is without doubt, the best food we have ever had at an AI hotel. There were different dishes available every day, one day including freshly carved kebab meat, and a chocolate fountain on another day. There were always lots of options ranging from fish, chicken, pork, lots of different types of salads, and breads. Not the usual 'samey' feel that you get with the food at most AI hotels. The only slight downside is there were not enough staff in the Victoria Lounge bar, and queues to get drinks were long. There was never a problem finding sunloungers and no rush by guests to reserve them. Even at 11am there were sunloungers still available. I was sitting by the pool at 9am, and there were only 4 other sunloungers reserved! I have never known anything like it, in a good way. The resort of Costa Calma is very quiet but has several options for nice restaurants and bars quite near the hotel, and a couple of large Spar supermarkets. The local beach is very nice, but it is a very windy island. Taxis are expensive. We took a taxi to Jandia, a 15 minute drive away, and it cost nearly 30 euros one way. Jandia is a beautiful beach and quite a large resort with loads of shops. Overall, the Golden Beach hotel is a lovely hotel for a quiet holiday offering great food.
The hotel was very clean housekeeping worked hard. The food had a good choice of food for everyone we was sold it as an adults only hotel but two day before we left children had started to arrive. I don't mind having children around but when you book as an adult only it was a surprise to see children there.
Just got back from a weeks stay. Hotel is very clean and tidy. Lots of cleaner around the day cleaning the stairs and communal areas and pool is cleaned daily. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms didn’t have that much attention with cleaning . didn’t have the floors swept or mopped and beds were made daily but no fresh bedding or bottled water replaced after you drink the 2 complimentary ones. Coffee cups in the room are more for an espresso coffee and struggle to get your finger in the handle!! Rooms were well equipped with a good amount of plug sockets. And well decorated. Restaurant had a lot of the same food for lunch and dinner but was all fresh quality and was nice and replenished frequently. (Although they did run out off wine one night). Liked the fact that you have to deposit €1 for a plastic cup for the pool bar so no glass or cups are left at the poolside. Although this means that you don’t have any staff apart from the lifeguard at the poolside side, no one cleaning tables, replaces toilet roll or empty’s the bins. But was plenty of sun beds for everyone and no one hassles you for trips. Evening bar only had 1 member off staff on so be prepared to queue for a while ( a few others commented on this when the football was on as the bar was busy but no improvements were made for the rest off the week) Evening entertainment was not worth visiting but they did have a guy playing the saxophone which was 100% better than the evening entertainment. Lots of local shops, bars and restaurants and only 5 minute walk to the beach. Hotel is very relaxed which is what we were after.
Just got back from a week away with friends. 4 of us travelled and stayed the week. Pros.......nice location, plenty of sunbeds, hotel and rooms immaculate... Cons....food was extremely samey and at best Luke warm. Drinks were OK but the bars were extremely slow due to the fact in pool bar only 1 person working and then in the evening only 1 person working not their faults for the wait time for drinks but the F&B manager needs to look at schedules!!! Entertainment was different not really worth the wait. We ended up going out in the evenings as a few bars and restaurants nearby. Would we go again, probably not however I wouldn't advise against going as it just wasn't for us.
Fantastic stay. The hotel is in a great location to explore the island also few minutes walk to great beach. The food and drink are great really good quality. Breakfast is absolutely amazing in fact all food was really good quality and varied gambas, pescado, carne, ensalada. Staff are very friendly can’t do enough for you and all a very relaxed experience. The pool isn’t very big but never seemed to be full as fortunately many use the beach. Only thing I didn’t like was the long queues for drinks at night one night had to wait over 30 minutes which ruins it thus can be easily fixed by using the whole bar with another employee please consider this.
