- R2 Rio Calma Hotel

This modern hotel awaits its guests at just 350m from the nearest beach along the fabulous Costa Calma in the southern part of the Fuerteventura Island. Various shopping venues, restaurants and bars are located within 2 km, while the closest bus stop is just a 5-minute walk away. The venue itself provides everything needed for that long awaited vacation. Set amidst its beautiful gardens are 2 swimming pools that take care of that much needed respite in the warm summer months or a spot for a good morning swim, when the ocean waters are just a tad too chilly. For some extra pampering guests can give the spa and wellness centre a chance, while the in-house gym is perfect for those who want to maintain the workout routine. The onsite restaurants offer plenty of dining options that range from Canarian flavours, through traditional Spanish dishes to an international buffet.
Hotel is very well placed, rooms need to be modernized and some things should be repaired. Overall we enjoyed the stay and would recommend to friends.
Raul was a really great person and I enjoyed his excellent service he always bringed me whatever I want and I really recommend his service, the best waiter I’ve ever experienced
Raul gave us the best service we’ve ever recieved. He was very friendly, made sure we had everything we needed and made us feel taken care of at all times.
Raul is the best waiter in the whole hotel, he was the most reliable and made sure we were taken care of. The whole experience was a lot better thanks to him, super friendly and hard working.
Unfortunately, our stay at this hotel was very disappointing, and we will definitely not be coming back.
The problems started as soon as we arrived. The airport transfer bus we were given had loose floor panels that were not properly secured. At higher speeds, the panels lifted up, and you could actually see the road beneath the bus. It felt extremely unsafe.
Another major issue was the pool bar. The queues were incredibly long because there was clearly not enough staff. The average waiting time for a drink was around 20–30 minutes, which is unacceptable for an all-inclusive resort.
Charging guests for replacing pool towels in an all-inclusive hotel is simply ridiculous and should not happen.
The food selection was limited and repetitive, with no themed dinners during our stay, which was very disappointing.
The check-out policy was another huge downside. After 12:00 p.m., guests lose access to all-inclusive services and receive only a single voucher for lunch. This is a very poor policy, especially for guests with late airport transfers.
Overall, I cannot recommend this hotel, and I certainly will not return.
