OVERALL EXPERIENCE
We are currently staying at Alua Village, and after reading some of the negative reviews before arriving, I felt it was important to leave a fair and balanced review based on our own experience. We are a party of six (four adults and two children), and every one of us has said this has been one of our best holidays.
Many reviews mention rude staff, the hotel only catering to French guests, cold pools and dirty rooms. That has simply not been our experience.
STAFF
Every member of staff we have encountered has been friendly, welcoming and hardworking. This includes reception, housekeeping, bar staff, chefs, the lifeguard, the on-site shop, the kids' club team and the entertainment staff. Most staff are bilingual, work incredibly hard throughout the day and always greet guests with a smile.
LANGUAGES & FRENCH GUESTS
Regarding the comments about the hotel being "for the French" - we are English and never once felt overlooked. The hotel caters well for English, French and German guests. There is a dedicated 30-minute French activity each day, which is understandable given the number of French guests, but the majority of activities such as volleyball, aqua gym, fitness classes, darts and dancing don't really require translation. The evening shows are presented in multiple languages so everyone can join in and feel included.
DRINKS & COCKTAILS
As someone who is quite particular about cocktails, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality. The Tequila Sunrise has been my favourite, and if you'd like your drink a little stronger, the bar staff are more than happy to accommodate.
CUP TOKEN SYSTEM
The reusable token and cup system is brilliant. It encourages everyone to return their cups before getting another drink, which keeps the hotel clean and prevents cups being left around the pool. It's a really well-thought-out idea. The snack bar staff are especially friendly, and the upstairs bar serves drinks in proper glasses, which is a lovely touch in the evenings.
SWIMMING POOLS
The swimming pools have also been much better than reviews suggested. They are clean and, in our opinion, not cold at all. We've been here in temperatures between 20°C and 30°C, and the pools have been refreshing without being uncomfortable - and I'm someone who really doesn't enjoy cold water! There is also a heated indoor pool, which is a fantastic option if the weather is cooler or if you prefer somewhere quieter away from the sun. They do all close at 6pm but this hasnt been an issue as it provided time to wash and get ready for dinner and the following entertainment.
GYM
The gym is another pleasant surprise. It's well equipped with both indoor and outdoor areas, including running machines, weights, leg press, resistance machines, battle ropes and a punch bag. One machine is currently unavailable due to a missing seat, but otherwise there's plenty to use.
ENTERTAINMENT & ACTIVITIES
The entertainment has been excellent. There are several organised activities throughout the day, with a break for lunch, followed by more afternoon activities before evening entertainment upstairs. The dance shows have been fantastic.
The bingo and quiz are completed on your movile phones, meaning everything is automatically displayed in your own language - a genuinely clever idea. Our daughter absolutely loved the kids' disco every evening, as well as the face painting beforehand, and she even stayed for the adults' disco afterwards!
CHILDREN'S FACILITIES
The children's area is spacious and well designed, with little activity huts, swings, slides and a giant Connect 4. Children under four need to be accompanied by a parent, which I think is entirely appropriate.
ON-SITE SHOP & LAUNDRY
One thing worth noting is that there isn't a self-service laundrette on-site, so if you're travelling with young children it's worth packing accordingly. However, the on-site shop does sell laundry liquid if you need to hand wash clothes. The shop is actually very well stocked and was another pleasant surprise. It sells toiletries, nappies, milk and other drinks, snacks, sun cream, makeup, jewellery, dresses and children's toys, making it easy to pick up any essentials without leaving the hotel.
RECEPTION
Reception staff have been consistently helpful, whether booking taxis or answering questions. Nothing has been too much trouble.
ROOMS
Our room has been spotless, spacious (and completely free of the cockroaches mentioned in some reviews). We had a large balcony, a generous bathroom and, surprisingly, one of the most comfortable foam mattresses we've ever had in a hotel. The rooms are cleaned daily unless you request otherwise by using the door sign.
ACCESSIBILITY
There is a slope leading from reception to many of the rooms, but there is also a lift available, making access much easier for anyone with a pushchair or mobility difficulties.
FINAL THOUGHTS
Overall, this hotel feels extremely well managed. Everything runs smoothly, the atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, and it caters equally well for families and couples. The surroundings are beautiful, with stunning views all around the hotel, making it the perfect place to unwind.
Of course, no hotel is perfect, but I genuinely feel some of the negative reviews do not fairly represent what this hotel offers or the effort the staff put in every single day. Based on our experience, Alua Village has exceeded our expectations, and all four adults in our group have agreed this has been one of the best holidays we've had. We dont want this holiday to end and wouldn't hesitate to return.
We just had a wonderful stay at Alua Village Fuerteventura, and I can't recommend it enough. From the moment we arrived, the staff were incredibly attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. Our room was absolutely immaculate, providing a perfect, spotless base for our holiday. The highlight of the trip was definitely the food, which was of amazing quality. We also opted for the "My Favorite Club" upgrade, and it was 100% worth the price. Having access to our own exclusive, personal space was brilliant. The premium amenities really elevated the experience—especially the great snacks, drinks served in proper glass bottles, and the fantastic selection of premium spirits. The evening entertainment was on the basic side, but it was still genuinely great. A huge shoutout to the animation team, who were absolutely hilarious and kept the energy high throughout the day. We also really appreciated how inclusive they were, seamlessly engaging with English, Spanish, and French speakers so that everyone felt involved. Highly recommend this hotel for a brilliant, relaxing getaway!
Me and my partner stayed at Alua Village for a week from the 28th June. We have absolutely loved it. The rooms are kept lovely and clean, the cleaners replace towels and bed sheets every day (unless you have the do not disturb sign on your door). I read other reviews before our stay that said bathrooms could do with some maintenance, but upon arriving we didn’t feel it was anything to be bothered by. There was some peeling on the wall and around the shower/bathtub but for us the main thing was that it was clean, which it was. Everything worked properly too. I had also seen other reviews mentioning cockroaches and insects on ground floor rooms. We stayed in a ground floor room and didn’t have this problem, but I cannot speak for all rooms.
A problem we did have consistently throughout our stay was the lack of well-working WiFi. we had a lot of connection issues so had to use our phone data for the majority of our time here.
There are 2 outside pools and plenty of sun beds, we never struggled to find any to sit on. The drinks at the pool bar were nice, I stuck to cocktails which came from these large containers. I would say they were quite watered down but they were still nice. The only beer available was San Miguel. We did not join the My Favourite Club which gives you access to more branded drinks.
In terms of location, the hotel is close to the beach. There is not much around that you can walk to besides the beach, but we used the Get Your Guide app to find activities, some of which include pick ups and drop offs at your hotel. We chose to do jetskiing in Morro Jable and also went to Oasis Wildlife Park, both of which were fantastic.
There are a lot of feral cats that live on hotel grounds. Me and my partner love cats so we found this super cute, however for other people this may be something to bear in mind if you don’t like cats. They seemed to be more active during the evenings; we hardly ever saw them in the day.
The food in the canteen is nice, plenty of options to fit everyone. We really enjoyed seeing what came out on the themed night.
Entertainment I can’t comment on as neither me or my partner are particularly keen on entertainment.
Lastly, staff were all friendly and incredibly helpful. We really appreciated this.
Overall we loved our stay here and we would definitely visit again!
We had the best time at Alua Village, especially because of the entertainment staff. Eden, Edgar and Thomas were the highlight of our trip, always making us laugh and providing amazing entertainment in both the daytime and evening with water aerobics and kareoke. Highlight of this was Edens signature move (iykyk) The receptionist Leo was amazing too, very friendly and helpful when checking in and coming back late at night. 10 min taxi is needed to get to bars and restaurants and was about €10 each way so not bad when split between us all. We wanted a chilled girls holiday rather than lively so it was perfect for us. Rooms were very clean and modern and beds were comfy. Only let down was the food, quite repetitive and could use some covers for the flies as we saw some on the food which is left out for quite a while so this was a little offputting. Breakfast was the best, lunch and dinner were very basic and similar. However, staff working in the restaurant were friendly and maintaining cleanliness and presentation for the tables. Other than the food everything was great!
Unless you are under 25 & French this is not the Hotel for you. I don't write many reviews but felt I had to do this. Food is awful ( kidney stew, soggy chips) The red wine is one of the worst I've ever tasted. The entertainment team seem to think that walking around shouting in French is entertainment, I don't. The only good thing I can say is the toilets are very clean. Don't ignore this review as I'm writing how it is. I'm very relaxed about previous hotels I've stayed ( my wife and I have 4 to 5 foreign holidays a year) & have not stayed anywhere as bad as this. This is a budget Hotel at best. Be warned.
