Great family holiday

Review by I4126NHsarahm Sydney

I'm not one to normally leave reviews but after a long 3 year wait for a family holiday abroad we went to this hotel and had the perfect family holiday we all needed! Lovely, clean hotel, large family room with two interconnecting bedrooms, nice food and one of the most beautiful stretch of beaches I've seen.

My kids have in fact asked me to leave a 5 star review as they haven't stopped talking about this trip since we've been home and want to go every year. Special mention to the animation team, Javi, Barbie and Judith as the kids absolutely adored them and they gave us parents some much needed quiet time by the pool, whilst the children went off for Star Club. They were brilliant, as were all the staff.

Definitely recommend if you're looking for some Easter sunshine and relaxation.

Two perfect weeks

Family holiday, good food, good service, good entertainment for us and my son and wonderful place. Every night show and music. Nice cocktail bar for the night time. Perfect place to stay with or without children. Tennis, gym, spa, bowling and cicle to rent...

A very all inclusive hotel, eat and drink all the time you want. 100 mt. from the beach. We'll come back with very pleasure.

Some staff are rude and unhelpful

We are currently staying here. The hotel is nice, some staff are helpful, but I am so disappointed by the way that some of the catering staff have behaved towards us.

I picked Iberostar because past experience led me to feel it was a safe bet for expecting good service. However, I have let down a number of times since we arrived.

No written, or verbal, information has been provided since we arrived, but I had downloaded the Iberostar app in advance...

On arrival, I found that the app simply would not work. From reading reviews on Google Play, I discovered that if you log in to Horizons, the app doesn't work, but if you don't, it works at least a bit. However, much of the info in the app is inaccurate. It is hard to know what is included in the normal 'all inclusive' and what is just for Star Prestige. For example, there is nothing that tells you some areas of the restaurant are only for certain people, but if you sit in the wrong place, staff are quick to tell you (in Spanish - not many seem to speak English).

One of the key attractions of the hotel was the bowling alley, but it is not open every night, and when it has been, we were just told we couldn't use it because it was broken. Again, really disappointing. It would have helped if this had been communicated.

In terms of catering staff, a number have been abrupt and seem irritated. Plates are often removed while you are still chewing your food! I just tried to get a snack from the pool bar - the snack area was open and another guest had just loaded up their plate with cakes. As I was looking to make my choice, one of the catering team told me it was closed and made it clear she wanted me to move. I said I just wanted to get a snack and she told me it was closed and come back later. The thing is, it wasn't closed when I went in and the other guest right before me hadn't been stopped from getting their food! I found this not only rude, but also inappropriate to treat guests differently. In other Iberostar hotels, staff have been warm, welcoming and friendly, but that does not seem to be the case with some staff here. In fact, they have made me feel unwelcome and a nuisance at times.

I have been put off Iberostar as a result of my experiences here. I expected more and I no longer feel I can recommend the brand to friends.

Perfect Hotel

Review by Road202915 Liverpool, United Kingdom

We returned to Iberostar Playa Gaviotas after a two year break because of Covid-19. Wow, it was brilliant last time but there were lots of upgrades to the hotel. A completely refurbished bar and dining area around the pool ,a completely upgraded seating area near the hotel pool for smokers and overflow from the excellent Tapas bar. Overall the whole hotel was refreshed. The staff are unbelievable, friendly always saying hello and eager to help. The entertainment team were also spot on. The food was once again top notch with so much choice all day. The wines seemed better and there was bottles of Frexinet ice Rose’ available all day. Vegetarian and vegan options, the list goes on. The location is brilliant right on top of a hill directly above a desert island beach. You can walk to beautiful Morro Jable in about 40 minutes. This is the best hotel chain and hotel for what we want on holiday. We didn’t upgrade to Star Prestige because we knew that we would have the same food and fantastic experience. I definitely recommend this hotel. John & Angela Stayed 11 nights in March 22

The food was good but ??? Staff amazingly friendly and helpful
