A perfect week in the sun

Review by timetraveller_20110 Hastings, United Kingdom

This is a quality resort on the side of a hill overlooking Amadores Beach. Our one bedroom ground floor apartment overlooked the pool which was quiet. Apartment was a good size and well equipped but no oven. There is parking on the road outside the resort. There are plenty of restaurants nearby - up the hill at the Europa centre and by the beautiful Amadores Beach. Taxis are cheap and plentiful. Can't wait to go back...

Quiet and great for sunsets thats it.

Review by Mister_Crom London, United Kingdom

Stayed here Oct 21 for an autumn break, Apartments are located towards the top of quite a steep hill so not suitable for for old people, young kids or anyone with mobility issues.

APARTMENTS: Very mixed bag, high end Bosch appliances but then spot lights were missing from the downlighters ?! The apartment were however Pretty clean and very well equipped with TV, Air con, safe, dishwasher, fridge freezer, washing machine, hair dryer, iron all included as standard. They are a good size with some being bigger than others. Request a high floor to take advantage of the pool/sea views...

Balconies are large but dont seem to get much direct sunlight so good for chilling out but no good for sunbathing and can make it chilly in mornings and evenings. There was also a very large cockroach on our balcony which I know comes hand in hand with warmer climates but still never very nice to see. The beds were large but not very comfortable at all and we both struggled to get decent sleep on them, very firm mattress combined with very flat pillows.

There doesnt seem to be much sound proofing between floors as we heard the floor above us quite alot, furniture scraping on the floor, things beings dropped, loud convos etc. Our air con overflowed and was dripping through the ceiling and made a huge puddle in the living room continuously for a day or so until it was rectified, in addition to this the air con didnt seem to affect the room temp at all, control was set to 22 and cool and but constantly stayed around 25-26 degrees mark. Apartment was serviced once in the 5 nights we were there. Was allowed an early check-in (roughly midday) as we'd had a very early flight which we were very glad about but our return flight wasnt until nearly 10pm and was only allowed a late check out until 2pm (usual check out is 11am) and at the cost of 30 euros which seemed a lil steep for 3 extra hours.

FACILITIES: The pool is a reasonable size and cant fault it, there was plenty of sun-loungers, some days were busier than others but always got a lounger. There is no music around poolside so good if youre in your room, less disturbance but leaves the poolside area lacking in ambiance or atmosphere. There is also no real pool bar and no convenience store for essentials. There is a small restaurant attached on the 1st floor which serves acceptable food but its not somewhere youd jump out the pool and go grab a beer. There is also no entertainment at this place, they hold a bbq in the restaurant once a week and different themes a couple times a week (Tapas, Boozy dinner) but thats about it. The restaurant although already small is not equipped to handle any more than 3 or so tables at a time so keep this in mind if you sit down to eat you may be waiting a while for your food. WIFI was included in our stay for up to 4 devices. Pool table has seen much better days, when the white ball does eventually come out as ours got stuck (reception was no help in this regard) it has a massive chip out of and pretty sure the table is at a bit of an angle.

LOCATION: It is roughly a 20min walk down a steep winding road to the beach, never did do the return walk always got a taxi back which cost roughly 3-4 euros. You can order a Taxi from reception for a 50cent surcharge or you can walk top of the road near the RUI hotel where they have a small taxi rank to get down to the beach (or anywhere else) and theres a taxi rank at the beach to grab one on the return. Nearest place to buy any groceries of any kind is europa centre which is roughly 8 min walk uphill, this is also the nearest actual bars/entertainment venues so not a bad stumble home after a night out. Puerto rico is about 5 min Taxi ride away which again is about 4 euros.

This place is in a strange limbo kind of status as its not luxury enough to warrant being so quiet and isolated but also not entertaining enough to cover over it flaws. Overall the apartments are well equipped and pretty close to europa centre but there is no entertainment, no pool bar and too far from beach and shops so if youre looking for a cheap quiet getaway and not worried about venturing out too much this would be ideal, but although not an altogether bad experience, personally for me I would not stay here again

Autumn holiday

Lovely resort with stunning views overlooking the beautiful Amadores beach. Perfect location to watch the evening sunset & Mount Teide! Nice chilled out feel to the resort & it was never an issue getting a sun bed anytime during the day, Good in the resort was the only disappointment. Staff friendly & resort very clean with lovely modern comfortable rooms...

Would definitely recommend to anyone just be prepared for a 15 minute steep walk down to the beach.

Excellent accommodation and facilities

Review by John M Spain

My wife and I spent a week here in February and were very impressed with all the facilities and location. The apartment was large and well served with a hob, washing machine, microwave, dishwasher and all utensils needed. The pool area was large with plenty of sun loungers with mattresses and kept immaculately clean...

Breakfast was buffet style with sausages, bacon and scrambled eggs (some days fried and boiled eggs were also available). The only thing I was a little concerned with was the lack of hygiene at breakfast, there was no cloth covering the bread for people to use when picking it up to cut some (mainly Baguettes) and people tended to cut a piece holding it in their hand then put the extra piece back into the Basket. One woman even used the bread knife to cut some fruit and then put it back with the bread. My wife did speak to the member of staff about this. Children were also seen picking up bread or croissants then putting them back. This sort of item should have been at the back of the table where children couldn't reach them. This is the reason I have not given 5 stars. The property is on a steep hill and a fair walk down to the beach but a taxi up or down only cost 3 Euros. The nearest shopping is at the Europa Shopping Centre further up the hill so anyone with a walking difficulty would have a problem.
