stayed in a bungalow as 6p family. great food, ocasional barbecues, great animation, access to sister hotels, in particular Dunas Suites within a walking distance is a big plus - extra pools, extra facilities.
We stayed at Dunas for a week in August, 2 adults and 2 teenagers. We had 2 bungalows - they were very clean, great size for 2 people, a big bedroom with good storage and a safe (14E for the week). There’s a TV, sofa, microwave and fridge, space at the back to dry towels etc...
At the front of the bungalow is a nice patio area with seating. The grounds have lovely tropical plants and trees and feels private, everywhere is spotless. Our rooms were by the quieter pool and pool bar area - the main pool was a bit too loud for us but plenty of younger families were enjoying it. You can’t leave your towels and go off, they will be removed by staff with a polite note. You can hire hotel towels - 40E deposit then a euro each time you change them. We also kept our room on for a later flight on the last day - 30E. The food was pleasant and adequate, something for all, the chef in the main restaurant at lunchtime worked particularly hard. Staff were generally friendly and efficient - Julio at reception was particularly helpful. Our cleaning lady also did a brilliant job - especially in the teenagers bungalow as you can imagine. We had a bbq one evening at the pool bar which was nice. The evening entertainment was a bit lacking for older kids and adults. Drinks were not bad and the wine was good. There is a lovely Lebanese restaurant at the end of the road, maspalmas beach is just over a mile away - not far but a hot walk, taxi is only 3euro. The only slight criticism is the roof terrace - we didn’t get it? There was a bar bit up there but it was closed so are you supposed to take drinks up from downstairs bar?? There were singers up there sometimes but didn’t see advertised so never know whether to go up or not. And then it shut early….just feel it was a great spot and would make a nice adult bar for the evening time. I absolutely loved Gran Canaria and found this hotel to be brilliant as a 3*.
Very good option for families with kids. Excellent rooms, good services and wide offer of meals. And high safety protocols during the covid crisis. Perhaps the hotel should consider a larger pool for more crowded periods.
do not book premium suite as you don't get what you paid for, loud music constantly playing around pool area, food was plenty and good but at best warm. would not serve us sprits even when we were on all inclusive and not big drinkers. English not very well spoken or understood...
has no spa like in pictures on web at this hotel so spa treatments were behind a hairdresser in back room, don't bother. location great and food good if it was hot plenty of choose. garden areas very nice and well kept, not for couples this is a family place. WIFI really bad unless in reception. tv's in room have no English speaking channels except sky international news but do have plenty of German channels, we found if you spoke German the staff understood you better and they were served vodka on the all inclusive plan, we tried to sort issues with room, spa, and drinks at reception two or three times and was told they would sort it but no one did, tried email no reply , wanted to sort out issue in resort but no one seemed to care. such a shame as could of been a good hotel.
Can’t fault the hotel and lovely staff to their response to the National lockdown although obviously worried about their own family and friends have provided a superb calm discreet change to their normal working practices most reassuring and although scaled back clientele have continue to offer a good meal & bar service, excellent cleaning facilities and are all friendly and approachable -!would not hesitate in coming back once life returns to normal.
