Excellent value for money. Personal very mindful and helpful. Outstanding premises...
Some details: organisation of the buffet, charging a reserve on the room upon arrival, 2 classes of guests (normal and vip).
We’ve stayed at Costa Meloneras previously and hadn’t travelled abroad since September of 2019 so we were very much looking forward to our stay.
We had a slight mishap when we were checking in, as our prepaid hotel voucher was missing a code that Reception required; we were on the system but our voucher didn’t have the requisite number of it. There’s immense credit to Aylyn on Reception for remaining composed in the face of my frustration and annoyance...
She worked with the Hotel’s Reception manager to overcome the issue so we could check in smoothly. It detracted a little from our welcome but not a whole lot could have been done to avoid it.
On accessing our room, we were suitably impressed. The decor was stunning (we had a Junior Suite) and it all felt very modern. The bathroom had a walk in shower/wet room, stocked with the Corallium spa products and miniatures from Rituals. As Unique quests, we had orange wristbands that you use to unlock the room/order food and drinks with, etc — no fear of losing your room key. The bed was a king (maybe even Super King?) and so comfortable!
The Alameda restaurant serves a buffet for dinner and breakfast. What a beautiful space, with stunning interiors. The food was top drawer, as well as the service, with Luz (one of the wait staff) being a credit to the Alameda team.
Customer service at Costa Meloneras is at a really high standard but I must mention two team members: Cristobal and Osmany — they served us at Arenal and at the Plaza. Both gentlemen provided the perfect mix of professionalism and personality, with a natural warmth and welcoming demeanor. On our last day, Cristobal said he’d hope to see us back soon and honestly, their excellent service is a major determining factor for us deciding that we will return next year!
From a COVID-19 safety perspective, the hotel was immaculately clean, with hand sanitizer stations throughout and all staff wearing face coverings (and patrons likewise in indoor spaces). We felt very safe.
Highly recommended, and we cannot wait to return!
We have been coming to the GHCM for many years and we where somewhat nervous about previous reviews of the construction work going on did we notice it only if you looked ! There has been a lot of thought gone into the overall look of the hotel and I have to say a job well done. Rooms are smart beds and linen of a high standard. Yes there’s a bit of a issue at breakfast but personally it’s the headless chickens of the guests which cause the problems.
This is one of my favourite holidays which I look forward to year in year out and I will continue to do so ! Well done to lopesan !!!
The outdoor facilities are outstanding. There were a few finishing touches pending from the recent renovation, which one can assume will be addressed soon: missing signage in some areas, outdoor lighting, wiring, etc. Great pools and gardens nonetheless. Recent renovation of rooms seems good enough although some corner cutting is noticeable. Breakfast and dinner were, alas, a bit of a disappointment: Even though the dining hall has been transformed and greatly improved by the new decor, the process of helping oneself to the items on offer is so much worse that it makes the whole experience a little bit unpleasant at times. By reducing the space available to pick the food items (and the plates!), they have created a overcrowding problem and, as a result, also one of visibility...
At times the food collection area becomes one huge overlapping queue, from one side of the hall all the way to the opposite end. Do not be fooled by the claim that it is now a "gastro market". It is a smaller buffet in a straight line, with less space to pick items, but with a very fancy "film set" laid on top (an illusion). In summary, very nice appearance, but in urgent need of addressing the practical flaws that are evident even when the hotel is only half full. Also, I miss being able to have the live cooking where you can tell the cook how you want the meat or the fish. That seems to be gone for ever. I also miss getting a pot of coffee brought to you by the waiter, or a teapot. That is gone too (there are machines now, which means having to get up several times to refill tea or coffee). Still, we do like the hotel even if a slight repositioning towards mass market is apparent (not in price, though).
We have visited this hotel numerous times and have always been impressed with the facilities. When we arrived (12 Oct) the staff were very welcoming and we were greeted with a glass of Prosecco and were given a lovely room (3336). The newly renovated rooms were a definite improvement and all ares of the hotel were spotless and the staff were efficient and friendly, As we did not need to leave until 2pm we asked if we could keep our room until 1pm on the day of departure - again this was not a problem...
Yes - there is building work going on in and around the hotel but we could not hear any noise from our room. We have waited so long to go on holiday abroad that the building work did not seem important to us. We are looking to return again in May next year, when the hotel and resort will be even better, having undergone the full renovations. Thank you Lopesan for helping to make our holiday so wonderful.
