Stunning hotel in a beautiful location.
We were impressed with our room (superior with pool view), very spacious, clean, lots of storage space. The only gripe was our tea/coffee/milk were not replenished every day but the standard of the rest of the housekeeping was impeccable.
We opted for breakfast only and were very satisfied with the quality and range of food on offer. We did find that busyness varied from day to day and time but it didn’t stop us from finding a table or the food we wanted.
The grounds are spectacular and kept to a high standard so were a pleasure to explore. The pool areas were clean with lots of different areas for you to relax (if you were early/lucky enough to find a sun-bed), with areas available with less children and noise (solarium/the tree pool).
The local area also has a lot to offer with plenty of bars, cafes, restaurants and shops. There is a beautiful boulevard along the coast which is worth a walk/run along if you want a leg stretch.
The hotel bars are excellent value for money in comparison to hotel bar prices in the uk and the staff were always friendly and attentive. There was a good variety of entertainment throughout the day and into the evening and night.
We would definitely recommend a visit here if you want that bit of luxury but be prepared to play the game if you want a decent spot by the pool.

We visited here 3 times previously over a ten year period. So much had changed and not for the better the staff really weren’t engaging with us I think maybe they weren’t paid enough personally however, we did leave tips! Receptionists were rude and almost patronising to us on a constant basis we tried twice to swap out our heavy pillows and eventually we gave up. Our room was tired and dull almost bordering on soulless but luckily had a huge bed and was very clean. Food was tepid at best for the breakfast buffet. Queuing was the norm luckily we ate out most nights. Sunbeds were a scarcity and mainly shaded or in dappled light from the amount of trees. People who had rooms by the pool sat on the beds from 7am onwards. There was supposed to be a ‘no reservation’ policy for the beds but instead staff would march round throwing out a laminated threatening note on your bed if you left to go to the loo before 10am! I could go on …. they’ve implemented a new 2 tier system called ‘Unique’ the branding is orange for the towels which is great for all the visitors from the Netherlands. Plenty of Germans too seemed to frequent the place I think we were definitely in the minority. We both decided we won’t be going back too many compromises.
A return visit after two years and we came away with yet another fantastic holiday. Janice and Sebastian are fantastic animation team members who both remembered us. We visit for the yoga and fitness classes plus shuffleboard and general relaxing by the premium pool, and were not disappointed (apart from the cancellation of classes on Saturday). Already looking to return for a third time.
The hotel and the views are absolutely beautiful. The staff cleaning the grounds, rooms and dining room are friendly and nice. However, when we arrived the person checking us in was impolite. This is Not the sort of welcome you expect from a 5 star hotel.
We explained that we were travelling with our elderly parents and asked for our rooms to be close to each other as we had already requested in our 2 unanswered emails to the hotel. He just proceeded to draw on a map where our room was situated and where theirs was - 2 floors and another block away. He made no attempt at all to see if it was possible to place us near each other or even say if they were fully booked.
We have stayed at the Lopesan Baobab twice before our stay at this hotel. It is also a beautiful 5 star hotel. If you have young kids, both hotels have a good kids club. However, the activities for the older kids (8 plus) are better at Baobab where they have activities like darts or ping pong tournaments. Our room was near the ping-pong table, but the children were not allowed to use it as it was covered up at all times, unlike at Baobab when the ping-pong tables could be used all day.
With regards to the food, there is a lot to choose from. It is a meat eaters’ haven. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for vegetarians. On the second night there were 2 sets of tacos but both with meat. There seems to be sushi everyday but again no clear vegetarian options. There was pasta too but all 4 options had meat. After breakfast on the second morning, I requested a simple pasta dish so that my children could eat something other than chips. We were told that they would try, but they could not promise anything. I don’t think that a basic Pasta Pomodoro dish is too much to ask for. When we arrived for dinner that day, there were no vegetarian pasta options, but 3 different meat pasta options. To be fair to them, they did eventually try to remedy this by giving us four plates of plain pasta with no sauce. We still have another four nights to go, so let’s hope the dinner options improve before we leave! When we have stayed at Baobab, the vegetarian options have also been limited, but they have always had plain pasta with a choice of at least two sauces for people to choose from.
