The CORDIAL MOGAN VALLE APARTHOTEL is an establishment in which to enjoy unique sensations and awaken the sleepiest senses. Of particular note are the panoramic views of the mountain, of the garden and of the swimming pool. During the warmer months of the year, guests can use the outdoor swimming pools. We offer Breakfast Service and Dinner Service. The multilingual staff at reception will be happy to assist you.
Firstly the positives. The apartment complex is nicely located and within walking distance to supermarkets, restaurants and shops etc.
The complex has 3 good size pools but people reserving beds with towels and then not appearing for most of the day is a problem that needs resolving. The lifeguards put a note on beds but don’t remove towels even when someone not used bed for 3/4/5 hours.
Although the complex is large the snack bar is only available from 1pm -3:30pm. This sometimes forces you to go elsewhere even if your preference is to stay near the pool.
Also the apartments themselves are now very very dated and require some major refurbishment. But the worst part is the so called daily cleaning as during our 2 week stay the floor was definitely never cleaned. On numerous occasions they forgot to leave any towels and for a full week didn’t leave any toilet rolls even when we asked. I rang reception numerous times but nothing happened and tbh took matters into my own hands as near the lifts are caged areas that are not locked and sometimes have toilet rolls. So thought bugger it I will help myself as fed up of hunting down cleaners for bog rolls.
Anyway prior to coming we had booked again for 2 weeks in December as we love Puerto Mogan. But have cancelled and rebooked the Raddison Blu across from Cordial Apartments.
The apartments are fine but dated with a big balcony. Getting to the rooms if difficult especially when the lifts are often out of service. We stayed B&B and the breakfast was very poor to say the least. Watered down beans, some kind of break your teeth meat instead of bacon & the cold drinks are vile. The caffe con leche is the best thing at breakfast, the egg / omelette maker often goes walkabouts leaving people unable to get a fried egg or omelette. We tried the snack bar once they messed up our order 3 times and eventually we got a refund and left (I speak enough Spanish to understand what the staff said) The worst thing about the hotel is the guests regrettably we booked during the local school holidays, this place is over run by Ferrell children who’s parents are usually on their phones or drinking. The quiet pool is bombarded by loud people ignoring the signs and the lifeguard. In the canteen they shout and take plates of food they clearly can’t & won’t eat. Weekends are hell on earth here with the invasion of loud drunk people in the pool all night, throwing rubbish onto the corridors, leaving cigarettes, chewing gum & beer cans & bottles around the pool. Would we return yes but self catering and definitely not during the local school holidays.
First time visit here so here's a truthful review, not like some that return year after year.
On arrival all looked great. Nice welcome at reception. Free glass of prosecco. Gave us our apartment and instructions on how to get there, we had a 2 bedroom apartment.
They gave us room D725. First impressions were good. It was a nice big place, it looked clean and tidy, huge balcony. Well stocked kitchen for crockery and cutlery. Fridge, microwave, toaster etc. We arrived late so maybe it would have been nice to have a bottle of water left for us but they don't and nowhere was open to get one.
We unpacked straight away. One of the wardrobes had a damp smell. My husband didn't want to put his clothes in. So we just used the other one. Then I went and used the sink in the bathroom. I then went back in the bathroom and there was water all over the floor. The sink was leaking water all over the floor and had been running back towards the wall which is where this damp smell was from. After that the smell was unbearable. Rang reception and asked to move rooms. They moved us straight away. So repacked and left. This must have been happening for a long time for how bad it was...... Not a great start. The next day there was Someone else in that room. Plus down below is where the cat feeding station is. Didn't notice any smell from that but might be something to look out for and don't accept room D725.
So the new apartment was much better E726. Although I do think they're in need of a bit of tlc. But by no means are they at a point of disrepair.
Good kitchen facilities. Two huge bathrooms, plenty of towels and toilet rolls. Two big bedrooms. Plenty of wardrobe space, double wardrobes in each room. Not too many drawers though. Huge beds, and they were comfortable. The lounge had a sofa bed and chair in it. TV in each room. No air con but there's fans in each room. That was enough for us in June but not sure I'd like it in any hotter months. We still had the doors open slightly at night. The balcony is the biggest we've ever had. 4 sun loungers, table with 4 chairs, another chair with cushions on and an outdoor shower. The fake grass gets very hot so be careful with children with no shoes on. There were sun shades to pull over if you needed shade. The cleaning could have been better. Not sure the floor was ever washed. They missed us for about 3 days. But we spoke to reception. They said have you had your cleaning sign out..... We didn't have one. They sent someone straight away and a new sign.
There are so many lifts in the place. It is a bit complicated when you first arrive. You'll see people who are a bit lost. But you soon get used to how to get around.
The pools..... We used the quiet pool at first. No balls, no music, no kids. That's good for us now as we are of a mature age. But I wasn't very happy when the lifeguard told us we couldn't talk! My husband and our daughter(25) were chatting while she was putting on sun cream. The lifeguard came and said excuse me this is a silence pool! This was after he had sat for 20 minutes talking loudly with a Spanish guest just along from us. I'm all for a quiet pool but it's not a library, that's just taking things to the extreme. So we tried the pool where the pool bar is. That was fine, yes kids playing, and the animation team did a quiz and aqua aerobics etc. And you were aloud to talk. We also looked at the splash zone area. Loads of sunbeds and hardly anyone there so we spent our last few days around there. Never would have thought I'd be sunbathing near a splash zone!
They do put tickets on your bed if you leave. This would have been good to know from the beginning. We left to go to our room for some lunch. Came back 35mins later to one on each bed. I asked how long is ok to leave. He says you get 1½ hours. It's just for information. So I'm presuming they didn't take your things off. I didn't have a problem with them putting a ticket on, it's actually a good idea to stop people grabbing beds then leaving for the day. But they should tell you when you arrive and they should remove things after the 1½ hours or what's the point.
Didn't have any food so can't comment. The bar prices were quite expensive and the beer wasn't great, so were the ice creams. So stock up at the superdino and put them in the little freezer compartment.
The super market is right outside the hotel. Well stocked, decent prices, lovely fresh fruit, bread etc.
The walk down to the beach is really flat and it's about a 10 mins walk. There's restaurants and bars nearby the hotel if you don't want to go to the main bit of the resort.
Lots of lovely places to eat. More around the harbour area, these tended to be a bit more expensive.
The beach is lovely, the resort is beautiful, nice laid back feel but not dead.
Good & Bad honest review, stayed here as a family, ages 5-64years old. Overall a positive experience lots of amenities for the young ones, kids clubs and evening entertainment. Bars and food reasonably priced plus staff very friendly and helpful. Negative points, cleanliness not brilliant in room bare minimum , and please don’t go here if you have mobility issues, lots of stairs and lifts are like a maze. Hotel needs some tender loving care looks run down in places, it’s vast take comfy shoes . Around 10 minutes to beach which is extremely busy on weekends. Hotel has a splash park which the kids loved , very safe not too deep, room has good air con and safe which are included in the price. Overall an enjoyable holiday, would I go back to Cordial Mogan Valle probably not, but glad we went and a big shout out to the hard working staff!!
Room and balcony was very spacious but was in need of modernising, apart from the brilliant bathroom, the shower being spot on. There was no air conditioning, just ceiling fans, one in the lounge and one in the bedroom, which were quite noisy. Ironically our view from the balcony was of the air conditioning unit from the apartment below and their roof. The kitchen was well equipped and clean but unfortunately the door on the freezer compartment was not closing so we were unable to store any frozen items. The previous guests must have had a toddler with them because there was little hand marks on the mirrors and patio doors, which were never cleaned while we were there. Cleaning was very sporadic and not very thorough. We left towels that needed replacing on the shower floor only to find that the cleaner had just picked them up and placed them on the hanger in the bathroom. Bed linen covers were very stained. I informed reception on several occasions that one of the bedside lampshades was cracked and broken and was assured that maintenance would attend, but they didn’t. The hallway to the apartment was very dark and the floors were badly stained. I had emailed the apartments prior to our stay to let them know that we would be celebrating our golden wedding anniversary while we were there but it wasn’t acknowledged, not even a congratulations. The positive points are the pools are lovely and clean and there’s plenty of sunbeds and parasols, over the road is a supermarket with everything you need and there’s a lovely walk to the beach and marina. Puerto de Mogán is a beautiful area and if I’m lucky enough to be able to go there again, I would book somewhere else to stay.
