This amazingly hotel is situated on a central location on the famous Playa del Inglés, in the southern part of Gran Canaria. The airport is conveniently just about 2 km car ride away from the complex. The hotel offers rooms that come equipped with cosy beds and all the necessary amenities they need to have the best experience. For travellers comfort, the rooms are decorated to make them feel welcomed and comfortable. Diving into the pool, sunbathing, relaxing under the shadow of an umbrella or going to the beach are just a few things guests will have the pleasure to experience. Visitors can have a delicious meal or spend a lovely evening in the bar. If visitors prefer to explore the surroundings, there are restaurants where to go to taste different flavours or have a nice meal.

It is definitely not a 4 star hotel. The amenities were very shaby, the adult only solarium was very scruffy. Everywhere really needs a refurbishment...
It is supposed to be 24/7 all inclusive but all bars and the only restaurant was closed at 1100pm. This is really not large enough for the size of the hotel. There was self service areas but they only had tea, coffee, beer, wine, water and fruit juices. Food was very much the same every day and was not very hot. On our last day we checked out at 12 noon, we were leaving at 5.20 but told we could not have any meals in the restaurant unless we paid extra. This we thought was disgusting because we didn't arrive until the evening of our first day.
Spent four nights here as we extended our stay before moving to the Lopesan Corralium Dunamar as wanted adults only. For us this was a mistake.
This is the second time we had stayed at the Catarina and whilst not being a fan of the little people. Have always managed to find a quiet spot...
Whether that be on the 5th floor solarium or the main lobby bar of an evening. However there were far fewer children this time around. We last came here Oct 2019.
The food was of an OK standard. Breakfast probably the best meal of the day. Whilst there is a good variety of food at each sitting, sadly it could do with be being a bit warmer. Didn't eat from the snack bar area, so can't comment on that. Did have a few cakes from the 24 hour bar area and they were good.
For us, we like the self serve option. Saves having to wait around. You can get soft drinks, beer, wine, water and fruit juice.
All of the staff are very friendly. Check in was a very smooth process. Sadly not the same for check out which seemed to take some people for ever, but not us once we got served. Just a 30 minute queue..
The rooms are kept spotless as is the rest of the hotel and our maid was in every day. One meal time I forgot to put my glove on and was politely challenged by the staff - absolutely encourage this responsible approach
Wish we were still there and not at the adults only version.
Staff were friendly but they couldn’t understand English as this hotel is an international holiday. We needed to explain our order and questions in different ways and body language until they got it.food was the same every day.
We had the opportunity to extend our holiday by 4 days, and despite my previous review of the Catarina we decided to come back. We are glad we did. :) Hotel check in was smooth and efficient...
We were given a room at the end of the hotel (closest to the riu palace), it was clean, quiet and spacious. Perfect. The bathroom also had a decent sized shower tray to collect all the water unlike on our previous stay so that was a good improvement. The nudist terrace now has a replenished water fountain so this is very welcome and you can still walk downstairs to the lobby self serve bar if you want something else. The staff are all so friendly and the food selection was plentiful, although it isn't always hot. We didn't use the pool bar food facilities this time although it looked the same as the last time we visited - plenty of choice and clean - though does not appeal to us. The check out process was a farce. Stood in a queue for 30 mins to check out at 12pm. What took so long?! This was the only negative of our visit. Also, please add the charge for a safe to the room price, a 4 star hotel should provide a safe as standard. We will be back :)
I arrived at 11pm and was the only person checking in at that time so my check-in was very efficient and friendly. Noticed that Saturday afternoon was the main time for new arrivals and there were long queues, however they were organized by a member of staff and the whole process did look efficient.
Throughout my stay all the staff I met were very friendly and helpful. Sometimes their English wasn't fluent, but I do understand that and don't have a problem with it...
My room was at of the far ends so quite a long walk - this is a very long hotel, so bear that in mind if long walking distances are an issue. The room itself was very spacious with balcony, a sofa, a comfy chair, a fridge and a kettle with a selection of teas and coffee. There is also a safe, however that is charged extra. The bathroom has been recently been renovated and was great, including massive shower head and a large shower space. The water pressure and temperature were perfect. The double bed was basically two single beds pushed together, which I didn't find great. The air conditioning was quite underpowered, did not make the room very cool even when running constantly.
As far as the all-inclusive facilities are concerned, I was impressed with the self-service drink corners, which are available in the main restaurant, at the swimming pool at the end of the hotel and in the main lobby (this is the only one that is available 24/7). The have a coffee machine, post-mix machine with soft drinks, fruit juices and beer, wines and sangria on tap. The wines were not great quality, though. Meals are served at the main restaurant. The selection is quite good, this is not a five star hotel, though. Also, there was litttle variation between some days, then again more on others. One day had a bit of an Asian theme at dinner, another a bit of Mexican, I wouldn't consider them much of a success, though, and would probably recommend that these exotic themes are either substantially improved or abandoned altogether.
The pool facilities are good, although the pools are not very large. There is one pool on the western side of the hotel which is shade until lunchtime. There is another pool at the northern end, which is in the sun all day.
My only downright complaint was the hotel WiFi. It is supposed to work after you log in with your room number and surname, it never worked for me. Went to reception to complain a few times, always received what I assume was another visitors log in details. This definitely needs sorting, shouldn't be that difficult. When you actually get on it, it works very well.
Over all I would that this is a good hotel with friendly and helpful staff who look after you throughout your stay. There are some hiccups, but they always get resolved for you with a smile.
