Great Holiday

Myself, my wife and 2 teenage boys stayed here last two week of July. Excellent quiet complex. Great pool, lovely staff...

The bungalow was nice, we stayed in the Superior with 2 bedrooms. Great to chill out around the pool and plenty of shade from the trees if you need it. The Yumbo Centre was about 10 minutes walk away. Plenty of restaurants and entertainment there. There is a good supermarket around the corner for supplies. You are about a 15 minute walk to Playa del Ingles. Plenty of bars, shops restaurants etc. Fine long sandy beach, and not taken up by a load of umbrellas. Buy your own if you need shade. I f you get short of funds to eat out, go midday to the restaurants, much cheaper. Don't know if they all do it, just ask. We stuck to a few restaurants where the staff were really friendly and were good value.

Accommodation

Review by Beefingaround Plymouth, United Kingdom

Lovely bungalows, we went for the superior one. With the air con, safe etc. We stayed in 142 which was right next to the pool...

The accommodation was clean and had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. The staff was really friendly and the atmosphere on the complex was very peaceful and relaxing. Location was great, the super market was just around the corner and the beach 15mins walk away. I would definitely recommend this place if your looking for a relaxed hoilday. There was plenty of places to eat not to far away in the yumbo centre which was about 15mins walk away. Would stay there again.

Dissapointed with 2nd visit

Review by Mike-in-Oxfordshire Wantage, United Kingdom

Just returned from an 11 night stay, we came in October last year and loved the peace and tranquility. We knew it would be busier in June but purposely picked a time just after half term and the extended Bank Holiday.

The good : the pool is even more amazing, now fully open...

Must be 400’ long and most quite shallow, just one deep area.

No problem with sun beds - although a few (Brits included) did reserve for hours on end. Selfish idiots but enough to go around anyway.

Apartment very good value, nice sunken sitting room, excellent walk in shower, kitchen ok (although some instruction on the various appliances would hurt!), nice terrace and a small patch of lawn. GET THE AIR CONDITIONING - you will need it and the cost to those who hadn’t chosen it was astronomical!

Bedroom ok, once we moved the furniture around and pushed our beds together. Would much prefer double bed but it appears they are not available. Bit silly when 80%+ are couples.

Good storage.

Towels and sheets changed most days.

Free washing up liquid, free shower gel, good hairdryer.

The bad: beds very hard, no life left in the mattress.

No parasols - our terrace became unbearable after 2 pm.

The pool bar is expensive, when compared to surrounding bars. No happy hour (which would bring in a lot more profit, as very few using it) and they shut at 5pm. No evening entertainment at all.

Hoards of screaming / yelling kids, including British as their parent (s) pulled them out of school. Bang goes that idea…

The Yumbo Centre is quite close, no problem normally but we were informed at check in that the Easter Carnival had been moved to 10 days we were there. Thumping ‘house music’ at 3am gets tiresome. Check this before you go ( although we booked last December and there was no sign of a Carnival then).

Most people were polite, in the complex and out and about. Except for the Germans! They must really be annoyed by Brexit as they were consistently rude and aggressive. Example 1: shopping in local supermarket, we had a trolley. Unloading food / wine etc but before we had even finished unloading, Fritz behind started yelling at my wife to ‘move your trolley, you will cause a blockage!’ The sales lady told him to wait, she was still serving us. Example 2: sat on our terrace, we went for a swim but I forgot my key card and we shut the front door. Ooops. Locked out, no gap in our hedge. Noticed a gap 2 bungalows down, said ‘Hello, anyone there? Hello?’ but the bungalow was obviously empty, so walked across 10 feet of lawn to retrieve our key card. Only to have a German woman RUN across the complex, screaming something. ‘THAT IS OUR LAND, YOU HAVE NO PERMISSION TO INVADE OUR LAND!’ (the irony….). Explained I was just getting my card from our table but she was practically frothing at the mouth! Offered to pay her €3.00 for our 5 second occupation but she marched off. Later that night, I played the theme tune from The Great Escape on my outside speaker. 😁

The reception arranged a late check out for us, but only on the morning we were leaving, despite statements saying you can request this 24 hours in advance. €35, not too bad as we got almost another full day. When we left, there was no acknowledgement, no ‘Hope you enjoyed your stay’, no ‘hope to see you again’. Took the card keys and went back to his computer, not even a ‘cheerio’. Very strange.

Good value but lacking atmosphere, no early evening activities and no bar after 5 pm - which is when everyone was swimming due to the heat. Why not shut at 3pm and then open from 5 - 7 pm? But then I used to ruin my own businesses and understand customers.

Would we return? Maybe, but not in June. And would opt for a bungalow away from the pool, with screaming kids and enraged Germans.

Lovely Stay - needs a few tweaks

Review by rhinocheeks Greatham, United Kingdom

We booked our holiday through Jet 2 Holidays originally for 2 people. 3 weeks before the holiday we tagged on our 18 year old son at considerable cost (£800+ for one week) on the understanding that he would have a sofa bed. On arrival – we arrived very late on the Sunday evening we were disappointed to find that there was no bed /sofa bed in the small lounge area...

On ringing reception the host was very apologetic but as the resort was fully booked could not give us another bungalow. On first impression the bungalow was quite dark and dingy, and the furnishings in dire need of upgrading – lots of chips/damage on tables, chairs, units etc. To be honest at this point I wanted to leave as felt that we had been pushed to the back of the resort in the worst bungalow, no bed for our son only a few sheets left on the sofa. As were were tired we rested up to tackle in the morning. The next day first thing staff were sent to the bungalow and they did everything they could to make sure my son had a comfortable sleeping are with mattress toppers and pillows etc for the remainder of the stay. Despite the furnishings being under par the place was immaculately clean, the bedroom and bathroom area was very good. The kitchen was basic with microwave, fridge, hobs etc – which we didn’t use. The outside terrace was ok but we did not get sun at any point during the day.
The grounds and pool area were well kept and we enjoyed most days round the pool it was very quiet just how we like it. The Yumbo centre was around 5 minutes walk from the front of the property – we were at the back of the property and it would have been good to have a gate at the rear of the resort to get in and out as I have a few mobility problems it was ‘double distance’. Yumbo is full of bars and restaurants and shops geared very much to the gay community. Lots of drag type caberet etc. We found a lovely little place on our last couple of days ‘the English bakery’ which served up a fabulous breakfast and looking at the menu had some great items on there different to the usual. We also walked a bit further up past the Yumbo to the RedCow/Shenanigans which hosted entertainment every night in form of family quiz, karaoke etc – great fun! The staff were great - happy/polite and accommodating, and overall the complex was really nice. We would stay again but I would request a different bungalow with more sun and closer to the pool. The issues we had with the bed situation I will be taking up with Jet 2 as it was not explained on adding my son that a bed (fit for purpose) was not provided.
