Just back from our third stay at the Marieta and will be heading back for our fourth stay soon.
Staff are always helpful and friendly, the hotel is clean and well maintained and for us is in an ideal location for the beach etc.
The roof terrace is a great place to catch the late afternoon sun.
Room wise, we always book the non sea view rooms as the rooms on the roadside tend to catch the late afternoon sun, so if we don’t fancy sitting on the roof we can always be sure to get some sun on the balcony in the late afternoon.
We have never had issues with the food and always find there is more than enough choice...
The hospitality trays have been taken out of the rooms (due to covid this is to limit touch points that have to be cleaned), but, as has, been mentioned you can ask for a kettle at reception and hopefully as normality returns they will be added back.
We can’t comment on the all inclusive as we go half board, nor the entertainment as we go out in the evenings.
All in, a highly recommended adult only hotel.
On arrival after a delayed flight the receptionist was cold and regimented, he found our booking on his system gave us our armbands and then asked for the Jet2 hotel voucher, which I had never received. We were kept 25 mins until he got it sorted. We were excited to see the hotel and went to the rooftop bar for a drink (we were all-inclusive) but were asked to pay for our drinks which we did...
We went back to the same receptionist who had actually given us the wrong armbands, this was fixed. We were on the top floor faced the mountain/town, this was fine as we got the evening sunsets from the balcony. It is a lovely hotel, nice room/bathroom. It is very clean throughout. The rooftop solarium and the spa downstairs are a real selling point and we loved them. The restaurant food was pretty good but dinner especially was not outstanding. Apart from the reception staff (a few other dealings) the bar/restaurant/house-keeping are a real asset to the hotel, all very friendly and efficient. The usual for AI = Pool towels €10 hire, bar closes 11pm etc.. I have to say that the Customer Service Manager "Eva" exudes genuine friendliness and wafts through the restaurant meeting and greeting everyone, breakfast, lunch and dinner, she is a real asset to the Marieta, also Desiree is so charming and very hard working. I can really recommend this hotel and hopefully return, if the food was slightly better and the actual reception had been more welcoming I would have absolutely given it 5 stars.
Location is superb and the hotel is clean. This is not a 4 star hotel. No kettle or tea/coffee making facilities although you can get a kettle if you ask...
Rooms are clean but have limited storage space. Lovely roof top lounging area with plenty of sunbeds. Two small pools. There is a larger pool on the ground floor but it was ruined by the ridiculous entertainer who though prancing around in a womens wig and fake breasts and playing loud music was appropriate when the majority of the guests were over 60 and clearly wanted to relax and read. The biggest issue however was the restaurant. Definitely not welcoming to English guests. Limited food choices. Only one soup to choose from on an evening and the main courses were limited and often not labelled, Salad choices were ok but again limited selection. At breakfast it was utter chaos. Only one toaster for a hotel that was full is just ridiculous. No tea pots to make a drink so you needed a tea bag for every cup which is a waste of time. There were plenty of German, Swiss and Dutch guests who were all fine but sadly at the time we went the majority were Spanish and the noise at meal times was deafening. However my biggest gripe was that they simply do not understand the concept of queuing and lack manners and in all honesty this together with the poor meal choices ruined our holiday. We would certainly return to this resort but would choose a different hotel
I will start with the positive point: the rooftop view: beautiful panoramic view over Playa del Ingles and the Maspalomas dunes.
This is the only positive thing for this hotel…
Pool water is freezing cold, very unpleasant, even more considering the wind there is in the area… but i guess warming up the 9 m2 pools is too expensive?!
Food: disaster!!! Really nothing tastes great, everything is very poor quality to make savings I guess… great idea… but then do not sell your hotel as a 4 stars. Please be honest and sell it for what it’s worth: a 2 star camping food. No fresh bread, lots of sugar in everything, marmelade is just sugar without taste, croissants are a shame, pancakes are… not sure what is it but a thin and dry kind of paste… you constantly find food from the day before on the buffet. Eggs are the poorest quality, omelettes are mixed with milk or cream and tasteless, pasta is overcooked, etc etc The presentation is okay but really the taste is awful.
Beverages: what a shame! Never seen this before...
Juices or just powder in water, coffee is very bad, the wine is impossible to drink (very very poor and cheap wine 2€/bottle, what a shame for a Spanish hotel chain, as if Spain didnt have better wines??!!!!). All cocktails are disgusting ( sugar in water). After trying all the drinks, we just drank water because it was, sadly, the only drink that was drinkable.
All inclusive: what a joke, 2/3 of drinks are not included. You have to pay for changing towels, and for the food as mentioned, be prepared to eat out if you want to eat something correct. You have a mini bar in the room, but it is and remains empty… very all inclusive concept… So stay away from the all in formula, and even better, stay away from this hotel, really not worth the price you pay.
To the hotel management, please take this as a real feedback and wake up. Go eat in your buffet, taste the drinks. Stop taking your guests for pigeon tourists (making them pay for covid impacts?) and offer the service people are paying for!! (Or review your prices please and do not pretend you are 4 stars because you are not).
The wife & I have just returned from a lovely relaxing week at this hotel. Hotel location/facilities/pool area's/food/cleanliness/staff etc were all excellent. Hotel staff were all very friendly & helpful...
Huge stretches of sandy beaches & lots of shops & bars 2 min walk away. The world famous Yumbo Centre (google it) was a 15 min walk away. Plenty to do locally & a short local bus ride away from Maspalomas & Puerto Rico, both worth the trip. We stayed All Inclusive & both food & drink were excellent at the hotel with plenty of choices. Overall stay here was excellent all round & I would highly recommend this hotel for couples especially. Hotel is adults only so no children activities. Weather was glorious.
