Stayed here for 2 weeks the room we had was falling to bits. Handles coming off draws had a leak in bathroom and had to move rooms like 5am in the morning. Room full of damp . When we arrived the was leaks throughout the hotel. The breakfast was very poor and had to eat out every morning watered down orange juice. The food was atrocious to say at the least. Only thing good about this hotel was location being across the road from yumbo. Had a burger on last day at the restaurant and had to send it back as it was raw! Would never come back and would not recommend this hotel to anyone!!
Stayed for a week and the hotel is in a great location, a couple of minutes walk from the Yumbo centre and good public transport. Not far from the beach either (15 min walk approx)
When we arrived we noticed flooding in our room, when we returned to reception to notify them they explained that the fridge will have been defrosting and to use towels. They would send someone over later. When we returned to the room we noticed previous water damage around the room. Someone did eventually come and unplug the fridge. Our room was spacious but very basic (note that you do not have access to a kettle etc). There is only a safe and empty mini fridge). Our balcony was lovely and faced onto the pool (note you may see more than you bargain for on other balconies!!). Due to the location of the hotel it can be noisy at night with traffic and I did struggle to sleep because of this. The evening entertainment was underwhelming and the hotel was quiet at night. During the day the pool area was busy but you can always get a lounger (at least when we were there). It is full of lots of different people but there is a lot of smoking (even though it says no smoking) and people playing their own music which can be a bit overwhelming. The pool itself was very cold and there was often something needing fixed. Beware that you only get the one towel (plus one swap if you are luxury) for your whole stay which seems really silly unless you pay by the day).
We were half board and found the breakfast really bland/boring. They do a bit of everything but not very well. It seemed very unhygienic, with people coughing into the food or their hands and then touching the tongs. The coffee was the worst I’ve ever tasted and the juice tasted watered down. The food was quite dry from sitting under heat lamps for a while. This hotel felt like they were trying to take money from you at every opportunity. The dining room often stunk of smoking from people and staff smoking in the open garden. Overall the hotel is in huge need for modernisation and desperately needs better evening entertainment.
This is our first stay at this hotel and 100% will be our last.
Our room is 069, we has a leak coming from the room above into our bathroom. We reported this three to four occasions even showing reception a video of the water coming down including through the bathroom light. It was logged but nothing done. Early hrs, my partner noticed that the light was flickers and full of water. He went to reception who moved us straight away a temporary room due to the dangerous hazard. Rather than give us another room for the rest of the stay was told to use the temporary room for now but we will be moved back into our room.
Staff were friendly but the way the whole situation has been handled is shocking (exclude the pun). Not even an apology got not sorting out the problem before it actually become life threatening.
⚠️ WARNING – I no longer feel this hotel is a safe place to stay.
I have stayed at Servatur Don Miguel several times over the years and have recommended it to friends, which makes writing this review particularly disappointing.
During my most recent stay, at approximately 5–6am, another guest spent around 10–15 minutes aggressively trying to force entry into my room. This was not someone simply knocking on the wrong door. The individual repeatedly struck and kicked the door, damaging the electronic lock and scanner. I have attached photographs of the damage.
At the time, I was alone in my room and genuinely frightened. I had no idea who this person was, whether he was carrying a weapon, or what might happen if he managed to get inside. It was one of the most distressing experiences I have ever had in a hotel.
Eventually, after finding the reception number and calling for help, security arrived. I was later told the guest was drunk. However, what happened afterwards was, in my opinion, just as disappointing as the incident itself.
Nobody checked on my welfare the following day. Nobody asked if I felt safe remaining in the room. Nobody offered me a room change or alternative accommodation. When I spoke to reception, I was simply told, “Let’s hope it doesn’t happen again.”
I was expected to spend another night in the same room where someone had just tried to force their way in. As a result, I barely slept and spent the remainder of my holiday feeling anxious and uncomfortable.
What concerns me most is not that an intoxicated guest behaved badly. Unfortunately, incidents can happen in any hotel. What matters is how management responds afterwards and how they support the guest affected. In my case, I felt completely ignored.
After submitting a formal complaint, the hotel’s response focused on defending its procedures rather than acknowledging the impact the incident had on me. No meaningful apology, no gesture of goodwill, and no acceptance that the situation could have been handled better.
After years of staying here and recommending this hotel to others, I can no longer do so. Based on my experience, I would not stay here again.
If guest safety and welfare are important to you, I believe you should carefully consider this review before booking.
Another excellent day as usual can’t really afford it. Great location great price great hotel. Only criticism I had half board and the food was very bland. All you need to do is add a bit of spice. Management, please look at the menus . I must say the staff service is just brilliant.
