This excellent hotel boasts breathtaking views over the harbour, the bay and out to the open sea from its elevated position in Puerto Rico on the southwestern coast of the holiday island of Gran Canaria. It features 2 outdoor pools, a sports centre, kid's club, restaurant and various bars. The Europa Shopping Centre is situated right next to the hotel; the next beach is within walking distance.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
Was a little worried after seeing negative reviews prior to coming to the Riosol.
We had nothing to worry about. As a family of four we booked the Premium Two Bed Apartment. Was a lovely big apartment with huge private terrace. It was cleaned most days except Wednesdays and Sundays with fresh towels every couple of days.
Location was perfect for us, pool, reception & Spar shop nearby.
Pool was very clean. The views were amazing from every angle of the Riosol, staff were always lovely and polite, entertainment staff around the pool were lovely.
Europa Centre a five minute walk from hotel with plenty of bars/shops and entertainment - even crazy golf.
Puerto Rico beach is gorgeous, you do have to walk down a lot of steps so probably not ideal for someone with mobility issues but that would be standard for a lot of the hotels towards the top. We would walk down and get a taxi back up (cost around 7 euros).
We were self catering so cannot comment on food/drink but there is the restaurant and also an outside bar/food place around the pool area.
Overall we had the best time and really enjoyed our holiday at the Riosol
One of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in. The rush for sunbeds at 7.30/8 every single day is ridiculous and the signs saying that belongings will be moved after 30 minutes are pointless. You aren’t allowed to take your own inflatables but it’s perfectly okay for you to purchase pool noodles of rubber rings from the shop. The staff are miserable at the pool bar and the lifeguards too couldn’t hurt to crack a smile once in a while, the animation team have no personality. The rooms are in a shocking condition absolutely filthy covered in mould and when complaining they come and paint over it. There is obviously no air conditioning but 1 fan between 2 rooms isn’t enough I asked for another but it never materialised. I haven’t ever been so desperate to return home from a holiday in my life. The lifts are awful and constantly breaking down. Really struggling to find anything positive to say about this hotel avoid at all costs
Just back a couple of weeks from our latest holiday at the riosol it never disappoints from the minute you arrive till the day you go home.we received the room we requested and luggage that we store at the riosol had been put into the room for us we were all inclusive and cannot fault the food . The staff are all great I can't just pick out a few .we spent most days at the island of the Stars and we love it big Joe really looks after us and Omar when Joe is off the pool is lovely and it is so quiet. Our room was cleaned 5days out of 7 as is the usual Some of the acts at night were quiet good but we tended to sit inside at the bar as it could be windy and have a chat with Mustafa and Santana when they were not busy. I developed sciatica when I was there and had to attend the medical center in arguinagin for injections the staff at reception were great for organizing taxi's for us and explained my medication to me in more detail (thank you Solidad) We are coming back in November as it is our Golden wedding anniversary I wouldn't want to spend it anywhere else And just booked for January so here's to many more holidays at the riosol . Oscar is a great manager he has been there for years and has time for everyone always asking how your holiday is going and is there anything you need no matter how small and he is always available
Unfortunately, our stay at this hotel was very disappointing. There is no air conditioning in the rooms; a small portable air conditioner can be rented for an additional fee, but it is hardly an ideal solution.
The bathroom was in terrible condition. From the moment we arrived, the shower drain was blocked, causing water to flood the entire bathroom. It was very difficult to get anyone to help us with the problem. The room was only cleaned after the bathroom was finally repaired, and even then, we had to specifically ask for it.
We had to replace the towels ourselves by going to reception. The bed linen was not changed even once during our stay. Overall, the standard of housekeeping and maintenance was far below what we expected.
On the positive side, the food was decent, with a good variety of options, and there were plenty of free tables in the restaurant.
Overall, I definitely do not recommend this hotel. It was a very unpleasant experience, and I certainly will not be coming back.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fantastic Stay at Riosol – We’ll Definitely Be Back! We visited Riosol Apartments in Gran Canaria in July and had a fantastic holiday from start to finish. The rooms were clean, tidy and well looked after, and the food was excellent throughout our stay — always fresh, varied and plentiful, with plenty of choice. The service was great, but the biggest compliment has to go to the staff, who were unbelievable. Everyone we dealt with was friendly, helpful and hardworking and really helped make the holiday enjoyable. The views are absolutely stunning and one of the highlights of staying at Riosol. We also never had any problems getting a sunbed around the pool, and there are plenty of other sunny areas around the complex with loungers if you want somewhere a little quieter. Overall, we had a brilliant experience and couldn't really fault our stay. Great atmosphere, fantastic staff, lovely food, amazing views and a really enjoyable place to spend a holiday. We would definitely recommend Riosol Apartments and wouldn't hesitate to return. ☀️🌴🍹🇮🇨
Many Thanks to Oscar and all the staff for making us feel welcome again, see you in May 2027. 5 stars from us! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
