A sad demise!!!

Having stayed in this hotel on 4 previous occasions it was sad to witness the demise of a once quality hotel! Our room was passable but tired looking, in fact the entire establishment is long looking shabby! There is building work going on so drilling and banging was audible even above my headphones. Food standards have dropped dramatically since our previous visit with delights such as Roast Beef (dripping with blood) and Rabbit on the menu. The entertainment was unbelievably dire with the exception of a duo called guitar legends...

We requested but were denied an extension on our room due to a late flight but a couple who we became friends with were “prestige” guests were allowed! Thanks for the memories Costa Calero but NEVER again, never mind, Ibiza in 6 weeks, now we’re re talking !!!

Lovely holiday

Just back from a week here with our teenagers, and had a great holiday. Beautiful room kept immaculately clean. Plenty of food choices to keep us happy for a week, we found the staff friendly and helpful at all times...

The pools are great, 3 different choices plus a toddler pool. They aren't too warm, which was fine for us because the weather was really hot, so the change was refreshing! Staff obviously work really hard and looked after us well. If you want music playing around the pool and loads of activities happening all the time I can see it might not suit you, but we loved it. Thank you everyone!

Average but if you like all inclusive ....

Review by Hamish S Inverness, United Kingdom

If you like all inclusive you will probably be happy enough but the hotel is not 4* , even with the SPA facility and is very dated in some areas , particularly around the pool / restaurant area.

Evening entertainment venue and acts were of pretty good quality and our room was lovely with a great view.

Breakfast was ok but the usual slightly warm scrambled eggs , bacon etc . Whilst we booked half board we tried the food on the first night and didn't go back. Yes you could probably find something you liked but it was not the best choice or quality for me sadly.

A relaxing break

Review by Margaret G Chester, United Kingdom

We booked the holiday without really looking into the resort or the hotel. Anyway, it was much bigger than we thought we'd booked but that was find. There were three pools...

We sat by the main pool where inflatables weren't allowed but that was great as it kept children away. The children's pool was downstairs from the main pool with plenty of grassy space to play and have sunbeds. There was also a big pool which was set up with lanes for lane swimming/training. Lots of sunbeds, only one or two families who came at silly o'clock to put their towels out and appear at lunchtime - if at all!!!! Strict on mask wearing and everyone wore one unless sat down. Felt happy with that. The restaurant was set up into different areas so it didn't look as big as it was. Food was great, what you would expect in an all-inclusive hotel. Lots of choice of fish, meat and vegetables along with some imaginative soups. The lunch restaurant was by the pool, could get noisy but choose your time to go. We were on floor 1 in the ordinary part of the hotel. We had a problem the first night as the gentleman next door snored so loud it kept us awake! We phoned reception who phoned him. At 1am we gave up and my husband went to reception and we were given a key to another room to sleep in. We moved rooms the next day to a room with no adjoining door and no problems then. This wasn't the hotel's fault but they dealt with it. We used the safety deposit box - only problem we had was coding it as nobody said it needed 6-digits! We weren't in the posher rooms so we paid 10 euros each for a pool towel deposit - you could change your towel at the shop or reception if shop shut. The maid for our room was lovely, very friendly and kept our room spotless. We went to the piano bar each night. The staff work very hard here - you can queue for your own drink or they will come to your table for your order - how they remember them all I don't know! Drinks are a higher quality than we have had in our last all-inclusive hotels in Lanzarote. The menu is on Q Code in the table centre. We used the gym a couple of times and it was very good with everything working. My husband went to the morning stretch/Pilates classes and I went to aqua aerobics. Staff very good. We went to the show bar a few times to see Broadway Shows, Saturday Night Fever, Abba and Guitar Heroes. All very good - staff in the show bar all worked hard. The resort is very small but we had some lovely walks around the marina. You can walk along the headland to Puerto del Carmen which was peaceful - it takes about 35 minutes. There are a wide variety of restaurants, afternoon tea cafes and other shops on the quayside. You can walk/cycle around the mountain paths the other way if you choose. Think that's it! We enjoyed it and would recommend it.

Family holiday

Review by Passenger606860 Leeds, United Kingdom

Some of the reviews on here filled me with dread before we went - so thought it would be helpful to share our experiences which may contradict other reviews We are a family of 4 with two teens . We were in a Select suite with 2 connecting rooms. We were all inclusive...

The rooms were large , clean and great . Large balconies with a sea view ( top floor) The mini bar had some free soft drinks and beer/ wine. I believe u pay if u want it restocked . The maid restocked the water bottles as required . In contrast to reported reviews( maybe because we we were in a suite ) - Pool towels were in the room on arrival and the safe was a key code type thing . I did actually pay for the use of the safe - ( though I found out afterwards that the payment was basically to insure your Possessions against theft so could have used it for free ) we had a coffee machine with tea bags and coffee pods - These were free but not replenished ( we just took more tea bags from breakfast) The tv always initially said “no signal” but if u switched over the channel it seemed to work fine- we had bbc1/2/ itv / c4 c5 and bbc news / cbbc which was nice to have . My teens said the wifi was ok- though erratic! Again maybe a suite benefit but we got two free passes to the spa ( one for each room ) which was great and well equipped. .kids ( I think 4-14 year olds ) can only use the spa at certain times each day. Seemed to be quite a lot of activities each day - shooting / archery were for over 14 years old only . We enjoyed volleyball as an organised activity and played it by ourselves with a ball we bought at the supermarket. Boule and giant chess was always available and well used . They had giant inflatables in the pool about 3 times I agree with some of the comments about lack of atmosphere- the place is massive and everyone spread out so loses a bit of focus - but this was fine for us.

Food was fine . Repetitive but something different each day. Inclusive drinks were typically low quality but passable . You could still get tea or coffee in the bars in an evening .

Entertainment was enjoyable and of mixed fair! The mini disco was clearly popular and started at 9.15 each night - I think some of the previous comments were a bit harsh . Spain is only just easing covid restrictions ( u still need to wear a mask to go on the dance floor if older then 6) and so nightclubs etc only just reopened which I’m sure would have restricted the hotels entertainment program too. There is also a large area outside the show bar that I’m sure kids could run around in. The piano bar was nice in the late afternoon- though we could never get a seat in there later as it was always full. Staff were all pleasant and service efficient. We saw none of the “prestige snobbery “ that other people had reported.
And yes the pools were cold !
