Not what we had in mind.

Review by Daniela F Haarlem, The Netherlands

We spent a week in the hotel during the winter season and here by some highlights:

  1. Entertainment: it was fantastic. A lot of different and quality shows in the evenings...

The best of the hotel from my perspective

  1. The rooms are okay in size, very nice views over the beach and pool. Being located in the 2nd floor we were able to hear from our room all the music located in the lobby. Not so nice if you want to rest.

  2. Good location and free parking.

  3. The check-in could had been better. Nothing was explained to us. The receptionist just said: check the QR code and there you have all the info. Not very helpful to be honest.

  4. Food: our worst nightmare during our stay. Very poor food, the quality was terrible, no variation. Breakfast and dinner with very limited options. I wouldn't recommend including any type of food in your package.

In conclusion, I believe there are better options in the area for the same price. I wouldn't repeat.

Lovely hotel

Review by Brenda055 Selby, United Kingdom

This was our first visit to Lanzarote so also first time at this hotel. On arrival we had to have our temperature taken and every time we entered the hotel. The hotel is very impressive when you enter it...

Check in was quick and easy. The room we were in on the 3rd floor was sizeable with tv with English channels, fridge and a kettle with tea, coffee etc. We took our own coffee from home but we’re unable to use it to start with as there were no spoons just wooden stirrers. Bathroom a decent size with a good sized walk in shower. Towels were changed every day and the room was cleaned to a good standard. We stayed half board and depending on what basis you were staying you got a specific coloured wrist band. This unfortunately didn’t seem to go down well in the bar. If you were all inclusive you could go to the bar and get your drinks immediately. If like us you were half board then it was extra work for the waiters as our drinks had to be signed for and recorded to be paid in reception at some stage. We could never seem to get waiter service, so that was a wait, we would go to the bar and order the drinks and then be told to sit down, so another wait for the drinks to be brought to us. In the end we got so fed up of it that we stopped going in the bar and went out. We were at the hotel for 3 weeks and like others have said, the food wasn’t up to 4 star standard and being served at the show cooking we were under the impression that the chefs were under orders to give out as little as possible. I mean who wants just 1 rasher of overcooked bacon. All in all we did enjoy our stay and would stay again but just on a bed and breakfast basis. The hotel is surrounded by very good bars and restaurants and a short walk to the square

Great Hotel & good staff

Review by Shimmy192 Doncaster, United Kingdom

Spent 2 fantastic weeks in this hotel- our second visit, both times over the Christmas and New Year period. Our first trip abroad for 2 years and this was well worth waiting for!

Reception was very quick and efficient - all politely handled.

Room, first floor- modernised and the baths removed from our last visit- replaced with a very powerful and warm walk in shower. All necessary equipment in the bathroom which was quite spacious. Beds although as per most continental accommodation, twin beds were extremely comfortable- I spent most of the holiday on top of the bed due to it being so warm in the room! Good sized TV having UK television channels - what more can you want- plus it was a good size to! View- has to be amongst the best in Lanzarote- fantastic view of Playa Del Jabillo- amazing waking to this view everyday for 14 days. Balcony- a nice sun trap and pleasant to spend early morning or dusk there.

Credit to the cleaning staff, not only chambermaids but throughout the hotel- it was immaculate - no mean fit. Really good effort.

Bar- the novel revolving floor takes around 40 minutes for a full revolution...

Choice of 2 beers on draught, Dorada or Stella, reasonable choice of inclusive cocktails, spirits - only criticism was that not all the drinks were part of AI. I didn't understand that, given the cost of the hotel. I cannot see why this was the case? Staff were very attenuative and offered a swift efficient service, always courteous.

Restaurant- my wife is the fussiest eater in Yorkshire- meat & 2 veg type- there was plenty of choice and variation throughout the 2 weeks for her and definitely for me-(I will eat anything). The only thing she struggled with was the NYE set meal, only eating the soup- lots of bread and some of the meat- the rest was seafood- scallops & a lobster course! Otherwise all food was fresh, replenished regularly, very tasty, loved all the seafood and everyday there was a choice of a roast/grilled meat or fresh cooked fish. Breakfast, cereals, differently cooked eggs bacon etc, cold meats, salad, various potatoes -sauté etc, baked beans, many different milks, fruit juices, teas, coffees, etc Waiting staff- a credit to the hotel, very efficient and fast when changing the tables, serving drinks and generally being very helpful. Always courteous, professional and hard working!

Sunloungers and pools, thankfully & despite sun bed reserving wars there were plenty for all! (Even with an influx of Spanish holiday makers for NYE )! Pools were kept spotless with constant cleaning,

Animation team laid on plenty of varied activities and along with tennis court, putting and crazy golf and a gym- much to keep active with.

The gate to the costal path was very helpful allowing quick access to either this path or Jabillo beach.

The firework display on NYE was exceptional and very much appreciated by all those watching.

We will be back -loved everything about this hotel and especially its location- well recommended!

Good and bad

Review by Lorraine D Royston, United Kingdom

It feels churlish to give a less than glowing review of any hospitality business at the moment as they are all undoubtedly working very hard to recover from the last 2 years Covid devastation. This hotel has pros and cons and this is intended as constructive criticism. First the good bits...

The location and situation of the hotel can't be faulted, straight in front of unspoilt beach but minutes from shops bars restaurants that make up the small friendly resort of Costa Teguise. Most rooms will have a sea view, as previously reported the higher the better but if you don't want the faff of lifts and stairs, 2nd floor is fine. The Covid measures are pretty good overall with temperature checks when you enter the main door, mask wearing is enforced and staff work hard wiping surfaces although did not see sunbeds being sanitised as was suggested.
The pool is great, saltwater and perfectly heated, we really enjoyed it. Sunloungers a bit uncomfortable. The lovely atrium and bar area. Despite the size of it, we found that it had a lively atmosphere in the evenings and although hotel entertainment is not our thing, many of the singers were good even if musical choices a bit tame. Of course they have an impossible task trying to please everyone. We were surprised bar was not table service but can on assume this was a staffing issue. Having said that, bar service was fine and hardly any queues. We generally found the staff helpful and pleasant, especially restaurant staff and cleaners. Reception OK. Check in was quick, safe instructions and beach towels quickly organised. Negatives, the main one being the food. We generally prefer just bed and breakfast and to eat out in local restaurants so when we booked all inclusive, it was always our intention to eat out for about half of the meals. We ate in for the first 4 days but were very bored with the food by then. This is making a lot of allowances for Covid but the food was way below the standard of any other 4 star hotel we have experienced. The first evening there was paella and lovely king prawns but I am afraid it never reached that level again. Lunch was the best bet when there was an outside barbeque with a choice of different fish or meat and the salad was very fresh. The issue was getting any flavour into the food. Most seemed to be cooked with hardly any seasoning. Again I know its hard to cater for everyones taste but I have never heard so many other guests moaning about the food and how bland it was. In other similar hotels there has always been a large selection of flavoured oils, chilli, garlic and seasoning so that you can add a bit of heat or spice to the food, but here there was nothing but salt and pepper. The far end of the restaurant was very hot in the evening with no ventilation, not ideal in the current situation. Not enough was made of the outside space for dining. Several other guests said they visited a few years ago and the food was great so hopefully things will improve on this front. Other minor niggles. The shower in our newly refurbished bathroom would not drain properly and leaked all over the floor every time we used it. We reported this on the 2nd day, someone just came and reduced the power of the shower but did not unblock it so we had to use our towels to mop up the excess. The small white plastic chairs on the balcony are the most uncomfortable I have ever sat on.We would have liked to spend more time on the balcony but lack of comfort made it hard to relax. I asked if chairs could be changed, helpful noises were made at reception but nothing happened. Please change the chairs, they are awful. Drinking water, the hotel has admirable green credentials, reducing single use plastics throughout. We found a bottle of water in our room on arrival and asked at reception how we got more water. We were told to fill bottles at water fountains (2 for the hotel) .I was shocked at this ,finding the idea of it rather unappealing in case anyone had been drinking directly out of them. We found in the bar we could ask for bottles of water and take them up to our room which is what we did but this was not made clear by reception staff. There is no displayed bar list so if you are all inclusive, unless you want to mess about with an app on your phone (no thanks) you did not know what drinks were included. Have the app for those who want it but please display a couple of lists in the bar. There was also no folder of information in the room, just a TV channel with a video on a loop which was not particularly informative. We had an 8 night stay and on our last day our cards were de-activated and we could not get into our room having to traipse back to reception to get them re-set. Presume this was a mistake on their part but absolutely no apology!
I think if we could go back on a bed and breakfast basis and assuming a better level of service resumes when things get back to normal, we may consider returning. None of the issues mentioned spoiled our holiday. We were so grateful to get away after 2 years waiting but the hotel did not quite live up to our expectations.
