Not adults only and certainly not 4 star

Review by WOODWARDS1 Cossington, United Kingdom

We stayed here as we thought it was adults only. It is not. There is a section which is adults but the check in and main areas are not...

We booked the a la carte thinking it was AO and again not. The one really positive is the staff in the bars and restaurants they work so hard they were amazing. Shame it is not replicated with the reception staff We asked to change rooms and waited over 4 hours to get in to the room albeit we could see it had been cleaned but the reception staff couldn’t be bothered to chase housekeeping for the ok One evening we went back to the room to find the room had not been cleaned and no new towels. It took them over two hours to do it Entertainment in the evening was varied - not great and far too loud for a small bar area Would I recommend NO TOO many issues and too many children Great staff is the main asset. One girl running a busy bar is not acceptable she worked her socks off

Fabulous holiday

Review by bentenisin Glasgow

Just back from a week at premium suites and felt compelled to write this review since my husband and I had such a fabulous holiday.

*Great location- 10/15 mins walk to playa flamingo beach ( good for little ones) and around 20 mins to playa dorada beach which is larger with water sport options *Wednesday market trip was great and glad we went early then stopped off at the beach afterwards then Casa Pedra fish restaurant which was amazing ( also very amusing cause he basically tells you what’s good and what you should eat and he was right!!) *Accomodation was superbly clean and very private, only tip would be to bring a bar of soap or buy a shower gel when you get there ~the toiletries provided were mini versions and shamefully too much plastic but appreciate they’re perhaps trying to come away from this

  • Food was excellent and we all like different things so don’t be put off by any comments on here, personally the white wine tasted better than the rose but again personal preference
  • Bar and entertainment was great in the adult bar area and we enjoyed watching the Argentina tango evening in the main theatre
  • we used both the adult and main pool areas cause sometimes your pool neighbours are not quite to your liking -adult or child! *animation team provided adult and kids activities which I thought were excellent
  • my one main complaint was the check in at 10pm then couldn’t eat until 11pm … most would have been travelling for 10 hours and this was awful especially if you have kids with you so pack some extra snacks for them. I did raise this with the jet2 rep too and she said it had come up before and they were trying to approach the hotel director to come up with a better solution- a sandwich/ crisps / salad would be fine just not at 11pm
  • To end in a positive I would return here in a heartbeat and have no reservations in recommending this to family and friends.

Lots to like, couple of minor areas for improvement

Review by KateJRR Heaton, United Kingdom

Visited in December for my 50th. We chose the all inclusive prestige suite package so we’re entitled to eat multiple times in the a la carte, got nepresso refills, mini bar stocked with beer & soft drinks & had the safe included. Overall we enjoyed our time at the Elba Premium Suites, to the extent we have booked a return trip at the end of April...

Lots to recommend with a few minor areas for improvement. Positives

  1. The location- the hotel is in a great spot for the main front at Playa Blancq. Just turn right at the front & it is a 10/15 minute stroll down a pathway to the sea front
  2. The rooms - we couldn’t fault the rooms. Nice & modern, good size junior suite, good wardrobes, mini bar & nepresso machine. Excellent large bathroom with walk-in shower & a good sized patio area with some comfy seating & sun loungers. The suites are in blocks of 4 and have pathways running along side, however we found the room very quiet, and despite the foliage around the patio being cut back when we were there private as genuinely not many people walked past. The room was kept spotlessly clean throughout by the hotel’s cleaning team. I would also add the cleaning team were a very friendly polite bunch who always said hello when passing. A definite credit to the hotel.
  3. The general environment of the hotel. Again kept spotless by the staff. Pleasant surroundings lots of greenery & very attractive pools. It was nice that it’s is primarily on one level with reception & the premium suite bar/restaurant on the first floor. There was a handy shop for buying snacks and postcards.
  4. Jameos Pool Bar - the pool bar in the adults only area was excellent- really nice choices for lunch including Spanish croquets, gazpacho, pizza, salad. The staff were lovely and it was a very relaxing spot for lunch. 5 Adults pool - a nice quiet spot plenty of beds including Balinese beds which were perfect for someone with arthritis like me
  5. La Nonna restaurant - we ate here 3 times and the food was excellent.
  6. Bars- we found the staff in both bars to be friendly & helpful. The wine, beer & Cava served was nice in the AI package- the choice of cocktails was a bit limited in all inclusive but I happily drank several pina coladas

Other points

  1. Pool temperature- I won’t lie the water was very cold. It didn’t stop me taking a dip but I definitely didn’t swim as much as normal. I am putting this down to it being December and am hoping it’s a little warmer in April/May
  2. Buffet restaurants these were a little bit of a mixed bag. We had breakfast and a couple of evening meals at the El Mirador adults buffet restaurant. Breakfast wasn’t bad I could always find something I fancied. My only constructive feedback would be that the order food was laid out was odd (things you’d expect to be by each other weren’t). For dinner we found the choice a bit more limiting- the food wasn’t bad just not particularly to my taste & not as much variety as I’d hoped. This wasn’t a massive issue for us as we like to eat out & we also ate at the La Nonna during our stay. I guess it was just a bit uninspired. We found that the selection at the Yaiza buffet in the main hotel which we ate at for lunch a couple of times was better.
  3. Entertainment- the main hotel bar entertainment in the theatre was primarily focused understandably around children but the bar area is large enough to sit away from this. In the El Mirador bar there were singers each night. Some were better than others, it was probably aimed at a slightly older crowd with people covering Sinatra hits etc. We found it a bit loud & a bit samey. This being said it was December so it was just a touch too cold to sit outside- I think if we are able to sit outside next time where it is slightly quieter we would prefer it. This is not to say all the entertainment was bad it can be enjoyable it was just a lot for 10 days. We tended to break it up by going out some nights or switching between the bars.

Area for improvement The reception team was the one area where we didn’t have the best experience as there were a couple of team members who were not as helpful as others. This can probably be best summed up by our arrival experience. On arrival the staff seemed positively uninterested. First we were told the room would be available at 2 then it changed to 3, which I understand is the correct time. We were booked on the prestige package which entitles you to eat several times in the a la carte restaurants. We were told in arrival we could only have one meal during our stay. When I queried it I was told firmly I was wrong it was only after speaking to the rep the next day it was corrected & I was told that yes we can eat as many times as we wished to booked. On arriving at the room I realised we hadn’t been given our safe number code so had to ring reception again who queried it until once again I pointed out it was free as part of the prestige package. It also took 3 calls & several hours to get the pillows I’d requested. Normally when you arrive at a 4 star hotel the reception team are focused on creating a great first impression this sadly was not the case here & left us feeling a bit flat & stressed after a long journey. There were some nice & helpful reception team members but we did have a further poor experience with one of the team which left us a bit wary. There was a bus strike on whilst we were there & potentially I suppose they could have been down on staff due to COVID so perhaps the team were under more pressure than normal I will be interested to see what our experience is like at the end of this month.

Second visit as enjoyable as first

Review by abbo8 Attleborough, United Kingdom

My second visit to this lovely hotel. Both times stayed in one of the Premium suites. Very comfortable and peaceful. Similar to the first visit very friendly staff and everywhere very clean. I just needed a relaxing break and do very little...

As before I found my favourite spot was the adult only poolside bar area. Also preferred to take lunch there as well. By staying in the Premium suites you have choices of eating in your own restaurant or the family one for breakfast and evening meals. I used the family restaurant more, as it is larger it did appear there was a larger choice of food. Either way there is a good variety of food. My last visit was December before the pandemic. So one amazing change in that time was just outside the hotel a conversion of what was an area of wasteland to a beautiful walkway to town and beach. Would I recommend this hotel? Definitely Would I come back again? Definitely.

Lovely hotel but just a few suggestions

Review by SunnyLucy Northern Ireland

Myself,my daughter and our friend stayed at the hotel 2-9 April 2022. Overall we had a lovely holiday. We stayed in the separate premium suites in the village which are adult only...

Wonderful suites. Beautifully maintained and cleaned each and every day to perfection by the wonderful pleasant helpful chamber maids. The grounds of the hotel are also beautiful clean and well maintained. We had our own adult pool and “Jameos” pool bar. The only complaints are that one of our bar staff was the grumpiest most miserable person I think I’ve ever seen working at a holiday pool bar. He was most unpleasant some days. Everything was a bother 😂😂 he looked after food orders. We dreaded lunchtime and ordering for fear of annoying him with our unreasonable requests for perhaps vinegar. 😂😂 Also they play the same sound track on loop all day every day. After a while it’s like a form of torture not just for us but I’m sure the staff too. The food was actually quite nice though so we endured Mr Grumpy.

On arrival the gentleman who checked us in was most grumpy and really behaved as if we were simply nuisances daring to show up at 9 pm to check in.

There was no food available and a buffet was provided at 11pm. I say buffet. The leftover evening salad and cold meats and bread bar. The food generally in the hotel was disappointing. A step up from the usual Spanish all inclusive hotels but disappointing given we each paid £813 with Jet 2 to stay for a week. Also the drinks menu was restricted in all inclusive. No premium spirits available. No good cocktails. A Mojito was €7.50 and it wasn’t made very professionally so we stuck to the all inclusive only. We ate out many evening and lunchtimes in Playa Blanca which had many lovely restaurants all very reasonably priced. Drinks also very reasonable. We definitely regretted selecting all inclusive for this hotel. The wine with dinner was dreadful and effectively undrinkable. The Rose was the safest bet. Most nights we struggled to put a nice meal together. The a la carte Italian was horrendous. It was worse than the buffet and I advise you to give it a swerve. So to summarise. Food was awful. Also as you leave the buffet adult only restaurant there is a ramp that is hard to notice. Everyone stumbles down it. They need to mark it out on the ground !!

There is a larger buffet on the ground floor which is not adults only. Give it a miss. Chaos reigns 😂😂

The entertainment was also dire but we ventured out most nights. I can highly recommend Barneys Bar. Great craic.

However We did enjoy Johnny singing on the Saturday evening in the hotel And he sings on a Wednesday in the Oasis Marina right beside the lovely Market. We had a lovely morning at the market and a beautiful lunch and cocktails in the bar listening to Johnny. Great time.

All in all we did enjoy our holiday. The food was a massive let down. No cocktails was also disappointing and the bar closing at midnight was a bit of a shocker too. Our little bungalow suite was great and our adult pool was great. So definitely many positives in the hotel.

We also enjoyed the spa. It was excellent!! We were unable to keep our room for late check out. The manager kindly arranged for us to use the Spa facilities to get changed for home on our last afternoon.

I would absolutely return to stay in the hotel which had so many positives but would not select all inclusive. We were also very glad we were in the adults only part. The main pool was very noisy and if you have no kids and want to relax it was not the place to be.
