This is a hotel geared to families. Certainly not recommended if adults only travelling. Regardless of that, this is not a 5 star hotel, maybe 3+ at best. Let’s start with the worst bit - the restaurant (singular as only one restaurant was operating during our stay) the main buffet restaurant...
This in itself was a shock as two weeks previously I had contacted both the hotel and their head office and was told the Italian restaurant was open but I could not book until checked in. On arrival at the hotel, we were told only the buffet was open. All other restaurants were closed (due to COVID). As to the buffet restaurant, this was more a works canteen than a restaurant. Uninspiring and repetitive food, noisy with children running around, and certainly not a relaxing environment. We ate there for 2 evenings and then opted to eat out at restaurants for the remainder of our 7 night stay. There was a snack bar for food at lunch times (in addition to the buffet). The less said about the snack bar the better. Pre packed bland food, tables left uncleared and food dropped onto the floor by guests. The spa was open but did not seem to be doing any massages when I tried to book. The hotel rooms are large and with good size bathrooms. Housekeeping was excellent. However, due to the marble floors there was a lot of noise from corridors and other rooms. Particularly with children running around unsupervised. Evening entertainment on the two nights we visited was very good (Christmas day and the following day). The hotel is quite a bit away from the centre of Playa Blanca with the nearest tourist beach (I.e. with sun beds and snack bar facilities) a 40 minute walk or bus/taxi ride away. We loved the Playa Blanca area and the marina where there were excellent restaurants. We would return to this region.
