Review by 220Christine Belfast, United Kingdom

Just back from a lovely stay at H10 Rubicon Palace had a fabulous time, Room was brilliant very spacious and had a lovely private outside area for sun bathing. Cleaners doing a great job room was spotless. I was most impressed with the safety measures they have put in place due to the pandemic...

Lots of cleaning and hand sanitising stations felt very safe. Looking forward to our next visit.

Super amazing staff and hotel

Review by alexhZ3956QX

Even though the FCO advice on travelling to the Canaries was totally stupid our family decided to travel to this wonderful island and what turned out to be the best hotel we have ever stayed at. The whole experience with the Rubicon Palace is superb from start to finish, with the caring and thoughtful staff through to the gorgeous food and restaurant selection.

We were massively impressed with Stephanie, a customer relations staff member who was so caring and attentive after I had incurred a slight injury on the first day of our arrival

The complex is set on the edge of the sea and the views are stunning but the real draw of this hotel is the faultless approach to their customer care...

We are already looking to book this again this year, as it is clear that the U.K government will change their stance with the ridiculously low infection rates on Lanzarote, leaving us able to return without the quarantine.

10 out of 10 on every level.

Not good enough by far

Review by lunasdaduk Warwickshire, United Kingdom

Reception: Very pleasant reception area, staff were helpful and no issues whatsoever at checking in, providing a transport in a golf buggy which was a nice touch

Pool area: Plenty of beds/umbrellas available most of the day, however , some people do seem to reserve them all day and never seem to appear. The pool has a large number of missing and broken tiles , and in need of some TLC generally, before someone gets hurt.

Room : We had a “black and white” room, which was very spacious, large balcony, huge bed, albeit very firm, but generally a very pleasant room with plenty of products provided by the hotel

Entertainment : Forget it, you are your own entertainment which was fine by us, but its really quite poor for a big hotel...

A guy playing the piano was about it

Restaurants:

Being all inclusive we had access to the 3 a la carte restaurants, Sakura (japanese), Steakhouse (american themed apparently), and Dolce Vita (italian)

We travelled during the coronavirus summer of 2020, so completely accept that things were going to be a challenge. What wasn’t acceptable was the lack of staff, social distancing was impossible and you have to download an app to book a table at any restaurant. The food was substandard to the 5 star rating and only just scraped a 3 star. Januibo is the largest restaurant and better equipped, but like everywhere, grossly understaffed . Tabaiba was a joke. Three staff behind the counter who often would disappear, leaving nobody whatsoever to serve any food or drinks.

The 3 a la carte restaurants are far from it , and merely a way of displacing you from the main two which can be a bit chaotic.

Sakura - was ok , but nothing authentic about it at all, just a variation of the main restaurant with noodles or rice. I have a prawn allergy so opted for Salmon, and advised them of the allergy in the app…. Either the salmon or rice i had was cooked with prawns or around them. So why ask about any allergies , and was left unfinished due to the allergy issue.

Steakhouse - a complete shambles. Ordered caesar salad as a starter, and had no dressing , was then presented with a sachet of olive oil and salt and pepper sachets. Nachos were served with a dollop of prepared “cheese” sauce a sprinkling of tomatoes and no bacon bits, when asked they came back with about 3 or 4 pieces of bacon The mains were supposed to come with wedges but appeared with a handful of american french fries. The chicken burger was simple a butterfly chicken breast in a bun with a piece of lettuce and a slice of tomato. The menu says “authentic”, id call it lazy. The app says its provides american specialities - it doesn’t, its just what you get at lunch time on a plate!

Dolce Vita - Very nice decor. Ordered mozzarella salad which was a bowl of lettuce leaves and a few sun-dried tomatoes … minus the mozzarella. This was sent back and reappeared with three minute balls of mozzarella. The entrecôte steak that was ordered as medium rare came out dry, like leather and was sent back. The second one was better, but already others had finished their meals. We ordered 3 pizzas which were freshly cooked, but the toppings were clearly from a huge tub of pre-packed/tinned soggy mushrooms, onion etc. NOT the a la carte experience whatsoever.

Pool bar - 2 staff , 3 at best serving the whole pool area. Queuing for 10+ minutes was standard. The food provided was sat all day, dried to the cardboard plates, buffalo chicken wings which were actually just 3 small drumsticks with no flavouring whatsoever. Chicken nuggets were “chicken goujons” which appeared also for breakfast too.

We spent a week at the Rubicon Palace, which we have no doubt is a very pleasant hotel complex, money has been spent on the decor and there are some nice features … however, the staffing levels were way too low, the food simply not good enough at times for even a 3* hotel, ordering drinks was hard work as you can’t go to the bar or take anything yourself in the restaurant and the whole experience was spoilt by H10s lack of attention. No one would take responsibility, manager’s were nowhere to be seen, and in our opinion have taken bookings way beyond their capability

Will we be back…..no

Well needed week away

Review by michellehX4691RG Upminster, United Kingdom

We travelled here in the midst of the Covid pandemic the morning after Boris announced that we would have to quarantine for two weeks upon our return so were understandably stressed. The hotel is enormous and the grounds are beautiful and well maintained despite a recent lockdown. We were first put in two rooms which felt a little bit last minute and there were issues with the colour of the bath water and an ant problem...

We were assured this was due to the hotel being locked down for so long and so we were accommodating in terms of letting hotel maintenance people try to fix the issue. After 2 days however the hotel agreed to move us and wow what a difference. Moved to two privilege rooms free of charge overlooking the sea and no longer with a water issue. Jet2 helped a lot in this matter too but very pleased with the service all round. Self service restaurants are a little bit awkward at the moment as staff are required to dish up the food resulting in queues at each station but completely understandable under the circumstances. A La Carte restaurants all operating normally. Masks need to be worn between areas inside the hotel but can be removed when eating or drinking. Piano bar is beautiful but service was painfully slow the first two days, this was vastly improved by Abdi the following days who was super quick and a lovely guy. Pools are beautiful but as with most sea water pools are very cold so brace yourself. Food was on the whole good, with much variety despite the current circumstances. Some labelling would be nice though so you know what you are asking for. On the whole a well needed break after the stress of recent events and we could almost imagine we were living in normal times despite Boris changing regulations almost by the day whilst we were there. Would definitely return under normal circumstances. A shout out to the Jet2 reps based at the hotel too as they were fab under a lot of pressure.
