100% Honest Review !!

Let’s start from the beginning. The reception staff are generally nice, friendly and welcoming.

Pool & Sun Loungers-

The pool area is okay, but I have to say that the pools are not as big as they look in the photos. The photos are clearly taken from a distance or zoomed out and can make the pool area look much larger than it actually is. There is an adults’ pool and a kids’ pool. The biggest issue for me was the sun loungers. You really need to wake up early to get a good lounger, especially on Wednesdays and Saturdays when the market is on. Some guests put towels on the loungers early in the morning, leave the hotel for hours to go to the market, and then come back later to use the pool. Meanwhile, the lounger is occupied by nothing but a towel.

I honestly think this needs to stop. If a guest is not physically there, they should not be allowed to reserve a lounger for hours. The hotel should have a rule that if someone leaves their lounger unattended for more than 15 minutes, staff can remove the towel and make the lounger available to other guests. Some people put their towels down early, go back to sleep, have breakfast and then eventually come to the pool. That is simply unfair to everyone else who’s physically there.

Restaurant & All-Inclusive-

If you are considering the all-inclusive option, I personally don’t think it is particularly good value. There are plenty of good restaurants in Playa Blanca and around the marina, so I would seriously consider going out for some meals instead. Theres a bus nearby or taxi for less than a fiver.

The food at the hotel is quite repetitive. The three meals are very similar from day to day. Even the paella seems to alternate between rice paella and noodle paella every other day. After a few days, it gets quite boring. It would be a nice improvement if the hotel offered fresh fruit juice in the mornings rather than packaging juices.

That said, I have to give a 10/10 to the restaurant staff. Esp David. Shout out to Mr.David who is lovely, friendly, helpful and always willing to assist. The staff themselves were excellent.

Room-

We are a family of three. The bedroom had two single beds, while the living room had a third bed that was supposed to be a single-sized bed. Unfortunately, it was more like a small cot bed. The sofa was actually wider and looked more comfortable to sleep on. The bed was also very hard and, for me personally, extremely uncomfortable. After five nights, my back was hurting, which really affected my overall experience.

Pool Bar & Drinks-

There is also a €1 charge for the plastic cup if you want drinks from the pool bar, although the €1 is refundable. Pool towels require a €10 deposit, which is also refundable, so these charges aren’t really a major issue. The bigger problem is the quality of the drinks. The drinks at the pool bar tasted very weak and watered down. I’m not an alcoholic, but I know what a normal vodka tastes like. They display branded bottles such as Smirnoff, but the drink barely any vodka flavour. I ordered for a vodka coke drink and I saw the bar guy poured half of my glass with vodka but I couldn’t taste the vodka at all.

The cocktails weren’t much better. The so-called cocktail of the day didn’t really taste like the cocktail it was supposed to be. Honestly, I’ve had better ready-made cocktails from 7-Eleven.

Entertainment-

There wasn’t any daytime entertainment during our stay, which was disappointing if you’re expecting activities around the hotel during the day. Live Band at night for 2 hrs.

I’m sorry if this review sounds harsh, but I’m simply being honest about my experience. I’ll give this hotel a 3 stars just because of the Restaurant Staff esp David. Without David, this will be 1 star for me.

A great holiday

A wonderful 2 week holiday at Bluesea Alyssa Suite. Slightly concerned at some of the previous reviews but we soon realised that we didn’t need to be. A lovely welcome late at night with all inclusive drinks, rolls, meats and cheeses. Friendly front of house reception team member called Jhon!!

There is a different range of food that my family were very happy with. Breakfast, lunch and dinner all had multiple options to choose from. The freshly made cheese and ham omelette for breakfast was brilliant! It can get a bit repetitive but that is what to be expected with an all inclusive, we ended up venturing out for a lunch or evening meal on several occasions just to mix it up a bit.

No sun bed wars at all. People do put their towels out but there are plenty to go round, including some wooden beds with padded cushions. There is a 1€ deposit charge for a plastic cup but with a fresh one given with every drink it is no hardship. The pool bar has a great option of fast food made to order, mega burgers, hot dogs and chips etc.

It is about 15 minutes walking distance to a few supermarkets, bars and restaurants or if you go further, the port with more restaurants and shops is 25 mins along the front next to the sea. The marina is a fair walk but there is a bus stop right near the entrance to the complex. There is a volcano right next to the complex, definitely worth going up for an uphill walk, the views are worth it!!

All in all, a great holiday, can’t wait to go back!!

Great resort, not the best for vegans

We are currently staying here and having a good stay. Our little bungalow is a great size with two separate bedrooms. The pools are great and we appreciate the fact that there isn’t music booming out daily. The resort is in a great spot, easy to pop up the volcano or walk down to the beach.

There is a good selection of food for most diets. However as vegans we have struggled to find variety of hot food. Almost every dish has meat or fish or cheese. There are a good selection of vegetables but not much to put them with. One of the chefs suggested we ask at reception and they would accommodate us, however the lady at reception really wasn’t interested and didn’t even take our room number. If they could fix that it would be perfect!

Depends what you’re after

Spent one week all inclusive. If you are looking for a luxury “4 star” experience then this wouldn’t be the place for you, but like us, if you are looking for a budget friendly all inclusive then it’s ok and does the job. Staff - we found all the staff pleasant enough. The receptionist has had bad previous reviews but we thought she was ok, just seemed the type of person that if you ask a stupid question you’ll get a stupid answer, which we liked. The guy who does the kids club seemed very nice but our daughter is 17 so can’t comment on the kids clubs. A special mention to the life guard who helped my daughter after snapping half her finger nail off catching a ball in the pool. Pool - Pool area was clean and tidy with plenty of sunbeds. The pool was cold but was lovely to get into after laying in the sun. A lot of volleyballs and beach balls flying around the pool, which could get annoying, but we ended up doing the same in the end so I’m being a bit of a hypocrite. Food and drink - As with a lot of this review, I’ll use the word “ok” again. Not a huge selection but there was something different most days to try and if you didn’t fancy anything then there was always freshly baked pizzas and chips. Each day there would also be some kind meat cooked fresh in front of you by the chef. In between meals you can also order from the pool bar, they offer a very limited menu but sufficient, burger, chips, toasties and a few other things. During the day you have to purchase a plastic cup for your drinks (1 euro) which is refunded when you take it back. Basic selection of spirits, San Miguel larger and each day there are two cocktails of the day which you are entitled to as part of your all inclusive. Rooms - right, again, it depends on what your expectations are. It was “ok”. First impressions as you walk in are “this is nice” but when you look closer you notice things like poor/scruffy caulking around the shower and sink etc. Paint on the curtains where they’d obviously painted without taking them down. Visible quick fix screws drilled into the sliding door. Some days there was an odour from the shower and sink areas, but couldn’t be smelt throughout the rest of the room. The room was prone to having ants come in, especially if anything sugary was left out and strangely they were very attracted to the bathroom sink area. Beds are extremely hard and cheap. The rooms were cleaned every day though and the air conditioning worked faultlessly.

Would not return

I recently stayed at Blue Sea Costa Alyssa in Lanzarote and unfortunately would not return or recommend it.

Although the hotel is advertised as all-inclusive, the food selection was very limited and seemed to be the same every night, which became repetitive very quickly. I was also surprised that many cocktails were not included and required an extra charge, which feels unreasonable for an all-inclusive resort.

There were several additional charges that made little sense. Guests are required to pay a €10 deposit for towels and €1 for a reusable cup. The biggest issue is that these payments can only be made in cash, not by card. If you don’t have cash on you, you’re forced to withdraw money just to cover these small charges, which is inconvenient and unnecessary.

The room itself had problems too. The air conditioning was leaking badly, and we returned one day to find the floor soaking wet because of it.

The most serious issue was that my sister’s camera was stolen from our room. When we reported it to reception, we were told that it couldn’t have been the cleaners because “we’re all close with them.” That response was extremely disappointing and unprofessional. Regardless of staff relationships, a guest reporting a theft should be taken seriously. Around 10 minutes later, someone came to our room to search for the camera, as though we hadn’t already checked thoroughly before reporting it missing.

The only positive part of our stay was one member of staff who kindly helped us arrange a taxi at 4am after we missed our transfer. We were very grateful for their help.

Overall, the hotel was disappointing, with poor food variety, unexpected extra charges, maintenance issues, and an unsatisfactory response to a reported theft. I would not stay here again and would not recommend it to others.
