We have stayed here many times, we now feel the improvements, they have been promising are long over due. This time round, we found the pool area, was a disgrace, dirty underfoot and grimy all round, worst we have ever seen it. The rooms badly need updating, yes the cleaning staff do the best job they can do. But when the floor and wall tiles are badly cracked everywhere, would be impossible to keep clean. All the staff are brilliant and do the best with what they have got, they are all hardworking, friendly and pleasant. The restaurant has a good selection of foods and salad choices, we enjoyed every meal, there was always something we liked. The evening entertainment, was mainly different solo singers and a disco with a DJ, some being better than others. But always able to have a good dance with everyone. The hotel is not far from the sea front and there is, around a 20 minute walk to the local supermarkets and cafes with lovely views of the sea and beach along the way. We love Lanzarote and visited for around the last 20 years, but for this hotel in particular, we are now calling it a day. You do pay for what you get and have always known it to be cheap and cheerful, than other hotels in the area, but the level of cleanliness is now a concern. We may go back in the future if there are significant changes, but for now we are trying somewhere new.
If you're looking for a peaceful holiday, this is the place for you. We booked this hotel as it was adults only and ground level bungalows as my Mum has to use a mobility scooter to get around. Our arrival late at night was a little disappointing as the reception is like something out of the seventies and the welcome not particularly friendly. We were told to 'turn left' to our accommodation This was a bit difficult to navigate as it was almost midnight and the lighting not great. However, we arrived at the bungalows after a bit of searching. Our first issue was the lock on my Mum's room, which was very stiff to open. We then were greeted by a cockroach in her bedroom. Not a great start. However, it was mainly positive from then. ROOMS: Yes, they are a bit tired, but the beds are comfy and they are super spacious. Full size fridge, decent aircon and tea/coffee facilities that were topped up daily. The cleaners do a great job and it was always super fresh and clean. There is a small enclosed courtyard at the back for drying clothes. Sufficient storage and a TV that gets British channels (if you want to watch). Unfortunately, the lock stopped working completely on day two and we could not lock the door for a day before it was fixed. Fortunately, the environment feels so safe we were not particularly concerned. However, the patio doors do need sorting out and decent locks fitting. FOOD: Very good choice considering it's a relatively small restaurant. Lots of choice and the food is actually hot (which can be rare on buffets). We loved sitting outside to eat. Big shout out to the wonderful staff in the restaurant who were so friendly and helpful. ENTERTAINMENT: None we were made aware of during the day, which suited us. There was a singer every night and a nice atmosphere in the small bar lounge. LOCATION: Fabulous, close to the shore which can be reached from the complex and a lovely walk along the beach path down to the marina. Flamingo beach is about 15 mins walk and there are a few shops and restaurants there. POOL: The pools are large and we didn't have any issues getting the sunbeds and umbrellas every day. However, the pools themselves are in desperate need of a repaint and really good clean. They are not particularly appealing to look at and the jacuzzi is dangerous getting in and out. Some of the steps into the pool are seriously loose and the paintwork all cracked and peeling. Please sort this out as it lets the hotel down.
OVERALL: We had a wonderfully relaxing week. The staff are lovely and we did enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. The customers do tend to be an older generation with many people returning year after year. We enjoyed chatting to people and everyone was so friendly. The bungalows were ideal for us, particularly my mum. We would definitely stay again, but please sort the pools out!
Nice quiet location Only one set of amenities by pool/bar/restaurant. Two adequate pools on offer one of which has walk in access and a whirlpool tub but if you have difficulty with steps its not for you as big step to get in. Food was adequate for needs but not exceptional have had better .Service/staff was friendly. Rooms in need of major maintenance as paint flaking off everwhere an update especially dated handheld shower an tiling. Cleanliness was sufficient but found bugs, lizard and more disturbing Cockroaches in room ,reported to reception an basically got palmed off with all part of the island. Luggage security is non existent on check out you just leave at reception an hope its still there on pick up. If night time entertainment is your thing you may well be disappointed as repetitive on several nights ( person pushing button on laptop to play music there idea if disco). One location id gladly not revisit in a hurry
Here now, all good in the restaurant fantastic staff who are friendly, helpful and chat to all. Bungalow tidy, cleaned well and air con fantastic. Pool good temperature and although a few early towels we have had our choice each day about 8am and most days a few empty later in the day. Think a few more beds bought and a well cleaned pool each Wednesday with 930am open. All in all well impressed. A few restaurants and supermarkets 10 minutes walk turning left from the complex.
Summary : Advantages : Location, quiet, comfortable beds, food. Drawbacks : Bungalows need renovation, insects issue, activities
Our welcome was rather cold compared to my numerous trips to Spain. It would have been great to receive a presentation of the facilities and how the hotel operates. In fact I would have discovered the good fitness center earlier for example…
Once we reached our bungalow at night, we discovered it was infested with ants (see pictures). It seems bungalows insulation could be improved, or at least the accommodation be treated more often against insects. We went back to the reception that provided us a repulsive and offered to change bungalow, which I accepted.
The second bungalow was better in terms in insects, but could barely close. We can see from those two examples that renovation should be done!
Despite those two issues, bungalows were really quiet. Air conditioning working properly. Wi-Fi signal was a little weak there, but good at the level of the swimming pool and restaurant. Personnel at restaurant were really nice and helpful, food was fresh and good. Coffee was also really good.
We wanted to attend some activities. First attempt, no one showed and once back to the reception, they told me it has been canceled. The second time, same issue and once back to reception, the animator was on his phone at his desk, and simply forgot. The third attempt was canceled in the morning, but at least it was indicated. Since there’re only few activities, it’s a pity not to demonstrate further motivation because I’m convinced people could enjoy it.
Hotel’s location is wonderful, really close to the beach and many possibilities to hike. In such a place, and with those quiet and comfortable bungalows, it’s really worth renewing to become an outstanding hotel in Lanzarote.
