Situated in the tourist centre of the town of Playa de los Pocillos and around 7 kilometres from Puerto del Carmen, this pleasant beach hotel offers tranquil accommodation close to a lively public area rich in restaurants, bars and shopping venues. The lush well-tended gardens are the perfect spot for the first coffee of the day, and a dip in the large outdoor swimming pool will be a great rehearsal for the long day at the beach. Sports enthusiasts may enjoy a round of bocce, table tennis or billiards and the complex also offers archery lessons, which are sure to add a touch of uniqueness to any vacation. In the evening, guests can prepare a meal in the fully-equipped kitchenette or explore the nearby restaurants and try authentic local dishes.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
Great hotel. I’d be back in a heartbeat. Me and my friend (we’re both early 20s, so minimal budget) paid £300 for 5 nights , half board. Feel like we got more than we paid for!!
Firstly, pool is big!! Average uk swimming pool size.
Food is REALLY GOOD, 10/10. Breakfast: However for the brits reading.. some morning the fry ups were a bit poor- just sausage , egg and mushrooms, but other mornings it was bacon, egg, beans and was much nicer. Dinner: DELICIOUS. Stuff for everyone. I even ate goat and rabbit (for those more adventurous with food), was SUPERB. Everything was cut to perfection. The meat practically fell off the bone.
Staff- LOVELY. Raquel at the bar- she was such a sweetheart, deserves a pay rise for her lovely customer service skills.
Hotel residents - a big European melting pot; mainly Germans and Irish, a few Spanish, Italians and a few Brits.. although when me and my friend left on the Sunday to go home, the hotel was 50% English (a flight must’ve just got in at the weekend). You can tell it wasn’t a big English hotel because the breakfasts weren’t 10/10. But a lovely mix of Europeans for those looking for that.
The rooms; big, spacious, balcony also spacious, beds comfy, bathroom big also… Me and my friends room was practically on the beach. We were 10 steps away from the sand and had a full sea view (that we didn’t pay for)!!!!
Location: ideal. 45 minute walk to the centre of purto del carmen, or a €4 taxi drive. The town was also great on night life, shopping etc.
Negatives: -the locks on the rooms (our room at least) didn’t feel the most secure. -there was some spotting of ants in our kitchen and bathroom ; nothing major, but we made sure to put our food in the fridge - and then we didn’t see them again. -there was some stains on the curtains and the furniture wasn’t the most luxury.. but at the end of the day for such a good price hotel you’re not gonna get ‘luxury’.
Lanzarote cons: -the island was extremely windy!!! avoid the beach unless you want to be covered head to toe in sand
All in all I would 100% recommend this hotel for people looking for a lower budget but GREAT hotel.
The mother and I arrived at this hotel having never been before and after reading all the reviews on how bad the rooms are (dated wise ) was skeptical, but we walked through the door into the reception area and greeted by such a lovley man on reception extremely friendly and helpful. We got to our apartment ground floor and had a nice big balcony and the room was spotless and spacious yes its dated but who cares about the decor along as its clean which it was and the beds were so comfortable no complaints at all.
The only thing we didnt know and didn't like was the drink service at dinner , we tried to pay for our drinks as you do and the lady in the dining area told me she couldn't speak English so that was very difficult to try and understand whats happening with drinks at dinner , we just wanted to pay as you go like you do , but this hotel you have to pay the bill at the end a tab , we didn't like that at all. The food at dinner was limited but there was something. LOCATION. Its in a fantastic location beach right over the road a very long promenade to walk either way and lots of bars , shops and restaurants a short stroll away . We would definitely return to this hotel :)
me and my sister went to the costa mar on 4th may til 9th may for a short break,on arrival we were checked in by the most welcoming receptionist called tony,he is such an asset to this hotel, our apartment was very clean and spacious, the two bedrooms were great, large built in wardrobes, very comfortable beds, well equipped kitchen area with microwave, hot plates for cooking, kettle, coffee machine ect, cups, plates and utensils,a large dining table to eat at,comfortable sofa/bed and tv in the lounge area, mostly spanish and german channels, outide balcony area was huge with sun lounger and table n chairs and an ashtray for the smokers,we were so surprised when we realised that there was stairs leading up to a big beautiful sun terrace that was ours to use,the sea views were amazing, this hotel is situated in between matagorda and the main strip of puerto del carmen, theres are several buses routes outside the hotel, the pool area is very clean, plenty of sun loungers to be found, pool bar is open at 12 and closes at 4,we were half board so we had to buy our drinks,at dinner your drinks were brought to you and charged to your room, you would settle the bill at the end of your holiday when checking out,the food was very nice, there wasnt too much to choose from but was always fresh hot n tasty, something to be found every day,we loved the soups n fresh breads, breakfast was as you would expect from a spanish hotel, the restaurant staff were very nice and attentive, this is a no frills hotel,it was not noisy,we wanted a quiet relaxing short break and this hotel was just perfect for us,we will definitely holiday here again,,our room was g21 block,
We have just come back from 4 days here, would we go back here? No probably not. The Costa mar is a large apartment/hotel. The apartments are big and spacious but very dated and in need of a refurb. The kitchen areas are very old and in need of modernising. There is no air con in the bedrooms only in the living room area so in peak summer it will probably be uncomfortable trying to sleep. The bathroom is basic but it’s ok, again it does need a refurb. The bedroom area is ok, just beds and a wardrobe. There is a safe which costs extra. You also need to pay for WiFi if you want it in your room which I thought was strange. I’ve never known a hotel charge for WiFi. But You could use a free version at reception. There is no entertainment whatsoever, there’s no pool or table tennis tables. The pool is tiny with not a lot of sun loungers, if it was peak summer and the hotel was full it would be awful. The pool area is too small for a complex this size. The pool area is nice and clean but just too small. There is a very old park for younger children which is pretty rubbish. If I was taking young children I would not stay here. There is nothing for them to do really. I think this complex is suited for older people. The hotel grounds are nice and kept clean and tidy, the reception area is spacious. There is a bar but it’s hardly open. It’s a pool bar until 4pm then nothing until dinner service at 6pm. It shuts very early in the evening. We were half board (breakfast & dinner) The food is not too bad, just not loads of choice. There was always fresh salad, fruit, ham & cheeses. There was always a pasta dish, fish and then a meat dish every evening. There was always chips. No options for children really. The desserts were disappointing, just frozen mini cake portions. Quite bland and flavourless The breakfast was ok,there was continental ham, cheese & salads. Different pastries, eggs, beans, bacon and sausages. You could also get coffees & fruit juices with breakfast too. There was toasters and different selection of bread rolls with both breakfast & dinner. One problem we did have was the butter portions . It was in the fridge in the morning then left on the side in the evening. It smelt really bad and we did have one pack that was mouldy. But overall the food is ok and the restaurant area is nice and kept very clean. The staff are nice. Location wise it is very close to the beach (less than 5 minutes) just outside the hotel is a spar, chemist and 2 restaurants. It’s about a 5 minute walk to Los Jameo where there is some more restaurants, bars and shops but if you want to go to the main town puerto del carmen that’s about a 30 min walk. There is loads of shops, bars, restaurants and a different beach, we walked there everyday as there is a bit more to see and do. If you want somewhere with something to do in the evening then this is not the place to stay.
We stayed for a week at the Costa mar and went self catering as we like doing our own thing. We had asked for an upper floor and we paid a bit extra but it so worth it. We had a spacious 1 bed apartment with a large private balcony overlooking the beach. Fabulous. Yes it’s basic , no frills but we’ve stayed in similar places before so wasn’t expecting much. However it’s clean , comfortable and convenient. Excellent spar shop on the doorstep and plenty of places to eat close by or you can eat at the hotel €10 breakfast buffet or €16 dinner . We had a brilliant time and the pool was an added bonus. Staff are lovely and very helpful. I would definitely book again x
