Surrounded by tropical gardens, the modern beach hotel Hipotels La Geria is situated first line to the beautiful, broad sandy beach and the crystal-clear waters of Pocillos. The centre of the tourist resort Puerto del Carmen as well as the Lanzarote Golf Resort are just a few minutes away by car, and the impressive Timinfaya National Park can be reached within a short drive. The international airport is also just a few minutes away. The excellent hotel offers wonderfully appointed rooms with a clean, modern decoration. Features include WIFI, air-conditioning, satellite-TV and a balcony or terrace. The hotel has a fantastic pool landscape with a large pool, surrounded by palm trees and terraces with sun loungers and parasols. There is a children's pool and a playground, as well as a gym, a sauna, a diving school and free WIFI in the lobby. This is a perfect hotel for couples or families with children wishing to spend a nice holiday under the sun.
Really disappointing experience. The hotel itself was alright, but the behaviour of the staff was extremely unpleasant. I say this as a 19-year-old young woman travelling with my family; the rudeness was not directed solely towards me, but towards my entire family. We were repeatedly spoken to with an unnecessary level of abruptness and disrespect by all members of staff, which made us feel extremely unwelcome throughout our stay.
Unfortunately, our experience was made even worse when one of the hotel’s beach towels was evidently stolen by another guest. We were subsequently expected to pay £20 for the towel. When we raised the matter with staff, their response was extremely dismissive and contemptuous. Rather than showing any understanding or taking our concerns seriously, we were made to feel as though the situation was simply our responsibility.
What is particularly concerning is the fact that the towel went missing while we were staying at the hotel. It naturally leaves us questioning what could have happened had we left more of our personal belongings alongside it. Would those have been taken as well? As a guest, that is not a concern you should have to leave a hotel with.
Ultimately, it was not simply the missing towel that left such a negative impression, but the way the situation was handled and the attitude we encountered from staff throughout our stay. Guests should be treated with basic courtesy, respect, and understanding, none of which we felt we received.
I would not recommend this hotel if you are looking for a pleasant and relaxing holiday experience. While the hotel itself was alright, the consistently rude and dismissive attitude of the staff significantly detracted from our stay. There are many lovely hotels here in Lanzarote, this is not one of them.
Overall a great experience at this excellent hotel. The facilities were of a high standard and the hotel is located right across the road from the sandy beach of Playa de los Pocillos. The rooms are very clean with a daily maid service and good air conditioning. There was a wide variety of delicious food on offer in the buffet restaurant with fresh cooked options available at the cooking stations. Thanks to the warm, friendly, professional staff there - Jordi, Tomas and Kristoph who made us feel welcome during our stay and the efficient waiters and waitresses. The bar staff were very helpful especially Ezequiel. We loved taking part in the daily aqua gym/aqua zumba activity with Edward (very good, very nice) who made it fun. Carolina on the Entertainment team was very friendly and thanks to her for taking some photographs for us. As for the evening entertainment, the magician was amazing, as were the juggler, contortionist and the African singing trio. The reception staff were also helpful - with thanks to Sofia. The gym was small but my daughter used it daily with no complaints. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
I recently stayed at Hipotels La Geria and left overall quite disappointed. I booked this property after hearing positive recommendations about it being a great choice for solo travelers, but my experience did not match that at all. Throughout most of the trip, the atmosphere felt distinctly unwelcoming and judgmental, making it hard to feel fully comfortable or accepted as a solo guest.
The room amenities and dining were a mixed bag with some frustrating drawbacks:
Faulty Air Conditioning: The AC in the room was practically useless. Instead of cooling the room down, it constantly circulated warm, stuffy air. Even on the lowest possible setting, the temperature never dropped below 23°C, making comfortable sleep difficult.
Dining Inconsistency: Lunch and evening meals were decent enough, but breakfast was consistently poor. Hot items were frequently overdone and burnt, with the eggs on multiple mornings tasting completely of charcoal.
Standout Service from Daniel: The main bright spot of the entire stay was the bar service. A huge shoutout to Daniel at the bar—he took the time to recognize me early on and always knew to get my Hipotels cocktail ready whenever I approached. That kind of attentive, friendly service was genuinely appreciated.
While Daniel's excellent service and the later meals were fine, the overall lack of hospitality toward solo guests and the ineffective AC mean I won't be returning.
A 3-star property like Hotel Floresta might carry a lower rating on paper, but it offers a far more welcoming, accommodating experience than what I encountered here.
When we first arrived our flight was delayed and there was a problem with our transfer to the hotel. However, the hotel immediately lifted the mood. Our check-in process was smooth, we missed dinner but they had a meal prepared for us for the night and our first impression was very good.
Throughout the week our experience at the hotel just kept getting better and better as the days went on, to the point we didn't actually want to leave.
Room quality: Clean comfortable and really good standard - 4.5/5.
Hotel facilities: Excellent facilities - 5/5.
Staff interactions: Superb! The professionalism, friendliness, helpfulness and overall customer service was faultless. The staff were a massive contributing factor to the warmth, energy and vibe in the hotel. From what I saw everyone was equally having a great experience - 5/5.
Location: Brilliant and hidden in plain sight! Close enough to the airport that travel was less than 10mins, despite that we didn't have planes flying over our hotel unlike others we saw further down the coast. Easy access to the beach, zoo/waterpark, shops and other amenities - 5/5.
Unique experiences: On our final day we noticed the hotel has won awards 3 separate awards for the last 2 years running and it makes so much sense! Any memorable or noteworthy moments.
Overall impression: Every box was ticked, there were pleasant surprises along the way and as someone who has travelled a lot this is most certainly one of the best holidays I've ever had!! This hotel is rated 4* and I'm genuinely mind boggled how it's not a 5*.
Thank you Hipotels La Geria, you owe my family nothing!! 5/5
Just returned from a one week stay in this exceptional hotel and location. This was our first return to the Canaries in over 30 years and we could not fault it. A very well maintained hotel with great staff. We were on a bed and breakfast basis and the breakfast options were excellent. The staff even gave me a surprise at breakfast on my birthday which was a lovely touch. The room and balcony were very well appointed and looked after daily by housekeeping, and gave a great view of the pool, garden and sea. Its location next to the beach was ideal for daily walks and swimming, with many shops and restaurants very close by. We enjoyed our stay there immensely and now planning our return to La Geria.
