Puerto del Carmen

Just a short distance from the beach, these pleasant and charming apartments are located in a wonderful setting in Lanzarote island, in Tías municipality, where guests can either relax and spend soothing holidays or find all the action they need at the nearby Puerto del Carmen tourist town, around 4 km away. Guests might enjoy a good night's sleep and a comfortable stay at these apartments that come with everything necessary such as a fully-equipped kitchenette. Moreover, each of them is simply but beautifully decorated in a traditional and cheery style and enjoy a lot of natural light and some have a balcony or a terrace, where guests can relax with a soft drink and surrounded by their beloved ones. Additionally, there are some rooms with accessible features, ideal for those who might need them. Everyone might enjoy the snack bar by the pool and families will appreciate the children's pool.

Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.

Cold Food - Cold Pool

Review by steerpike01 keyingham

I booked a 2 bedroom villa with heated pool.

Accommodation Plus points: the villa has all the amenities you require, microwave, hob, fridge freezer, pod coffee machine, kettle, washing machine, basically it is home from home in terms of facilities, so no problem here. The pool area itself was great, spacious with artificial grass and a good size pool, there is also a covered area with comfortable Ratten furniture and BBQ chimney so you can relax out of the sunshine or cook something up.

Bathrooms: 1 shower room with spacious walk in shower and one bathroom with bath and overhead shower, both with dual sink vanity units - all clean an tidy. The bath had jets but is in need of an upgrade.

Bedrooms: spacious light with plenty of storage and wardrobe space.

Accommodation Bad Points:

Pool is cold, set at 23-27 degrees according to the staff, we complained on the second day and the pool guy turned it up so the chill was taken off and it was mildly warm when using, but this lasted only 24 hours and it was again cold and not suitable for my 78 year old parents, I complained again but was simply told it was at temperature and the chlorine and pool would be affected if it was set any higher.....

well sorry but I have rented villas with pools all over the world and this one was definitely not heated to a comfortable level so don't pay for the pool if you really want heat.

The steps down into the pool were difficult for my parents only 2 steps down and a drop to the pool floor and a significant effort was required to haul yourself out. I did mention mobility issues in an email to the reception prior to arriving and although most of my requests were met I think this was overlooked. A Deluxe villa has gentle steps down into the pool and would have been better.

Staff: The staff were generally always very polite and helpful and I asked for a quiet villa prior to arriving as it was a 60th Wedding Anniversary celebration and they ticked almost all the boxes and left a very nice note and bottle of fizz on the anniversary day.

The pool guy who visited the second time was a little arrogant and rude and did not listen to our concerns about the pool, he said he was going to call his boss to discuss then left and never came back.

Food: Despite having all the cooking facilities in the villa we booked Half Board and I had noticed the reviews talking about cold food, but dismissed this on the basis that all European hotels serve food colder than here in the UK, but unfortunately this was the main issue with the food.

Both breakfast and the evening meals offered a good range of choice, but it was never hot unless you asked for something from the grill, not even warm, always cold. This was a shame as the dishes would have been good if a hot.

I did not use the main hotel facilities, but there is a gym, pools, kids play area and everything was spotless.

No evening entertainment.

5 minute walk to the beach with a few restaurants and bars nearby and only 10 minutes walk into Puerto Del Carmen so our location was good and the villa quiet and private.

Would I return: Maybe the private heated pool and food were the main reason for our choosing the accommodation and they did not live up to our expectations. So maybe I would on a self catering basis in the height of summer. The villas would suit a younger family.

Nice set up just needs a few tweaks to make the place more appealing.
