LISTEN TO THE BAD REVIEWS. I would give zero stars if I could.
Our room was disgusting when we arrived (at 2am so we had no choice but to just go to sleep). There were hairs left in the corner of the bathroom and pubic hairs up the shower wall - so it obviously had not been cleaned. The sheets smelt damp and some of the pillowcases had bloodstains on them. The bed for our third person was rock solid and the mattress was stained a very brownish colour.
My friend became violently unwell after eating at the restaurant - we hadn’t ate anywhere else all day so it is the only option. When we explained that the paella tasted bad + was the only thing she ate that we didn’t, we were very abruptly dismissed with “all our seafood is frozen so you can’t get ill from it”. Well that’s not how it works. If you don’t handle the thawing process correctly or if it’s poor quality in the first place it can still cause food poisoning. She had sudden bad cramps in her stomach, diarrhoea and night sweats for the first evening of our stay.
The staff in the restaurant work very hard, but the food was awful. None of us eat meat, so every night we’d just eat salad and potato if we could find it. Even if you ate meat, the options were always paella, curry and rice - very random. We were eating pancakes at breakfast and then realised they staff cook the pancakes on top of where they make the omelettes which include ham!
The hotel will only provide you with water during breakfast, at dinner you have to pay €3 for water which I think is disgraceful given how hot it is. There is never water available near to the gym which makes working out impossible, and the small bit of water near reception always has fruit in.
During the middle of our stay the fire alarms rang once at 4AM and once at 5AM. When i complained at reception I was merely told “they are being tested” - in the middle of the night? Again, no apology.
There is a no reserving sunbeds policy which of course no one listens to, but this is classic brits abroad. If the hotel is going to have posters up stating this, then they should try and enforce it. Otherwise, take the posters down.
The hotel may be adults only, but as you step outside you’re swarmed with families with young children riding loud go-karts. So if you want to truly relax just find somewhere else.
Friendly, helpful staff. Good location over looking a small marina. Great food, breakfast and evening meal, plenty of choice. Spacious room over looking the marina, housekeeping every morning, clean, well presented rooms. Beach a very short walk away as the hotel pool was fairly small and very busy. Lovely atmosphere around the marina bars and restaurants in the evening.
Rather disappointing and doesn’t give a four star experience. We’re half board - breakfast is great, plenty of choice but dinner is dreadful - forget it if you’re vegi or want pasta. Pool is very small and busy so although great for cooling down, useless for swimming lengths. As others have mentioned, the photos of the pool aren’t true to life. Decor is dated and tired although our bathroom is excellent. Poor aircon in room but reception offered us a fan which helps. Terrible smell of damp in reception area which gives a poor first impression, and bleach smell everywhere . A real shame as the staff are lovely and location is great. Overall the hotel feels like a lower end three star experience - EasyJet, you really should review the hotel rating.
Absolutely lovely stay. Just a short walk from the harbour, Cala bona and Cala millor which are both filled with restaurants, supermarkets and bars. The room was spotless and stocked with additional toiletries such as toothpaste and conditioner. Staff were attentive and helpful, other customers were incredibly friendly which contributed to a positive atmosphere. Incredibly good value for money, I booked directly and signed up to their rewards programme and received an upgraded room with harbour views and free drinks upon arrival. The pool was clean and plenty of sunbeds although people were reserving them before breakfast (this happens everywhere), we had no issues getting a sunbed however. The breakfast was basic but eggs were cooked fresh, the dinners were delicious with plenty of food available and meats/ fish cooked fresh. The hotel is a very short walk from the a42 bus stop to the airport, which made a very comfortable journey. After reading the negative reviews on here I was skeptical but we did not encounter any of the issues mentioned.
Ok, so the hotel is a bit dated. The rooms do the job, clean, comfortable, balcony. Nothing special. Nothing bad. Bathroom clean also. Maid service great. We had a room overlooking the pool and it was great. The pool closes at 7pm so no noise late on. We had read reviews about the food not being very good, but we can only assume they are trying to improve as we found the food to be amazing. Breakfast had everything you need, fruit, pastries, cakes , cereal, typical English breakfasts, they cook fresh omelette in front of you with ingredients of your choice. Then evening meals were equally as good. Same great choice with certain foods being cooked for you such as swordfish, steak, chicken skewers, salmon. Honestly cant complain about the food. We didn't bother with hotel entertainment as Cala Bona is such a beautiful town we spent every evening wandering around. So many bars and restaurants but such a peaceful vibe. The coast is stunning with some great walks, but the actual beaches in Cala Bona are rocky so we walked to Cala Millor for the sand etc. Either way, the water is crystal clear. I'd say the hotel is 3 star not 4 star, but for the price and location we would definitely go back.
