Pleasant hotel, lovely staff

Review by clarko31 Huddersfield, United Kingdom

The staff - I cannot fault the staff at this hotel, they were all really friendly and very helpful.

The food – This I have to say was a massive disappointment. There was a large amount of variety but anything that was not cooked to order was cold...

I had some scrambled egg the first morning and it was like it had just come out of the fridge. The main issue I had with the food though was the lack of labels for gluten free options. I am a coeliac so cannot eat wheat or gluten, I emailed before we arrived to check they were able to cater for me and they advised they could. On the first night I asked the waiting staff what was gluten free, they said they would get the Chef. The Chef took me round all the food and advised me what I could and couldn’t have, sadly this did not fill me with hope as I was advised I could have the Cous Cous dish and the paella however, that evening it had been made with Pasta. Needless to say, I did not eat anything they advised and just stuck to fruit.

The following morning, I could see the bacon and egg were cooked in front of you so I decided to have some as I could see what they were doing. By the time my eggs were ready all the bacon was gone. I went back later to get an omelette for my mum and found the chef cooking pancakes on the same griddle they cooked the eggs on, cross contamination is super important for coeliacs. So in the 3 days we were there I did not have a decent meal at the hotel.

Luckily for me McDonalds in Spain do gluten free bread, so I was able to travel to Cala Millor and have a McDonalds.

The rooms- The ground floor were a really good size and ample room for a wheelchair to be used. The downside was that the toilet was low so my mum who has limited mobility struggled to lower herself on to this and then struggled to get up as there were no grab rails. There were no grab rails at all in the bathroom however, a stool for the shower was provided when requested. The terrace attached to the room was ideal with a little chair and table set and was shaded pretty much all day.

5th floor room itself was lovely, clean, comfy bed and lovely pool view balcony. The only downsides were the shower, it was not very powerful at all (the ground floor shower was a lot better) The lift was very small (one person and a suitcase was all that would fit)

The Pool – Please be aware the pictures on the internet are quite misleading as the pool looks big on them, its not at all, in fact, in my opinion its not big enough for the number of rooms the hotel has. However, I cannot fault the cleaning staff as every night the floor around the pool was mopped and the pool cleaned.

Disappointed

Review by 873jackyb London, United Kingdom

This could be a great hotel as it is a great position. Staff were friendly and efficient. Needs an update. I hade a panoramic view on the top floor sun beds but no umbrella. We were unable to get a bed around the pool for our whole stay...

The food was warm. Porridge was off and smelled l did try telling the waitress. We ended up eating out. Bar area not enough staff. They had very good entertainment but not the drinks we wanted. While seating in a shaded area was asked to move so they could put a dart board on the wall. Surly they should an area for this. Such a shame as this could be an excellent hotel.

Cala Bona holiday

Review by Jiny59 Sunderland, United Kingdom

This hotel is situated in an excellent location. It overlooks the harbour and close to other amenities. My husband, friend and I and two members of my family stayed for two weeks...

The room we had was right at the pool. A lovely location. I'm disabled and had to ask people to move sunbeds as they were right up to the entrance of our room. This was a near daily occurrence. Not good. The room was of a good size and cleaned daily. The domestic staff are really lovely girls and nothing a bother. The pools are both good, however, loud music is a no no. Most elder people don't like rap. I don't mind music on, but just a bit loud. The FOOD is awful. Cold or luke warm. Ate out most nights. The reception staff not very helpful. This is not a 3+star. For me, more in line with a 2 star. Only the location gives it a higher star rating. Get the food right, ensure hot food and hot plates and maybe, just maybe, reviews will improve. Sorry to say, but I won't book this hotel again. A lot of money for poor service.

Nice hotel

Nice hotel but not 4 star. Staff lovely and hotel room clean. Poolside good, my only complaint which many guests mentioned, the food was not kept up to temperature at the buffet service...

Porridge in morning was cold as was several of the main dishes at night. Great selection of food but sadly not very warm . We did enjoy the company of some feral kittens tho !! Super cute
