Great location, but too many issues for the price

The beach was definitely the highlight of our stay. It was beautiful and very convenient, and I really enjoyed having it so close to the hotel.

Unfortunately, there were quite a few issues during our three-night stay. The Wi-Fi was not working for our entire stay. I contacted the hotel and complained, and they did try to fix it, but it never actually worked. This was especially stressful because I needed to work during the trip.

Both elevators were also out of service, which was very inconvenient. Parking was another major issue. It was extremely difficult to find a spot, and I eventually had to get a reserved parking space for €20 per day. The hotel only has four reserved spots, so parking felt like a constant struggle.

The refrigerator in our room wasn't working, and the air conditioning was not very good either. Breakfast was also disappointing and, in my opinion, did not live up to what I would expect at this price point.

One major positive was the gym!!! it was excellent and very well equipped. That was definitely one of the best features of the hotel.

Overall, while I loved the beach and appreciated the gym, there were simply too many issues during our stay. For the price, I would choose to stay somewhere else next time.

Disappointing and not what we expected from a Superior Double Room

We were really disappointed with our stay, particularly given the price we paid. Based on the hotel’s positioning and the fact we booked a Superior Double Room, we expected a much better standard.

The room is small, tired and poorly maintained. The bathroom is extremely small, with very limited space and nowhere to hang towels other than in the shower. There is also very little storage, with just one small hanging rail for two people. One of the drawers in the dresser does not even open because the furniture is in poor repair.

We specifically booked a double room, but the bed is actually two single beds pushed together. Rather than providing a proper double bed, the hotel has simply put double sheets over the two separate mattresses. This is not what we expected from a Superior Double Room.

One of the biggest issues was the bedroom door. It does not self-close or lock automatically, meaning it is possible to walk away from the room without it being properly secured. You have to pull or slam the door hard to close it, which is extremely noisy and repeatedly disrupted our sleep, even with earplugs.

We have also found the attitude of some staff disappointing. The first response to requests often seems to be “no” rather than trying to find a solution. For example, when we asked whether we could refill our water bottles from the dispenser available at breakfast, we were told no and directed to the bar. At the bar, we were told that we could not drink the tap water and would need to buy bottled water. For a hotel of this standard, we find this unreasonable and unnecessarily poor hospitality.

We were also surprised that pool towels have to be rented for €5. Given the price of the stay, we would expect basic pool towels to be provided.

The common areas are a different story. The terrace restaurant and indoor communal areas are nicely finished and appear to be well maintained. Unfortunately, the pool area, which is where guests actually want to spend their time in Mallorca, feels old, tired and in need of significant investment. The contrast between the communal areas and the pool area is quite stark.

The location and views are undoubtedly excellent, and Cala Major itself is beautiful. However, the location cannot make up for the condition of the room, the lack of basic amenities and the general standard around the pool.

Overall, we feel the hotel is significantly overpriced for what is provided. We would not consider this to be the standard we would expect from a Superior Double Room with 4 stars, and based on our experience, we would not choose to stay here again.
