Hotel Ilusion Calma & Spa

The hotel is well located, and is just a few minutes walk from the sea front and shops. It is approximately 15 minutes taxi ride from the airport and about the same to Palma city if you want a day out, We got a warm welcome on arrival from reception, 2 lovely guys who made us feel at ease straight away. Our room was on the second floor overlooking the pool. The room was a bit smaller than I expected, and I was disappointed by the lack of storage space which resulted in us leaving all our underwear and anything that wouldn’t crease in our suitcase. The only things we could get in the wardrobe were a few delicate tops and dresses. There were 3 shelves in the wardrobe, 2 of which were taken up with spare bedding and the middle shelf was mainly taken up with the safe. We were only there for five nights but I was talking to an elderly couple who had booked for 10 nights and were extremely unhappy about the storage situation. There was what I can only describe as a long worktop with a fridge underneath on the left. The rest was open space which could easily have been utilised for drawers or shelving for more storage. Otherwise it was a pleasant room, clean and well maintained and a nice size bathroom with a shower. The balcony was a nice size, overlooking the pool and nice to sit out for a drink in the evening. The maids were really lovely and helpful especially when I was having difficulty getting in my room. She came to help me and explained that I needed to go to reception and tell them the door lock needed a new battery. The hotel overall had a nice atmosphere with friendly staff in all areas. The dining room was busy and at certain times you were searching for a table. I would imagine that it would be more difficult peak times although the staff worked really hard to clear tables as quickly as possible . The food was good, always hot and I could always find something I liked. The little cakes were delicious, better than other places I have stayed. Near the bar there is a self service snack bar open 11am til 5pm for burgers hot dogs, fries and other hot food but it wasn’t always that hot. There was also a small freezer with small tubs of ice cream, 2 slush puppy drink machines, cold drinks and tea and coffee. The drink machines aren’t accessible until 10am so there is nowhere to get a coffee until the dining room opens for breakfast. Evening entertainment wasn’t the best, but ideal for families with young children. The pool area was clean with plenty of sunbeds but not enough umbrellas, it was extremely hot while we were there and everyone was fighting for shade. The only criticism I had was that the sunbeds butted up to each other so for anyone like me with mobility problems it was a difficult getting enough space to get on and off them so I always tried to get one on the end of a row. The pool area can’t be accessed too early which stopped people reserving sunbeds with towels. Two young Spanish girls provided the pool entertainment and they were brilliant getting everyone involved. It was interesting how many young lads got in the pool quickly when they did aqua aerobics! If I was having a short break again I would happily stay again but not if I was staying longer just due to lack of storage.

The reason why I chose this hotel was from reading the reviews in January. We went at the end of July. Got the A2 bus to hotel, easy check in. Hotel is not massive, but it is quiet, nice and calm. we found you will always find a table for breakfast, lunch and dinner. You will always find a sun lounger also. Is this the nicest hotel ever? No, but it does the job, the food is fine, the gym is a bit small, but overall it is absolutely fine and not bad value for end of July all inclusive. The staff are very helpful, friendly and are good at their jobs. Credit to the bar men, very kind and chatty. The evenings entertainment is nothing spectacular, but me and my boyfriend were happy to go down, have a few drinks and play cards. The location is good, easy to go to the beach. I do recommend this hotel for people, but it isn’t the best you will find. The room we had was one of the older ones, very very basic but functional.

Lovely staff at this hotel but a few things let it down. The air con in our room was not great,the hotel rooms could do with an upgrade. Mould on balcony, mould on curtains, large hole on our wall. The beds were comfy though. All staff were absolutely amazing 🤩 big shout out to ricardo ❤️ location great close to beach and airport.
