Dirty hotel with rude staff

Hotel doesn't care about cleanliness during breakfast and dinner. Hygiene and cleanliness are low. Everything is terribly dirty...

Plates, cutlery and coffee machine. The oil in the fryer seemed to have never been changed. The reconstruction of the hotel is only partial. The whole hotel would need renovation. In the photos everything looks very nice. The food was not good and the staff was rude. An adult bathed in the children's pool, but children are not allowed in the others. I was laughed at my complaint that it is for children from 4 to 12 years. Mallorca is a beautiful island, but choose another accommodation.

Wonderful Hotel, spotless, excellent food & really helpful staff.

Review by IanandSheila Norwich, United Kingdom

On arrival at 10pm the reception staff where really pleasant and helpful, this was an good early indication what of what to expect. The room was spotless, the only thing missing was a kettle. The restaurant, had a great selection on offer at breakfast and dinner...

The waitresses were extremely pleasant and helpful as were all the hotel staff. The gym, spa and 3 x pools were extremely well maintained. We would have no hesitation recommending the hotel, however in the height of the season I would think it would be extremely busy. The hotel is about a 5-10 minute walk to the lovely sandy beach. We couldn’t fault the hotel or its staff. Thank you Grupotel Gran Vista & Spa…

Great hotel in a nice location

Review by mattjess0310 Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates

We've been visiting as a family with one baby and have felt very welcome. The staff was very accommodating and friendly - reception, restaurant team and cleaners were all great. Reception staff speaks German very well.

There's plenty space between tables in the restaurant and lifts are dedicated to families, so we felt safe with regards to the pandemic.

The location is very good, it's close to the beach and several restaurants and cafés.

The hotel has a big parking space, so the hotel can be used for road trips to explore the island.

Rooms' cleanliness was not extraordinary but ok.

Breakfast could be a bit higher quality (e.g...

canned fruits served instead of fresh; juices from machine instead of fresh).

Remains the best

Review by OwenLondon London

Thankfully the travel restrictions eased to allow us to return for a 4th time to this jewel of a hotel in Ca'n Picafort. Whilst Covid measures were strictly observed in communal areas and the dining room this did not detract from the enjoyment of our stay. What makes this hotel special is the staff...

Their welcome always warm and friendly seemed even moreso this year as they were so genuinely happy to see not just returning guests but new guests to Gran Vista after such a difficult period. The exceptionally high standards which over the 6 years we have been visiting remain as from the top downwards it feels the emphasis is for their guests to enjoy every moment of their stay and enjoy we once again did. Our sincere thanks to the whole team at Grupotel Gran Vista & Spa for making a stay with you possible this year and for looking after us so well. We will for sure be back!

Back again and so happy we returned

Review by theclairebridge Holyport, United Kingdom

We visited Gran Vista back in 2013 and have been reminiscing about the rooftop bar and endless supply of sun loungers ever since, so when we were ready to book our first post-covid trip abroad we knew we had to go back to this place. We're so glad we braved the testing and paperwork!

First up, let me say we felt super safe at all times - menus have mostly been replaced by QR codes, there's hand sanitiser around the hotel, everything is spotless and staff wear masks at all times. Attention to detail is such that they even sanitise the salt and pepper pots on the tables when they re-lay them...

Guests mostly respected the rules too - although the restaurant could have done with a bit of refining as no one observed the one-way system or the designated entrance/exit points.

The location is second to none: right in the heart of Can Picafort and a stone's throw from the beach.

The hotel itself has seen some modernisation since we last visited - although the garden rooms I think are still waiting for a refurb. We had tons of space with a kitchenette, two balconies, lounge area and large bathroom. My only quibble about the room was with the air conditioning: it was excellent in the living area but practically non-existent in the bedroom. We coped but it was September so we weren't battling with fierce heat - just a couple of nights were very uncomfortable. When the aircon we did have seemed to give up the ghost, I called reception and they had it fixed the same day, which was brilliant.

The staff are fabulous: Pepe and Fran in the bar deserve a special mention for always remembering our names and keeping us in mojitos and Negronis for a fortnight, as do Oscar in the restaurant for his generous wine measures, Helen in the spa for restaurant and mozzie spray recommendations(!) and Andreu and Rafael in the pool bar, who served us lunch every day with a smile. Kris on the animation team worked her socks off despite being almost on her own - we took part in aqua gym, shooting and bingo and she even arranged a special petanque match for us one day.

The long trousers & shoes rule at dinner had been relaxed, which was welcome as I always think it's unfair on men when women can apparently swan around wearing whatever they like. Not sure whether this was because the hotel was only about a quarter full, or whether it's a permanent change? The extravagant buffet of eight years ago sadly was no more but again, I guess this is a covid thing. We ate late (around 8pm) because it was quieter - this meant we could eat outside most nights. The only drawback was that some food had run out by this point and it wasn't very warm. Yes, the food can get repetitive but it's not compulsory to eat there every night - we ate in the town a few times to mix things up: Try Monaco or Vinicius for a more leisurely meal.

The pool is huge and will be the benchmark for all our future holidays - plenty of loungers at all times as well as spots to choose from on the grass, which I prefer as you can nip in and out of shade throughout the day.

And of course, the rooftop bar was once again the highlight of our Gran Vista stay, with the ever-changing sunset and live music.

Thank you Gran Vista for making our first post-lockdown trip abroad so happy and memorable. See you again soon!
