We're do I start, resort was clean and in nice area, I know we realized it was last week of season so expect things to be running down and staff ready to leave for break. Air conditioning was turned of start of week we were not told until we were nearly leaving and complained about the heat,no apologies. Staff did not speak kitchen staff just stood behind food service areas and chatted between themselves. Food not good,Luke warm, potatoes not cooked through like eating stones, waitress burnt omelette for me,you needed a chainsaw to cut nearly cold and hard sausages. Worst part we think was we requested a pool view and did not get it,reception told us we would have to pay 20 euro per night to upgrade but we could have it for 10 per night, the hotel was not even half full.
Arrived room was adequate, clean but certainly not 4 star. We were half board and this is where the main issue lies, the food was terrible, same menu almost every night, luke warm/cold food that was awful. We ended up eating out for dinner so avoid half board, breakfast was ok. The cleaning staff are excellent and work really hard our room was always well kept.
Good size of pool and plenty of sunbeds, bar reasonably priced.
The hotel boasts about lagoon style pool with hot tub, the hot tub was never turned on, not any one of the days we stayed.
Air-condition unit was visibly working but not effective, felt too warm at night tried setting the temperature lower that did not help either. Opened the door to balcony to see that would help, unfortunately it was too noisy at night due to the pub close by. Bed sheets never changed even when requested.
Website also mentions reservations include free sol Katmandu pass, and discounts at the Katmandu theme park, when asked at reception we were told none of them actually exist.
Lastly we requested a small meal on the day we checked out. We booked half-board, as we checked in one day later. This was agreed my the manager and chef , but when we went in the evening and my 5 year old picked a plate. The lady at the restaurant was grumpy and stopped us for several minutes questioning why were here to have supper. She called the manager who then advised it was agreed morning.
She still remained grumpy, and stood by the dessert section the entire 10 minutes we stayed there, felt awful to even take something to eat.
Not a good experience overall.
We arrived at the hotel, and the guy at reception was not very welcoming. We could tell he was in auto pilot and couldn't be bothered. We got to our room, which was so small as we had a cot we couldn't even unpack the suitcase, so we asked to be upgraded to a family room, which they did accommodate.(which was appreciated) We were hungry, so we decided to eat at the snack bar. Big mistake, the chicken in the Caesar salad had zero chicken and was processed mushy rubbish. The food that evening was no better, and everyone in the restaurant seemed to be saying the same thing. They have lots of choice but very poor quality, not what you would expect in a 4-star hotel, that bad we asked to speak with the manager who agreed the quality could be better and it wasn't the first complaint they have had. We asked at reception if they could freeze our ice blocks so we could take our baby's breast milk on the plane, the gentleman asked us to ask at the bar so went to the bar to be told they don't have a freezer, I also asked if the kitchen would be able to, which he replied no to as well, (mmmm🙄 my thoughts exactly) & this is the same guy wen asked if they had nuts or crisps at the bar replied no but guess what if you wear a skirt and single u get them brought over to you. As witnessed by me & my partner🙄 so we asked the shop over the road at the convenience store who were more than happy to help. Overall experience in the hotel isn't great. We definitely won't be staying again or recommend anyone else to stay here. The hotel definitely needs knocking down a few stars on the food alone. Don't trust the good reviews if you plan on eating in the hotel for ease as we had to go out every night to eat. The rooms are ok and the cleaning staff do a great job! Also can't fault the entertainment staff they were amazing
Having visited the Guadalupe on numerous times in the past, it is finally getting back to where it was. Because of Covid and horrible Russian visitors ( who stole everything from the restaurant) it's standards did decline somewhat. Although it was quieter than normal as it is nearer to "shutdown" it was very enjoyable. We were B and B as there are numerous lovely restaurants to eat out on a evening. The staff from cleaning, catering and entertainment were first class. If I had to criticise anything it would be the condition of the sun beds on the upper terrace which hopefully be replaced before we return next year.
