Sol Wave House

We stayed at Meliá Calviá Wave from July 18–28 in Room 216. Having visited last year, we expected another great stay, but this trip which naturally was highly priced due to the summer season was completely ruined by constant noise, declining quality, and chaotic organization. Yes, it's Magaluf and yes it is in general loud but our first experience was a positive one, both within the hotel and also in the greater part of Magaluf, now however.... the second experience has dwarfed the first.

The biggest issue was the noise. The room doors lack soft-closing mechanisms, causing constant, heavy slamming in the hallway every time guests walk in and out. This went on nightly until 1:00–3:00 AM. Despite complaining to the front desk twice around midnight, nothing changed. I urged management to take the opportunity to spend some time in the rooms on the second floor to experience what guests are enduring throughout the day/night. If you are a light sleeper, good luck getting any rest!

Other notable downgrades since our last visit in July 2025:

Breakfast: Unfriendly, disengaged morning staff. The fresh juice selection from last year has been replaced by low-quality machine juices, a clear cost-cutting step for sure so if you appreciate the freshness of juice/drink offerings - prepare yourself.

If you enjoy a certain level of quality and cleanliness, Melia Wave offerings it in some ways, for me (personal perspective) the tables in the restaurants while are cleaned repeatedly have a sticky residue on them that will impress even the biggest critic, my servette stuck to that table each morning and each morning I even tried drying or wiping the table myself to no success, while this is perhaps a small detail that many will overlook, for me the restaurant was a place to relax with the view of the ocean and enjoy your meal/coffee. Those that have been will know exactly what I am describing.

Pool Area: Complete chaos. Staff were seen dumping guests' personal belongings onto the floor to reassign loungers to paying groups or larger parties. Why is this worth noting? well, because last year you could book the sun loungers by the pool (the family pool upstairs) now it is a free for all, so at 6am guests are "reserving their spot" with their towels. Good news (or not) is that again Melia decided to forego this arrangement so now you have to book the loungers again - good luck finding out the right way of actually getting yourself a lounger.

We still love Mallorca, but we will not be returning to Meliá Calviá Wave. An expensive holiday meant for relaxation turned into a stressful, noisy experience.

We are currently staying at this property and feel compelled to write this live review. I have only written one hotel review in the past decade, but the lack of hospitality here has forced my hand.

The Positives: Our early hours check-in with the male receptionist was friendly. The hotel’s location is excellent, right in the hub of Majorca's lively district. The sea views are fabulous, and the beach side breakfast selection is wonderful.

The Room: We booked a 2-bedroom beach house suite expecting a true two-bedroom layout with a lounge. Instead, there is no lounge, and the master bedroom lacks a door—it is just a walkway to the balcony. This layout offers zero privacy, defeating the purpose of a romantic holiday when travelling with two teenage daughters.

The Service Issues: For £500 a night, the service is incredibly disappointing. Finding four sunbeds together by the crowded pool is nearly impossible. Furthermore, the adults-only area requires an extra fee—amenities that were completely complimentary during our stay at a Melia hotel in Ibiza last year. Worse is the hostile staff attitude. At an empty bar, I asked for a cup of ice for our complimentary room water. Two bartenders ignored me before one rudely snapped, "No. You cannot have any ice. If you buy some water, then I'll give you ice." Later, a waitress claiming to be a manager refused me ice again, citing rigid hotel policy.Additionally, our "complimentary daily minibar" took 48 hours and multiple front desk visits to finally be replenished today.

Unresolved Management Follow-up: Front desk management promised to follow up with me via WhatsApp or a phone call regarding the staff's rudeness at the bar. Over 24 hours later, I am still waiting for that contact.Management still has time to address these issues before our checkout, but as it stands, the rigid policies and poor hospitality are ruining our holiday.

Firstly I want to say I normally stay in 5 star all inclusives around the world so I know what you get from decent hotels and this place exceeded my expectations. We had two full front sea view rooms and they are really clean and spacious and done out modern but with little boujis touches to personalise each room. The staff were really friendly and couldn’t do enough to help if there was anything you needed. The location is absolutely perfect for walking around Magaluf and being right on the beach is ideal. I’m writing this on my last night here and I’m gutted because I tried to book an extra few days but it’s full. Now for my only gripe about the hotel, some of the rooms appear to be privately owned and the room next to mine (I stayed in 544) had a really annoying yappy little dog that they happily let sit on the balcony with them every single night and never told it off or put it inside when it was continuously barking until nearly 2am every night we’ve been here and I wanted to throw it off the balcony. Apart from that everything was great and I will definitely be returning
