If you are traveling with pets, I recommend DO NOT STAY in this hotel. We did the booking few weeks ahead of our stay, and informed the hotel staff we were coming with a dog. They immediately responded that the dog was welcome, that we need to pay 20 €/day, and that we need to confirm we were coming with the dog...
We confirmed, and accepted charges. No more info received from the hotel. We arrived the hotel, and did check in. No remarks related to the dog. The other day when we arrived to the restaurant to have breakfast, a dependant told us the dog was not allowed in the restaurant and in any public area of the hotel (terraces, restaurants, piscine, etc, etc, etc). We addressed the problem at the counter, and at that moment they printed the policy related to the dogs. The solution they propose is that we should leave the dog in the room while we were going to use the public areas. The policy says that if you leave the dog in the room, he/she should stage in his/her cage (“se permitirá dejar a las mascotas solas en las habitaciones en sus correspondientes jaulas transportadoras”). The irony is that they sign the policy with a big seal “Mascotas Bienvenidas – Pet Friendly”, what we believe is not the case. We will not never come back to this hotel.
Visited this hotel for two nights with my girlfriend, and we chose it because of the view from the room and the location. What bothered me was that they had only 2 floors oprational, second and fifth. Alltough I paid a lot extra for the sea view, they gave me two options: a double room at second floor, or a single room on the fifth floor...
We sacrificed the room size for the view in the end, but when you pay 150 EUR per night you would expect the room to have the correct size and view. The room is modern though it lacks basic amenities such as slippers, and the balcony was very spacious, almost the size of the room itself. The view makes you forget about those small details, and the breakfast was perfect ! Really enjoyed the orange fresh machine and the pastry products.
There was no parking available but you could easily find free parking spaces nearby the hotel. There is literally a 5 minutes walk to the Las Palma main boulevard that takes you to La Palma port and toward the cathedral and old city center, maybe 20 minutes walk.
Would recommend this hotel !
It’s a pity about some of the guests!
My first trip following the lifting of some of the confinement regulations in Spain, naturally I was concerned but on arrival at the Catalonia I couldn’t have been made to feel my health and safety was more important that their own Mothers.
Hand sanitiser everywhere, staff all keeping social distancing regulations, cleanliness has always been good, now they’ve risen that even higher in the public areas. Reception spotless (I miss the sweeties) bins to dispose of your masks and gloves when they need changing, housekeeping very visible cleaning and sanitising continuously...
I love the welcome from the hotel staff obviously they are surviving on a much reduced number of staff so some things are taking a bit longer and the food sadly isn’t up to it’s normal standard because the kitchen is closed and they are having to rely on processed and prepackaged menus.
They’re doing their best with providing a service at breakfast and the waiting and bar staff are cooking simple breakfast things to order. It was in the breakfast restaurant I really wished some of the human race realised the masks are mandatory in Spain!
Too many guests ignoring some simple instructions stating to not go near any of the food areas or preparation areas without a mask! How difficult is that instruction? Well it seems too difficult for some of the morons to follow, I also witnessed a horrific verbal attack on one of the reception staff when someone didn’t make a simple phone call.
I stood up for the staff & hotel basically if you don’t read the terms and conditions about booking expect to pay if you fail to turn up. The room was there ready for you it’s your fault not theirs you didn’t bother to appear! It’s standard in ALL hotels around the world to my knowledge and experience.
Here on trip advisor there have been some basically evil reviews over the past few weeks, please don’t be swayed by them because some are really out of order especially regarding food at this moment in time. I raised an issue with a waiter regarding a salad and it was changed immediately (the lettuce was more than a little tired) they couldn’t have been nicer and more apologetic, the replacement salad was lovely. Yes the bar menu does say gourmet so maybe at the moment they should say ‘almost gourmet menu’ but it’s the whole pandemic situation causing these issues. You need to remember that this hotel allows you to order or go and get a takeaway and eat it both in your room or in the bar, not something many hotels allow anywhere in the world.
I came across a couple of small little niggles but they were sorted immediately, the best thing I loved was being able to book the indoor pool for an allotted time; for me and my colleague it was brilliant because we could fit swimming in around my schedule. We were even allowed to take EMS dogs to the hotel with restrictions to some areas naturally.
Do I recommend the hotel? Yes
Will I return to the hotel? Yes
Am I paid to write this review? No
Do I wish the pandemic would go away? Yes
Sometimes we need to be more appreciative of the work all the hotel staff do to make sure our stays whether business or holidays are the best they can be, not expecting miracles when it’s obviously a difficult time.
Thanks again to all the staff.
Summury: The food is quite spartan at the moment .
Onion and tomato as salad for the whole week, I think, does not fit to a four star hotel.
We ( a family of 4) have spent a very nice week in this hotel. Nice renovated room with see view. The rooms were cleaned daily and left always very tidy...
Breakfast was also very good. The outside pool is also very nice and very well taken care of. The hotel employees were always very nice and tried to help in a very professional manner. All COVID regulations were followed and we have felt very comfortable during our stay.
