Gran Melia Victoria

Spain, Europe

The hotel is on the Palma de Mallorca seafront, near the old town. Major sites such as the Pueblo Español congress centre, the Auditorium, the Royal Yachting Club RCNP or the famous Cathedral are within walking distance. The airport is at 18 km from the hotel. The 171 rooms are bright and airy, filled with natural light; many of them offer spectacular panoramic views over the bay, the Cathedral, the marina with its countless yachts and the promenade. Guest can admire the stunning sunset over the bay while sip on an original cocktail from a terrace bar or enjoy the sun by the pool side while lying on a sunbed. Take the opportunity to have dinner in the restaurant with a menu based on ingredients deeply rooted in tradition and touches of creativity. The moonlight and soft candlelight create an intimate and romantic atmosphere.

Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.

..absolutely lousy behavior..

Review by shogunturi Lachen, Switzerland

We had a confirmed reservation for this hotel for almost a year. Finally standing in front of closed doors following a one week boating trip. Melia is a big hotel chain througout the Balears and even whole Spain. It is kind of hard to understand that they are obviously not able or willing to inform their customers with reservations when their hotels are closed..

Anniversary Treat

Review by janereacroft Scarborough, Maine

Located on the marina, so lovely views but about 30 mins walk from Palma (10 mins in a cab). Fabulous rooms and beautiful views, Breakfast was great. Wifi could be better, its really really slow...

Spirits at the bar were too expensive. Noise at weekends from the nightclub next door, very annoying.

I was travelling with a friend. We couldn’t decide which hotel to book. So one of us booked here, and the other booked Costa Azul...

We were able to compare. Without any doubt the Melia Victoria was the best call. The website photos do not do it justice. The terrace for lunch (photo attached); the grand public rooms; the quality of the restaurant; the outstanding service,... And so I could go on. In one meal I had the best prawns I have had for a long time, and the best steak I have had for a very long time. It will not be long until I return. There is nothing wrong with the Costa Azul. But why settle for ‘good’ when ‘outstanding’ is on offer?

Not a 5* Hotel.

Review by ADavidR Talybont, United Kingdom

This was our first visit to the Hotel Victoria apart from having had lunch there several years ago, and we had booked this as a special Christmas break. First the good bits: Welcoming staff in all areas and spacious, clean, well presented room and bathroom facilities. Breakfast buffet, good variety and well stocked at all times...

Evening meals in the restaurant OK but not outstanding. In fact there were very few evening diners, so lacked atmosphere and at times was quite chilly. Drinks fairly expensive i.e. six euros for a 500 ml bottle of water. I would expect a 5* hotel to provide table water when having booked on a half-board basis. The in-room controls for lighting/curtains/AC was very complicated and the control box was difficult to read. The area outside this hotel seems very run-down with business premises closed and graffiti everywhere. Having booked and paid for seven nights half-board 6 months prior to arrival surprised to be contacted in December regarding evening meal on 24th December requiring an additional payment of 59 euros each with no alternative offered for that evening.

This hotel wrecked our holiday

Review by Melvyn L Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom

My partner and I were notified by Jet2.com at 17.00 hours on 4th March, 13 hours before we were due to take off rom Edinburgh that the Hotel Victoria Gran Melia had just notified them that they were delaying opening the hotel until later in the season. I questioned why the hotel left it until the day before departure but Jet2.com had been given no reason. With such short notice we were compelled to cancel the holiday...

I had been in touch with the hotel the week before, enquiring about transportion from Palma Airport and they made no reference to a planned delay in opening. To treat guests with such disregard is contemptible, especially from a 5 star hotel. I certainly will never consider booking this hotel in future and I would urge Jet2.com to remove them from their package holiday list. I would add that I have no issues with Jet2.com, who were very apologetic and issued a full refund.
