This is a very basic hotel, rooms offer nothing more than a bed. Never had a hotel without tea/coffee facilities before. Very dated with the 1990s beach laminated flooring, worn furniture and a cheap make over of the bathroom, tiles badly painted black. Who was the interior designer? To try and make it look chic the corridors are black with automatic lights when you step out of the lift, If you've ever visited York Dungeons it's like that, without the doors rattling but there is a figureless dress at the end. The aircon was switched off end of October and the rooms are now stuffy, sleeping with the window open. It's a very good location for the city and the maid keeps the rooms spotless. Breakfast is OK and does the job first thing but by the time you get down you're gagging for the coffee. Now the rental markets closed up in Palma I suppose all the hotels don't need to try too hard, this one doesn't anyway. Second HM hotel I've stayed at in 3 years and not impressed with both, but maybe it's because you never get the room in the brochure. In the UK this is a £39 per room hotel and not the one with a goodnight sleep guarantee the other one. Maybe I expect too much, but then again I work hard for my money so expect something back in return.
I would highly recommend this hotel.
We booked a Júnior Suite which was on floor 7.
Funky hotel with quirky artwork, and black corridors, which were well lit by automatic switches.
Great situation in a smart neighbourhood, with some decent adjacent restaurants and bars; and ideally the A1 airport bus drops off and collects right outside.
Just a short walk past the Modern Art museum to the sea front, or down an adjacent road leading to the city centre.
We arrived at 10.30 a.m. in view of an early flight and efficient airport bus - every 20 minutes - journey around 20 minutes.
We did not expect the room to be available at that time, but the receptionist called the housekeeping team to advise them that we had arrived, and our bags were tagged and put in the luggage room, with a promise of a phone call when the room was ready.
The reception staff were all lovely, smiley, interested, efficient and helpful.
T
Cati the housekeeper for our floor was lovely.
Great spacious room with lovely city views from the balcony.
On the first night a staff member brought us a complimentary bottle of Cava in an ice bucket with two glasses, saying that it was from the hotel to thank us for staying there. A lovely gesture.
Breakfast was fine.
It is difficult to find fault - OK we didnt try out our in-room jacuzzi as the bath filled slowly and took a while to reach the jet fittings. The saunas weren
t operating in the Spa - not a problem for us.
The breakfast was adequate if not mind-blowing ,but with fresh fruit, fresh bakery and cooked items.
Staff were so friendly and helpful, the location is fantastic for exploring the old town and shops. Bathroom a little tired and dated, corner room had plenty of space, was lovely and cool, mid corridor room was quite small with very noisy air conditioning. Absolutely no view/sun from.balcony
This hotel is in a wonderful position- it is the end bus stop for the airport bus which runs every 10 minutes. It is also well placed for bars, restaurants nearby and the short walk into the busy old town and the shops. The bedroom was large with a comfortable bed, but in need of updating. Tv had no English speaking channels usually available in large cities, so enjoyed Masterchef in Spanish! Bathroom was fine, chambermaid bought me a rubber bath mat when asked as shower was over the bath. No hand rails, and towels had lost their fluffiness a long time ago! Chambermaid was delightful and helpful. Nice gesture was complimentary free soft drinks in your fridge - not replenished , or exchanged for sugar free options! This hotel for some unknown reason has corridors painted in black! I felt like I was going into a black hole every time I walked along these. Breakfast was Ok -however the breakfast staff were surly which I found unwelcoming. Fruit, yoghurt, cereals, cheeses, Danish pastries and hot choices- plenty to chose from. Receptionists were fine bar one who was most unhelpful. In short, this 4 star hotel is in a great position, but I would not return there. I expect more from a 4 star establishment.
As in previous years we finished our Mallorca holiday off with a 3 night stay here. This was our fifth stay and sadly we will not be returning. When we arrived at around 1pm our room was not ready and we eventually got in just after 3pm. We were happy to get our requested room on the 9th floor. The room was clean but looking very tired and needing updating. The furniture is tired and chipped, the curtains faded and needing cleaned and the laminate floor is in poor condition. The bathroom had a shower over the bath. The anti slip surface on the bath is worn, resulting in the bath being slippy and there are no grab rails on the walls. I did try to ask at reception for a slip mat, but I think my request got lost in translation. They did however bring an extra towelling bath mat and I can confirm that putting this in the bottom of the bath helped! On our second day we choose to not have our room made up by putting the sign on the door, but expected it to be done the next day. When it hadn’t been done by 4pm and all cleaning trolleys had been removed from the corridor I had to go and ask for clean towels. They were promptly delivered to the room but no cleaning was offered. In the restaurant/bar area there are lots of posters advertising Tapa, Snacks etc. Do not expect to be able to order these during the day. While no times are shown, they are only available in the evening and only the set menu of the day is available at lunchtime. Quite disappointing given that this is a tourist hotel. I also remembered late on our last night that as we had booked direct from the hotel we should have been offered a free cocktail and wine in our room. This did not happen but by that point I had lost the will to complain any further. Before posting this review I did email the hotel and they did respond, but did not answer all the points I raised and made a totally useless offer of compensation. They have not had the decency to reply to my second email. The two stars I have given the hotel are for the very comfortable bed, dated but okay AC and the reasonably good breakfast. I am quite sad to be writing this review, as I have always been quick to recommend it on various platforms, but feel Hotel Jaime111 is no longer worthy of its 4 stars and there are definitely better hotels available in the immediate area and the wider city.
