City Break

Review by FussyWales Wales

Very central hotel, ideal for walking to all the sites in Palma city. Choose room with balcony which overlooked the main road and river, there was no noise to disturb us as all double glazed. Room was spacious and very clean, minimalistic...

Beds comfortable.Bathroom a good size and everything worked well. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice. Some days they were short staffed, so they were rushing round trying to clean tables in between customers, but they just got on with it efficiently. Luckily we were on the first floor so used the stairs, but there is only one lift and you can be waiting a long time for it at busy periods. There was a spa and gym in the hotel with changing rooms that looked really nice but we didn’t have time to try it out. The bar was nice and it also served food which seemed to be mainly sandwich’s on a special bread in the evening. There are loads of restaurants in the vicinity, so we went out each night. Front desk were very helpful booking restaurants for us and also a taxi. Would definitely recommend this hotel for a city break, cleanliness and helpfulness.

Nice city centre hotel

Review by cabriolover Scarborough, United Kingdom

We have stayed here 5 times now, just got back Tuesday from 3 nights. Booked it in Feb and booked the 9th floor terrace junior suite, like we normally have. To be given a big room on floor 7...

I went back down to reception to ask for our usual floor 9, to be told the floor is closed. So we paid all this money for frankly a room which I would not have booked. Who wants 2 chairs looking into a set of wardrobes. I was gutted I would have booked and stayed else where. The lady wasn’t bothered, I was unhappy, I sent a message whilst there through the site, which I’ve had no reply. We won’t stay here again now, I would have down graded our room and had a partial refund. It was just disappointing and it’s such a shame as we often shout out to our clients in the salon how lovely it is. But not anymore. The room reflected my beautiful mosquito bites from what I got going out on the tiny balcony, all 11 bites.

Handy for the airport bus

Review by randomer11 Newcastle, United Kingdom

We took the A 1 bus from the airport for 5 euros and got off at the stop opposite the hotel. Got off at stop 20 called Passeig Mallorca - Jaume III. There is a sign on the bus which shows which stop is coming up...

Hotel had a nice fragrance on entry. The room was large and faced the back which was quiet but had no view. Air conditioning was poor so we kept the window open for a breeze and pulled the curtain closed. Beds were comfortable though and had a good nights sleep but can hear the people next door. No kettle to make tea so requested one and they gave us cups and tea bags. Only Fox TV, BBC News, Disney junior and national geographic were English channels. Room was tidied daily and bathroom had hand soap, shower gel and shampoo. Six free complimentary drinks in the fridge. Only one lift so we walked down from the fifth floor and used the lift up. Breakfast was adequate. Coffee was poor and orange juice concentrated. Cereal was cornflakes or coco pops. I prefer muesli or oats. Would have liked some mushrooms or tomatoes as there were no vegetables. I had bacon and scrambled eggs with toast, yogurt and chopped fruit. We never dined at the hotel. Few restaurants nearby. Just round the corner from department store which had a supermarket in the basement with lots of choice. Don’t use the mini market round the corner as the prices were extortionate. Hotel ordered us a taxi to go to Bellver Castle. Bus back to airport was at the same stop we arrived for 5 euros cash. Driver said it runs every 12 minutes. We had to wear a face mask on the bus.

CIty Centre Hotel - 10 minute walk to Mallorca Cathedral

Review by SaintsRock Newcastle Upon Tyne

We stayed here for 5 nights ( 2 adults, one 16 year old) in a family room. The room was a really good size, and the bathroom sufficient enough. We were facing the back of the hotel, so there wasn't a view and it overlooked other buildings...

There's a safe in the wardrobe which is free to use. The bathroom has a hair dryer, bodywash, soap and shampoo. Our towels were quite rough, but there were plenty of them. As someone else has mentioned, the corridors are very dark, floor to ceiling black with some rather unusual pictures dotted about. As a note, this hotel has 9 floors and 1 lift. We were on the 3rd floor, and there were a surprising amount of steps to walk up to get to the 3rd floor so we did use the lift occasionally, especially when we had just been walking around the city for hours, and either had to wait for ages for it to appear or just gave up waiting and walked up the stairs. The main reason for marking this hotel down is due to the Breakfast. You get asked upon checkin which sitting you would like, 7:30, 8:30 or 9:30. That's fair enough as the restaurant where breakfast is served is quite small, so we opted for 8:30. We arrived the next morning to a queue to get in to breakfast, and as all the tables inside were taken, we had to sit outside. This wouldn't have been so bad had the weather been nice and sunny, but it wasn't, so they had to put the outside heaters on. The whole time we were there, even when it was sunny, it never reached the outdoor tables for the restaurant. We then joined the queue to see what was on offer, some fruit, yoghurt, some cheese and meats, cereal boxes, bread and pastries. The hot choice was scrambled egg, chorizo, cooked ham (not bacon) and i'm not sure what the round things were, maybe hash browns. The L shaped layout is a nightmare as the toaster is in the corner, so if someone wants toast , it holds up the whole queue. I would seriously consider moving the toaster to the end , out of the way. Tea and coffee machine, 2 choices of juice and water. The staff are very friendly. The hotel also has a spa, but a maximum of 6 people can use it as it is very small. There's also a small 'lounge' just by the side of reception with a few seats. Whilst we were there, the air conditioning was not yet available, so at night time it was quite stuffy in the room (Mid April). As has been mentioned, the hotel is ideally located for all the sites and shopping. A taxi to the airport costs roughly 16 euros, or you can get the bus. A special mention to the handy man who helped on our last night get our daughter out of the bathroom. When she tried to open the door, it wouldn't open and we had to go down to reception to ask for help. The handy man came very quickly and after trying to fix the handle etc, ended up , after a while, having to kick the door down. By this time it was after 11pm and reception said it would be fixed the next day, but we were checking out the next morning. All the staff we encountered were friendly.

Smashing city centre hotel….

Review by dawniemc65 Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom

This is an ideal place to stay in Palma - handy for everything, and the A1 bus from the airport stops right outside. Lovely lounge area, bar and restaurant - the decor in the corridors is a bit dark - almost ‘nightclubby’ (reminds me of the Quay club in Newcastle circa 1993, as all the communal walls are a black slate/tile effect 😂) - however, the rooms are light and airy enough, and kept very clean with towels replaced every day. There’s a great shower, plenty of water pressure, and a bath if you prefer one...

We had a problem with the toilet which had stopped flushing - rang reception, and a chap turned up within literally 2 minutes, got a new part and fixed it…impressive! Breakfast was lovely - huge choice of cereals, breads, continental, pastries, fresh fruit, nuts and seeds, then scrambled egg and bacon. Staff were great - all very friendly, all speak great English and will help you with directions if needed. Overall, we had a lovely time, and I’d go back there again
