Hotel is on a steep hill - like much of Calamayor- so you may struggle after a night in the ‘town’, which is really just a section of the road from Palma towards Illyettas. Limited choice of places to eat locally if staying more than a couple of days and even fewer shops. Good bus connections and the trip to a Palma takes about 20 mins and costs €1.50 (Bus 3)
The hotel room I had you couldn’t swing a cat in it and the balcony was minute and never caught the sun...
The bathroom was tired and had cracked tiles. Decor generally was poor with stained walls and only one useable plug socket for charging phones etc Reception staff were not particularly friendly- rarely offering a good morning or good night salutation unless responding to one. The breakfast buffet was the usual fare including fatty bacon and eggs. Cold meats and cheeses also available and for the price quite ok
Overall despite the reasonable pricing I would not stay here again, due mainly to the room sizes and steep hill location
Visited with friends for a long weekend which included the Mallorca Marathon. The staff were very friendly and very helpful, arranging taxis to get us to the Marathon start on the Sunday and a taxi to get us back to the airport when we left. The rooms are basic but clean and have a comfy bed...
The pool is very nice, everywhere is clean and there is an outside and inside bar. The drinks at the hotel were about the cheapest we had during our stay, €3.5 for a large beer. The breakfast included was good, loads of choice. Overall a great value for money hotel, not 4* or 5* but no complaints.
Originally the plan was to meet up with my wife and daughters off a cruise ship on the Thursday, so I looked for somewhere close to Palma not too pricey. Spent ages reading the reviews etc then finally chose the Blue Bay.
Set up a few steps (read somewhere it was 200, don't know didn't count). I arrived at lunch time and had a wee seat in reception whilst an irate customer demanded discounts from the receptionist that he could not give.
He remained patient, polite and professional, dealing with the customer, and I waited patiently and politely until he was finished.
For my reward I got a sea view room on second floor. The room was smallish but very adequate for the price and my needs (other than no kettle - see below though)...
The view was outstanding with a small balcony that overlooked the cafe area and the pool, and allowed me to make most of the seaview and the weather.
I had hired a car to explore Majorca, (not sure many tourists know how stunning it is) and was delighted to be able to park with no hassle on the drive at side of pool area. I was to find that the Blue Bay is a great base in the almost perfect location for exploring Majorca. Minutes from the major roads AND both Palma and the mountains.
The choices at breakfast lunch and dinner were NOT massive but were varied enough for the size of the hotel and the food was really nice.
The hotel was always immaculate, a coffee machine at reception with free coffee whenever I needed it, (always).
The staff, in my experience, were always friendly and knowledgeable and one or two were able to point me to close by delights such as Bellver Castle and the Caves of Genova in Palma.
The pool always had sunbeds available, although I'm neither a pool nor a sunbathing type of traveller. The hotel has a policy of not allowing sunbeds to stay unused but reserved with towels. I could not tell you if the actively implement this though.
Overall I enjoyed my five nights there and would definitely use this hotel again.
Thank you very much.
Really good value for money. Nicely located, with a beautiful garden, and good service.
The food was really ok, nothing special, but plenty of everything...
Rooms are in a need of renovation, but they keep it clean. There's a lack of parking space.
Overall, I would recommend this hotel to everyone, since the prices are really reasonable.
I stayed here recently whilst on holiday. The best things about the hotel were the staff and the lovely pool area and terrace . In particular the bar staff were exceptionally helpful...
The bedrooms are basic but adequate and the cleaning was of a good standard. The food was varied and was off a good quality with plenty of choice each day. The staff in the dining room were also very helpful . The location is not ideal for anyone with walking difficulties as the hotel is on a hill and those it was a pleasant walk down to the beach it was steep on the way back up . The only negative thing about the stay was we were booked for all inclusive which the hotel confirmed on check in. However 2 days into the holiday they said all inclusive ended that night. I spoke to 2 members of reception about this but they blamed the travel agent despite the fact that they had confirmed we were all inclusive on arrival and gave us cards showing this. This affected other guests in the hotel too and I felt that they were a bit dismissive and showed a lack of empathy
