Great Location

Review by karen n Edinburgh, United Kingdom

Visited for 3 nights in May. Hotel was clean and the breakfasts were great.

Good location and we could walk easily to Santa Catalina area and Palma old town...

Biggest downside was the pool area - never enough sunbeds and service at the pool bar was slow

Book spa treatments with caution

Currently staying at this hotel for a bit of R and R. The rooms are a little on the small size but adequate. And extras I would normally take for granted in a hotel room (such as hair cap) are missing...

However, my biggest problem with this hotel is the spa. On the first day I booked a 80 min treatment for the following day and I was not made aware that I could have used the spa facilities for free prior to my treatment - not a major problem, but it would have been nice to know. Anyway, after my treatment I booked two further treatments based on the price list on the counter and asked to pay for one of the treatment with melia points. I was told that would be fine, just to bring my membership number with me. However, on the day of the treatment it transpired that the price list which I had relied upon - which I had picked up from the counter - was apparently two years out of date and I needed double the points to pay for the treatment!! The fact that I had made a booking based on a price list I picked up off the counter in the spa days earlier was not acknowledged. Neither by the spa staff. Nor reception. They both were simply of the opinion "it was a mistake" and "the price is double the points now". Unhappy that the hotel was not willing to honour the pricing, I requested to speak with the hotel manager who appeared to acknowledge the problem BUT has deducted more Melia points than the price list - so I've gone back to receptionist to get this corrected (awaiting resolution). This is NOT how a holiday should be and the customer should definitely not be expected to absorb the hotels mistake. The customer service here is simply not good enough. Definitely disappointing!! Needless to say, I have cancelled the third spa treatment I had booked.

Would choose somewhere with nicer/safer pool area next time.

Looks impressive when stepping into lobby. Rooms a bit small but nice enough. Hotel restaurant and bar is quite expensive but there are nice places to eat just outside the hotel...

Hotel does do a good pina colada though. Pool area is not good. I had glass in my foot and we noticed broken glass on a few occasions. Not sure why people are allowed to sit right on the side of the pool with glasses. Also pool attendant tips your things on the floor if you’re more than half an hour having lunch. My friend is disabled and when we got back after 45 mins and questioned it, the pool attendant just pointed to a tiny sign behind him that isn’t visible from the pool area and said “rules”. Also they didn’t allow us to bring our own drinks around the pool but the pool bar was extremely slow, expensive and ran out of things. I liked the location of this hotel opposite the marina and there is a lovely view but I wouldn’t stay at this hotel again, I would pick somewhere with a nicer pool area.

Great Stay

Review by Mark K Leicester, United Kingdom

We had a short 5 days break at this hotel in one of the Level Premium sea View rooms with Solarium. The hotel and rooms facilities were excellent. We had access to the Level lounge, which is where we checked in, with a glass of Cava! The lounge itself was open for breakfast for us and open most of the day for refreshments...

The hotel is very nice and ideally located for exploring Palma. There are lots of nice restaurants and bars around this area and it is not noisy. This was the first time we have stayed at a Melia hotel and found it an excellent experience. We are now looking at staying at another Melia hotel and would happily return to the Melia Palma Marina.
