- Occidental Playa de Palma

This magnificent hotel, housed in a traditional Majorcan structure and surrounded by beautiful gardens, is very nicely located in the centre of Playa de Palma and only 200m from the lively and vibrant area of El Arenal, where guests will find numerous shops, bars, pubs and discos. This is a perfect place to enjoy an animated holiday on this Mediterranean island. This hotel is classed as a “bikefriendly” hotel and welcomes cyclists from all over the world. The hotel boasts facilities to support both the leisure and professional cyclist.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
Great spot for a few days in the sun - good location, great pool, brilliant staff - so close to the airport too
The staff is good - waiters, cleaners, chefs and bartenders. But there were too few of them now. Spain is known for good customer service in its resorts.
We had a wonderful stay, even though it was a single night before moving further inland. It's proximity to the airport is handy, though parking is off property.
Traveled to Palma for business in August 2025 and again in April 2026, and I truly can’t recommend Occidental enough. The staff are warm and welcoming, the rooms are clean, and the views are beautiful. It’s just a two-minute walk to the beach. In the summer, this part of the island becomes a major hub for party tourism (often associated with German youth), and with that comes significant noise and, unfortunately, a lack of respect for the surroundings. We saw broken glass on the beach and public areas left in very poor condition, which is especially upsetting given how fragile and beautiful this coastline is. However, if you walk just five minutes in either direction away from Mega Park, the beach becomes peaceful and absolutely stunning. April, on the other hand, is ideal—quiet, warm, and simply beautiful. The hotel’s all-inclusive option is excellent. The dining hall is thoughtfully laid out, and the variety and freshness of the food are outstanding. A special mention goes to Joaquín, the dining hall manager, who truly makes you feel at home. He remembered us from our previous stay, was incredibly attentive, and his recommendations made our time on the island even more enjoyable. His professionalism and care really stand out—thank you, Joaquín! We also stayed at Ferguson during one of our visits, and the experience simply doesn’t compare.
The walls are no thicker than a playing card. The clientele is mixed and if you are unlucky enough to have neighbors whole are solely there for the party district around the corner you are most likely going to get Zero sleep. Staff are lovely bathrooms have zero privacy because doors were replaced with a hanging glass plate.
