Costa Adeje

This attractive apartment complex is located in the tourist centre of Playa del Duque, about 600 m from beautiful sandy beaches. Numerous shops and entertainment venues are located in the immediate vicinity, and the nearest public transport stop is just in front of the building. The hotel comprises three-storeys with a total of 210 accommodation units. It offers a conference room and a public Internet terminal for business guests, while younger visitors can participate in the kids' club activities or let off steam in the play area. The grounds feature a water complex with two swimming pools, which is perfect for sunbathers. Guests can also make use of the sauna and sports enthusiasts can play squash, billiards/snooker, table tennis or try out diving. The hotel also offers a varied entertainment programme for adults and children.

Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.

Decent hotel but a little tired

Review by Ian1199 San Francisco

The hotel is in a good location a nice 15 to 20 minute walk to beach, bars and restuarants.

Our room was overlooking the shopping mall which was ok and you got the sun late afternoon but was chilly in the morning.

We were all inclusive and the food was good and plenty of choice. The hotel had a strict facemask policy inside the restaurant which wasn't a problem for us.

Room was fine and spacious with kettle, toaster, fridge, and was cleaned every day. The towels were pretty thin and threadbare.

2 pools were fine although there was supposed to be a heated pool but if there was, it was never heated to a decent temperature! The pool is in need of some upgrading and maintenance...

Many of rhe small tiles in and around were coming away and my 7 year old daughter cut her foot (not particularly bad) and on another occasion one of the pool lights in the side came loose and was floating in the pool on a wire!

The staff were lovely in particular in the pool bar. All in all we had a good stay and the gripes above did not spoil our holiday. Hotel just needs a bit of TLC

A week away

Review by outlook1 Shipley, United Kingdom

Check in was good we were given a map and our room key cards. Our room was large plenty of storage space and very clean. Our balcony was large overlooking the shopping mall The restaurant on a all inclusive basis had plenty of choice at meal times although it did resemble more of a canteen and lacked ambiance...

The bar area around the pool was adequate not many guests staying at the time of our visit. A big shout out to Pedro the bar tender who was lovely and always had a smile and a joke with the hotel guests. Night time entertainment was mixed some good some not so good. Overall we had a good holiday and would recommend for a week away .We did hear some complaints mainly on the last day about the wifi being discontinued and also the all inclusive been stopped at 12 noon But then you will always get some

Excellent Hotel

Just back from 10 days at the El Duque. This is a well organised hotel, spacious clean rooms, good housekeeping. I was on b&b so breakfast was good standard food...

Two nice pools, plenty of sun beds always clean and tidy.

There is a well equipped gym on site with a discount for hotel guests.

Reception staff are very pleasant. I did not leave until 5pm so at checkout there is shower room facilities and a luggage store room.

Room had a fridge, two hot plates and a microwave but I did not cook. There is a supermarket right outside the gates.

Good location, the sea front is down a hill but it’s not really a drawback.

Overall I would definitely recommend this hotel

Expected better

Review by kerrymS6798VS Alford, United Kingdom

Booked hotel el duque for a Family holiday. 2 adults 5 year old and 9 month old. Arrived to warm welcome and quick check in...

Room was basic but clean - everything seemed fine. However one chair was broken (seat part) lifted straight off and was obviously broken - not very safe when you have a baby crawling and pulling himself up on furniture. However chair was replaced quickly. Also found that 2 pairs of scissors were kept with other utensils in bottom cupboard - very easily found by the baby and seriously not what you expect when there is obviously a baby staying there.

I asked for a high chair on the first day we arrived to be told they could not be supplied to rooms however when I asked someone else a day later one was brought to us immediately.

Safety or perhaps common sense maybe not the first concern of this hotel.

Only had breakfast here one day, loads of options, and all looked very tasty.

Entertainment at night was mostly singers, kids mini disco was ace for kids and the guy got all the kids up dancing. He was fantastic and very energetic (very sorry Iv forgotten his name)

Bar staff very friendly. And lovely lady who cleaned our room was always smiley and chatty.

If you go self catering here I would 100% recommend going to the Pantry just a 5 min walk away for breakfast or lunch. Amazing food there.

Also if you have an option definitely upgrade your room here.

Shopping mall just outside hotel is very nice with good restaurants also.

Unfortunately on our last day I called reception early morning as instructed to book a late checkout which I told would be ok - just pay an extra €30. However when I called I was asked to leave our room by 12pm. We could keep our cases in a room beside reception and receptionist kindly let us know we would be able to have a shower later on. This was quite disappointing as our flight was at 8.30pm and with a 9month old it’s not ideal. Put our cases into room and asked about having a shower around 3pm, however our names had not been booked for a shower so we did feel as though we were an inconvenience. thankfully we had all showered in morning as we were given a small shower room to use for only 20 mins for the 4 of us. I realise this is quite standard for checking out of hotels but I just felt disappointed that I had been told the week before that late checkout shouldn’t be a problem.

There is a big pool and baby pool beside the bar and another pool round the other side however the baby pool and big pool was so cold the kids wouldn’t go in - a few families were disappointed by this.

All in all I think we were unlucky with the different circumstances surrounding our stay. And personally won’t be staying again as have stayed in nicer, more organised hotels.
