Such a shame

Review by MBarryM Colchester, United Kingdom

This hotel could be a good five star, just keep away from reception, so unhelpful and so obvious that British are not welcome where the staff are concerned which may be fair enough but it should be taken off of British sites to book. To be fair food should be based on what you’re paying and on that it’s three star .Nice location so if coming go bed & breakfast only. We went privilege free drinks at reception bar only 542m away from pool if your feeling fit. There is a bar in the privilege section but these are not included. Take yourself up 4 flights of steps on the way also! Drinks available until midnight ( but now they have decided it’s 11 o’clock...

All info on your booking will say 12 o’clock but if they’re not in the mood they will close it when they want) Remember don’t go to reception and complain you will get yourselves all upset with the total disregard to any complaint. Non privilege guests allowed to sunbathe in the privilege area so don’t bother paying the extra £800 like we did as can’t see the benefit 5. Children are not allowed in the pool in the privilege area so for us this was a big problem as we could not see our grandson enjoying the pool Al la carte restaurants included on privilege however long trousers must be worn; even in 34 degree heat. This should be relaxed to dress shorts in the summer as it put us off going as it was unbearably hot. Booked the Japanese restaurant for 2 people at 9pm one evening and on arrival were told they had tried calling us earlier in the day to change the booking to 7 but couldn’t get hold of us. We were then escorted out of the restaurant and had to go and purchase food outside of the hotel; so once again, go B&B and save the drama.
Fridge in room on privilege is supposed to be fully stocked. Fridge wasn’t filled once; not even on arrival. Complained and was still not done. Complimentary chocolates and turn-down service on privilege- never happened. The way they are dealing with COVID: 10/10 you feel very safe in the measures they have put in place. 2 of our party decided to join others on the dance floor one night and were quickly told in front of other guests to wear a mask. They did so but we’re very embarrassed as they were the only 2 dancing in a mask. We quickly realised that they were the only British dancing and others noticed this too. Masks should be a rule for everyone and as mentioned above, British are not made to feel welcome in the slightest. This could be a great hotel.

  1. Staff to wear shields instead of masks they make every one look miserable, a smile goes a long way.
  2. Open one small bar for privilege guests by pool.
  3. Install cctv on reception staff, we could sense when the boss was coming to check progress on building of new pool and play area and attitudes changed accordingly.

Would we stay again? If top management came in and sorted it out it could be a fantastic place and we wouldn’t hesitate to stay again but they way things are at the moment we wouldn’t dream of it.

Wouldn't visit again

Review by StaffsTraveller12 Stoke On Trent

Nice pool area, although no social distancing or cleaning measures are in place at all, despite what it says on their website. The food is absolutely awful, and is completely tasteless. We had Bed & Breakfast and ended up buying our own food from the local supermarket instead...

The staff are rude and deliberately unhelpful, which made our stay in difficult enough times, less enjoyable. We were allocated a room below the standard we had paid for, and when we asked to change, the staff seemed to expect this request. The second room was much better, but we should have been allocated that in the first place. No late checkouts permitted apparently, so everyone checks out at 12pm without any offer of a courtesy room or being advised where you could change later on if you want to use the pool still for the day. Checkout was awful - the receptionist was rude and kept changing the information she gave us about whether or not we could put our suitcases in the luggage room for a few hours until we left for our flight. First she said we could but could not leave the hotel while it was in there, then she said the luggage room was very small and there was no room. We saw the luggage room completely empty when we eventually managed to put our cases in it. The staff are rude, deliberately unhelpful and do not offer any alternatives when they say no to a request. We usually go to Greece and only stayed here because Greece's borders were closed to British people - we'll stick with Greece in future, but definitely wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone.

The staff at the hotel did not want to help in any way. The gym could not be booked in all the time we stayed.

The buffet breakfast was poor quality and the majority tasted awful and the dinner buffet was a bunch a served slop...

The room was not cleaned properly once, dirty cups were not changed and the bed was only changed once I took the sheets off myself. It seemed when the cleaner came in all she did was change the bins, tidy up the bed sheets and leave- when mentioning to staff they did not offer solutions or try to amend the situation, instead they just offered the option to make a complaint.

Absolutely appalling, this place is certainly only worth 3 stars not the 4.5 it claims..

Dont stay here. Look further up the coast towards los Americas there are much better hotels.

SUMMARY: Overall would not stay again, wouldn’t be surprised if I left the complex with Coronavirus and looking forward to writing a complaint about the rudeness and attitude of staff during my stay.

So reading the reviews we decided to book this hotel, as all seemed good and given that the hotel was closed down due to an outbreak in COVID earlier in the Pandemic, we thought it was out safest option. Wow, what a mistake

We arrived, there is a sign telling you that face coverings are advised, but you will not be served at the bar, or allowed in the restaurant if you do not wear a mask. You are provided with one mask in your hotel and that is it so you need to be careful as they break easily and it won’t be replaced!

The staff are not prepared to help you out if anything involves leaving the reception desk and are actually quite rude...

I’m not sure if the Pandemic has changed the attitude towards hotel guests, but we were made to feel as though we were not welcome in the hotel at all. Certain areas of the hotel (infinity pool, day beds) are all Privilege only, so don’t think you can use the nice areas of the pool but instead will be at the pool, unable to perform the 1.5m social distancing guidelines away from other hotel guests. Please be aware too that the water park section and “beach” is currently closed for refurbishments and is also loud and disruptive. Which isn’t mentioned on the website

I cannot fault the hotel cleaners, the rooms were cleaned before you can come back from dinner. Disappointing though that the standards for a hotel that had an outbreak was not extremely hot, with the sink becoming dirty. The lack of signage does not inform you of towel policy which you need to place in the bath to change.

COVID does have its restrictions, but with no one informing you of Spain’s policies (where to wear masks etc) then you are aiming to be a failure. Please be aware that at 12pm on check out day, you are expected to be off site unable to use the facilities or even the bag drop off point, which lack of communication and info means no one will tell you. Overall would not stay again, wouldn’t be surprised if I left the complex with Coronavirus and looking forward to writing a formal complaint. Hotel does look pretty at night though, which is probably for the best.

COVID-19 vacation in 4-star hotel

Review by Janina B

First of all, let me wish you health and lot of strength in this weird episode of human society. Especially to your cleaning ladies, who are at the highest risk. They definitelly deserve more than kind words if you know what I mean...

Anyway, all of you have my ultimate respect for everything you are doing and what you must deal with on daily basis. Thumb up.

H10 hotel is located on the edge of Costa Adeje. So it means, that if you want to experience a night life in its full beauty, you just have to take a 40-minutes walk alongside the sea or take a cab. I personally prefer the walking :) however, most of the night life was cancelled in July 2020 (bars and restaurants or shops were mainly closed. On the very first day it was also a challenge to find a store, where we could buy water...)

Also the near beach is rather made of stones. So the sandy beaches are again conditioned by a little of walk or a taxi ride.

Hotel was dealing with the COVID situation as good as possible. "Mascarillas", sanity gels everywhere, social distances - pretty much rules we all know from home. Anyway, there were some extra things we did not count with and some od them were less pleasant, like booking of breakfasts and dinners - especially after we arrived and had to wait till 10pm for dinner, as no slot was free anymore. Also we overslept once and instead of 8:30 we arrived for breakfast at 9:30. Neither staff nor us were happy, but there still was understanding and no hard feelings. So far so good.

The bufet was also a funny thing. There was a plan certainly. Basically guests were not allowed to touch anything. They just showed and staff delivered. But the plan was not working well for long (a lot of waiting, long queues, stress on both sides). With higher volume of guests it returned to a standard we all know. What I definitelly admire and cheer for though is the space outside the restaurant. We always found seats :)

Food - excellent as always in Canary. Plenty of everything. Even i. COVID-19 time.

The animators were great. For kids definitelly a lot of fun. For adults - well, I won the bingo, so I am really satisfied here :-D

The only situation I really did not understand and actually disliked was storage of luggage. Check out must happen till noon. But noon was also time, where the luggage store was closed for good. So we were forced to stay at a pool for 2 hours till our airport transfer arrived. No chance to go to the ocean to say goodbye. Not sure, what is the idea behind this decission (VIRUS strikes no matter what time it is...) but well, c'est la vie.

In conclusion - would I recommend a stay in this hotel? Definitelly. But only under following conditions:

  1. you don't mind walking
  2. you are strong enough to deal with non-standard situations with peace in your mind and no hard feelings in your heart

Whoa... I wanted to be short and brief. But believe me, I could continue more, but you would not read it.

So thank you and one day see you again. Ha luego 🇮🇨💁🏻‍♀️
