Rule breaking

Review by bridesmumLondon Perivale, United Kingdom

We have just spent another week at this hotel. We stay at least 2-3 times per year and love it. Renovations that are being done are not affecting guests and facilities, piano bar and Privilege Lounge have been relocated on the 2nd floor.

The only problem we have encountered this time is that every single day the Privilege area infinity pool (over 16s only) & Jacuzzi (over 12s only) were continually used by underage children with no monitoring...

Previously I know that this had been complained about onsite and the person concerned was told that the lifeguards would look out for it. In the entire week we were there we saw lifeguards in the Privilege area twice. One spent an hour chatting to a maintenance man with his back to the water areas and the other came through a hole in the hedge and went straight to chat to Margarita before leaving. Neither looked at the water areas or acknowledged guests. One afternoon we left early as the were 5 children aged between 3-7 in the infinity pool with their fathers jumping from the bed area into the deeper water and squealing as they were caught (not conducive to a quiet chill out area). At the same time 2 girls approx 9-10 were in the jacuzzi. There were also toddlers there filling up their buckets from the infinity pool to make sandcastles and leaving piles of sand from the buckets on the steps of the pool. Another thing that I witnessed twice were blue towels guests sunbathing in the Privilege area and on one occasion being served the drinks/snacks paid for by Privilege guests.

Beware major building work.

Any persons visiting this hotel right now, next few months BEWARE.

The hotel as of right now is undergoing significant building work. It appears speaking with other guests (including but not limited to Easy Jet Holidays and Jet2 Holidays) no communication has been received from H10 Hotels informing the tour operators that pre-planned, significant building work would be (is now) taking place and will be a significant loss of enjoyment for hotel guests. Disclaimers this afternoon are already being published on the tour operators websites (Jet2) informing of mild disruption at the hotel however i can assure you the work is significant.

On other matters associated to building work disruption at the hotel, the hotel is attempting to pacify guests by offering to upgrade to an all inclusive package if guests will sign a non disclosure agreement agreeing to not complain upon return to the UK - which would most likely be viewed in the UK as an unfair contract term - Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations.

Consumers should exercise their rights under the Package Travel Regs to cancel their holidays and excercise their right to a full refund if applicable...

Alternatively consumers should contact their Credit Card companies, S75 Consumer Credit Act if they are unable to reach a satisfactory resolution.

Favourably Jet2 Holidays have already offered a 50% refund to guests already on site demonstrating, time is of the essence and a prompt and effective preliminary investigation on behalf of their customers already on site. However Easy Jet Holidays are right now offering only 15% and would appear so far to have applied no due diligence to undertake a site visit by their representative relying on telephone calls between themselves and the hotel.

Informed decisions on which tour operator should therefore be carefully considered when booking future holidays.

Satisfied

Review by LeonKar1 Riga, Latvia

We were looking for a wonderful place to spend Easter holidays with our children and we found it in this resort. Satisfied with our family room that had also a direct view of the sea, a lot of space around the pools with different water temperature and beautiful palm trees, a lot of activities ( not disturbing) , staff very polite and friendly, enjoyable environment. About food, we had half board...

A lot of variety every evening of the week and good quality ( fish, mussels, langostinos, steak, entrecote my favourites). The resort is exactly beachfront and it is a plus. What I would suggest to change:

  1. Swimming pool "adults only", cannot be warmer that that one for children.
  2. Water at dinner should be included.
  3. Bathroom was good, but comparing with the room, need renovation. Thanks for the beautiful vacation!

Guests are not welcome

Review by Semele Antwerp

Room and bathroom: very spacious. We loved the comfortable twin beds and the quiet room. But even the “new” rooms are worn out...

Floor in terrible condition, closet door didn’t close. We also found black hairs in the shower, stains on the sheets, a used face mask and we had no clean sheets for 1 week.

Pool and garden: the best feature of the hotel. Spacious, very clean, very pleasant, enough sunbeds. However, on the last day we left our sunbeds for 20 minutes to go for a walk. Upon return we discovered they were moved, together with our personal belonging, to a place in the shade next to a bin and changing booth to make room for an inflatable water slide. Just like that. No excuses, no explanation. Had to go and look for them. When I asked when the "fun" would be over and if they could put our sunbeds back, they claimed not to speak any of the 4 languages I suggested.

Another lady asked the pool guys where to find towels. They said to look for staff all dressed in white. When she said she waited at the towel booth for 20 minutes, they responded it's not their problem or job.

First days were cool and cloudy so we went for a swim in the only warm pool. We were asked to leave since our children are minus 16. The other pools were freezing and too deep. We tried the indoor pool. An arrogant, rude pool boy wearing heavy black glassed told our son to leave the jacuzzi. When I asked why he said “it’s bad for the organs of your child”. When my son jumped in the pool, he was told not to do so “because it’s dangerous”. When we returned later that day, we were told the pool, with 10 people in it, was full “because of CO2”. It’s an open construction though. A young men was urged to remove his rings and hand them over to the pool boy “because it's dangerous”. Went to customer service and so did other people. Asked them if we were even welcome?

I also heard the same pool boy gossiping about me with his friend when I walked by on the bridge. Cool.

Went for a walk in the morning near the sea. Hotel card didn't work and I was locked out. Had to wait for another guest to let me in.

Restaurant: buffet restaurant serves tasteless food. I don’t understand how it’s even technically possible to make such food. 90% is not fresh, meaning not homemade. Buffet restaurant is very crowded, 250 people at once. What about the CO2?? Tried La Serata. Inedible. Raw pizza and tiramisu gone bad. Someone said: let me get some FRESH one for you. So be aware: don't eat the tiramisu in front of you, ask for the fresh one.

Breakfast just OK. Soft boiled eggs were always hard, no small spoons, wet plates, long qeues, low food quality,...

Tried the Japanese. Very average. Main dish was chicken with noodles. Server screamed at us: "drink, drink?" Please offer people a menu or make a wine suggestion. And please do not start cleaning when people are still eating.

We were on half board but wanted to dine out looking for something healthy and fresh. Asked if we could eat at the buffet for lunch instead of dinner. No problem according to customers relations. Once there we were presented with a 72 euros bill. Asked to speak with the manager who was rude too and started yelling as if we were criminals. My husband asked to step aside so our children wouldn’t have to witness this scene. He said we had to pay 50 euros. (so what about the 72 euros?) Which we refused.

I'm totally clueless why people say they had a good experience and/or will return. Maybe they think it's normal, maybe they were just lucky. I respectfully leave this in the middle.

After my talk with sweet Daria of customer relations, I decided not to write a bad review. It costs so much negative energy and it doesn’t make anyone happy. I changed my mind when our belongings were thrown away at the pool. I assume we all work hard to pay for our well deserved holidays. If you enjoy a bit of luxury or at least want to be treated with a minimum of respect, this is not the place for you.

Highlights: Daria and Daniel from CR. Classy waiter at the pool bar called Sandra and friendy men at luggage room.

Everything I say about the rooms, the food and the staff is not new. Previous guests said the same. Apparently the situation has been the same for years. Management says they do everything to make you happy. They clearly have a special sense of humour. So please don't respond with a standard answer.

In brief: guests are not welcome in H10 Costa Adeje "Palace" which is totally not a 4 star. They simply don't want you.

Great hotel and facilities in great location but needs to do more to understand and respond to dietary needs.

Review by NJB227 Bideford, United Kingdom

Nice hotel with good grounds and pool areas. Great location and stunning views. There is plenty of space and great access to the promenade and beach...

Room was fine, with large comfy bed. The staff were all great with us and the food for meat eaters would be varied and good quality.

The issue for us is that a vegetarian diet is not really catered for. It means you miss out because there aren’t any hot vegetarian meals or maybe occasionally one choice. We mentioned at the privilege check-in but no adequate solutions were offered. There are vegetable side dishes but not a meal of substance such as veggie lasagne, Spinach cannelloni, stuffed peppers, veggie curry, stuffed mushrooms, aubergine bake, tofu stir fry etc. etc. Very limited single choice in the al la cartes. Plenty of salad but you don’t really want just salad or the same dish repeatedly. It is disappointing because it has been raised several times in previous reviews and doesn’t seem to have been received. It’s also a shame because the hotel is really good in so many other respects and we would have expected a hotel of this size to be more attentive to dietary requests. On the plus side the vegetarian dishes were labled well. I am also gluten free to make things doubly awkward. There were few alternatives but I was able to navigate OK. The exception is the Japanese restaurant which was really good and they made a real effort. We stayed at the nearby H10 Gran Tinerfe straight afterwards for 5 nights and they weren’t great but made much more of an effort in the A la carte

We had a Privilege room and all inclusive which gave access to some nice areas which were quieter. I would recommend upgrading to privilege. The privilege area overlooking the sea was much quieter with better sun beds and access to drinks etc.

The entertainment was pretty good and the drinks quality was excellent. I
